I got a text last night from 7046517767@localhost, telling me to call this #888-253-9644.I called the number attached to the @localhost, it went straight to voice mail to a female.  I told her that I received a txt from her to call an 888 #, that I wasn't into her fraudulent scam.  A few min later I got a txt form "her" (Jamie Lumpkee) saying that she doesn't know what that is about.  To disregard, and delete.  I thought it was funny that when I left the message for her to call and speak with me, she didn't she txt, and the txt didn't come in from another source it came from exactly the way the first txt came through.  So I then decided to call the 888-253-9644 number this morning from a land line phone I got a robotic recording saying they were a visa prepaid card company called Achieve Card Customer, and that because of all the "fraud" going on, that my card was being selected to be verified because my so called "prepaid" card was in jeopardy.  That I needed to put my card number in to be "verified".  I hung up.

This "woman" I'm sure is tied into this scam somehow.  Be ware!!!  DO NOT give any information to this company.  They are looking to get people's card info and take all the money they can.

Computer voice when you call them back. Original communication is through text. When you call it asks you to verify your account.

I worked in remote delivery tech services for a time. Most legit service providers do not cold call, they rely on interested potential customers to initiate contact.

No one has any way of of knowing for sure that there are viruses on your computer until they connect, so if you're getting cold calls telling you there are definitely viruses on your PC, that's a huge red flag.

Many tech service providers also work "white label", meaning you'll call your internet provider or pc manufacturer, etc, and they'll direct you to their support center, but you're really talking to a separate company that is working under a contract with the company you called. So, sometimes your internet service provider will alert you to virus-like activity on your network, IE Comcast Constant Guard warning, but a live tech agent will NOT call you, they'll simply direct you to call customer care via email, robocall or letter and customer care will provide you with instructions on how to fix the issue yourself as well as provide the option of paying for their service partner to correct the issue. So, if someone is calling you, telling you that your pc is definitely infected and the only way to fix it is to pay, THEY ARE LYING.

Most legit companies have a company branded url that they will direct you to in order to initiate a remote connection. If you're on the phone with someone who's telling you to go to Ammyy or Teamviewer, that's another red flag, both of these companies clearly prohibit commercial use of their product.

Another important note with dealing with unknown callers, legit companies are all about call branding, they're proud of their service and don't want you to forget who you're talking to. If you find yourself on the phone with someone and they don't clearly state the name of their company at the beginning and end of the call, chances are it's because they DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO. And that is always a bad sign.

Unfortunately, I fell for the SCAM, it has cost me over $ 200.00 and I told them form the start that I was disabled and had very little money....I was told that I had 9,000 virus's on my PC and it would shut down soon if I didn't let them help, so I did the one time help option for 60.00.....three days later, the same things were going on so I called them back to let them know they didn't FIX anything and.I was told that the reason my PC was running so bad was my AVG, and that I needed Microsoft Security Essentials then I wouldn't have any more trouble with virus's, SO like a fool I believed that and and took the 1 year option.....for 140.00 more and they said they would take it out in two payments of $70.00 the same date of two different months, they took it out a month before they said they would, and I even have the email to prove that..they never put Micorsoft on my PC, reason being there is a major glich in that , they said and it would destory my PC, I got the free avast.....and not for the 1 year, for 30 days ....I waited for three weeks for them to return a call to me and I never got one...so I spent the day at the bank filing the Unauthorized debit from checking account, and closed my account...Lying , Scamming company of the worst kind...

"Cody Smith" from IBABA called on a blocked line asking for my husband by name. When told he was at work and asked what this was about he asked if I ever did anything with my computer and started going into a spiel that there were "trojan viruses" attacking computers in my area and that if I would let him remotely scan my computer he could help us fix it. I called him out on the line, pointing out that my local police have been getting a lot of calls about scammers calling out of no where wanting access to peoples computers and he tried to insist they are a legitimate company. I got his name and phone number and told him we were on the national "do not call registry" and I was going to file a complaint, that they should never call us again. Complaint filed with the FCC as well as my local police department.
