I get messages like this a lot. Claiming they are collecting for Revenue Canada. Yes I do owe money to my student loans. I was making anywhere from 100-300$+ payments monthly for well over a year and gave up because my amount owing never changed.  It never decreased due to extremely high interest rate. Felt like I was wasting my money. ?

The first call was marked "unavailable" the recording said that if I did not contact the number it gave me in 4 hours legal action would be taken. I did not call that number because the first to call was unkown.

Call asking for my husband by name and initial, to call Janet Calahan at 888-255-0265 Ex. 2016 and a reference # think they said they are from BC. We are in ON.

I came home from work and had an automated message on my answering machine. It did not ask my name, just a generic message.  I called it back since I've received bill collectors calling for someone's name I can't even pronounce, who had my phone number before I had it. I called it back, and to my dismay they were asking for me. I have a perfect credit score, and when I told them there was a mistake the man on the phone talked over me and told me I need to learn how to pay my bills. He told me it was a bell Canada account that was outstanding. I explained to him that I had cancelled bell over a year ago and had actually overpaid my bill and that they had sent me a cheque. I contacted bell and they said I have never had a bill outstanding. The man who called me had my date of birth as well as my SIN. When I told bell this, they said they never give out this information and that it was more than likely a scam. Bell told me they would fax over my record of payment over the last 10 years and to not give any money to this company. It is now with bell Canada's head office researching the claim. Has anyone else had questions about this company regarding identity fraud?

I worked in Collections, and they told us to be rude like that.   They said this is not customer service and we could say anything to the "Debtor" as long as we did not swear at them.

I know of Collectors who would tell "Debtors" that if they do not pay, they cannot get a job or go back to school because they have ruined their credit rating.   I mean, it is your job to collect money and here you are telling someone they could never get a job??...

Not only that, but the only jobs (that I know of any ways) that do credit checks on their Employees are Banks.   I have never heard of any post secondary school doing credit checks on their potential students.

You of course have the right to charge them with harassment, for a number of reasons.

#1- they are only allowed to call you from 8am - 8pm.    Moreover, if a message is left, they can only leave one message a day, and after that message is left they cannot call you again that day

#2 - They cannot be swearing or saying un professional things to people.

#3 - They cannot threaten legal action on the first call.   Also they can only say "we are suing you today" or "taking you to court" if there is a lawyer present at their company.

I had a stupid agency call me about a $50.00 parking ticket and told me if I do not pay by 4pm today, they would be suing me.   I told them, "OK see you in court"...I mean come on, take me to court for $50.00??....these people still have not learned that threatening people with legal action and law suits does not work any more.   Considering it will cost them about $1,000.00 for their lawyer fees and paper work to collect what??...$50.00??

Received call from this number at 9:12 FM on March 2 2012.  Comes up unavailable on caller I'd.  No message left.   Annoying and harassing call.  Think I received more calls from this number in the past
One more call and authorities will be notified.

I got a phone call myself.  I know I have debt, I've been laid off 3 times, unable to find a job, so I went back to school so I can better myself to find a job.  This guy called my mom, harassed her, posed as a friend of mine, got angry with her, got my cell phone number, and just called me telling me I don't have the luxury to go back to school when I owe people money.  He pretty much ripped me a new a$$hole about how I'm scum and that finding jobs isn't difficult and getting laid off isn't an excuse.  I called some debt management companies and told them what happened, they were all fairly disgusted and said they get paid to be bullies, and the next time they call back, just laugh at them, it will ruin your day.  They also advised me that it's illegal for them to say the things they did, and I should speak with a member of parliament in my city because that kind of conduct is against the law.

Lol I got a fake name in the phone book and they call asking for that name. so I know anyone is pure bs when they call asking for that name. I had some fun with them.

They are scumbags. Always ask them to provide verification of debt. They usually can't.

Just got a message from a lady Linda from ARC vancouver with extension 2035 and some message/file number... to call her back immediately... yet to call her and came across this site... what is this guys

i owe money on student loans but am on disability social assistance at the moment as my health deteriorates more and more.i am constantly harrassed by bill collectors even though i tell them i don't have enough money to get by on much less pay student loans.they call every day i don't answer but today
my mom answered the phone from this number and she asked the guy to stop calling so much (she is ill and needs her sleep) and he replied with "well tell her to pay her damn bills and we will stop!"and then he hung up on her.
very very rude and inconsiderate. the phone # is my mom's not mine but it is the only contact number i have,the constant phone calls are making her as nuts as me.if i had the money i would pay and i find it very wrong that even after you prove you only get a pittance they still have the right to harrass you to the point where you want to die just so they will leave you alone.unfortunately i have no proof he said this so i can't file a complaint.

They start calling around 7 am and continue calling until 10 and 11 pm daily.  I spoke to them once about 3 months ago.  They told me I had an outstanding debt that was due immediately in full or they would be launching a lawsuit against me, and take my house.  When I asked them to verify proof of the debt, who it was to and the account # that went with it they told me that they only had the amount and the account # for their own company.  So I very politely told them that until they can provide me with the original account # of the actual debt, that there is nothing I can do about this matter and to please stop calling me.  The lady got really snotty, and her exact words where..." We will see your lazy a** in court"... and then she hung up on me.  They have been calling and leaving messages on my answering machine at least 15 times every day.
Do I not have the right to ask where the original debt is from, and to have an account # to verify that the debt is mine?  I am contemplting having the company charged with harassment!

Don't take any calls from ARC, i had a debt that was put into their hands and over the course of 2 years these a%$&*($s bled me for almost 10k, when time came for them to make good on what they had promised me and my lender they couldn't so they shipped it to another collection agent, at which time i asked them for invoices be sent to the new company showing how much money i had paid them, the guy at ARC told me that he had no record of me paying any money towards my debt! These people are criminals and I'm just biding my time.

You lie all day on the phone then you come on here to lie?  LOL.  Your a "guy who collects money"  ... unsuccessfully, obviously, else you wouldn't need to come on 800notes to run you SCAM ... err I mean "do your job" hehe.

Just got a call from this number and threatened me with my boss and a whole bunch of stuff. Who can I call to report them and have them investigated ?

My daughter just got an "urgent" call from 888-255-0265 ext 2036 of ARC.  Tony Mackie sounded stoned but was definitely in a hurry to speak to my boyfriend.  I will be calling it back to see who this person is.  He freaked out my daughter and she doesn't freak out easily.

i got a call from this number just today as well. i kept on hanging up on them, but they called back about 10 times in a row. when i picked up and didn't say anything, the guy kept on saying "talk, talk, talk ! Speak!" Really scared me.. and also, i let the answering machine run because this person kept calling... he left a message saying that i stole his money and he's coming to get it or something...(with a really bad english grammar) i hope no one else has this problem

Just received a call from some woman looking for my nephew. When asked who was calling, we were told it was a gov't agency, making it sound as if they had aid for him. Don't know where he is, nor do I care.
Just looked up the # and discovered this site, and wouldn't you know it? Damn bill collectors! (The lying b*****ds!)

Get Advanced call forwarding from your phone Company and forward their calls to a fax machine number.

I also got a call from this number today. Sounds like a scam. The voice mail says there is a claim against me. She could get my name right. Thanks for this posting, I am not intending to return the call.
