I received a red alert message on my computer this morning saying that my machine had been hacked and my personal information was in danger.  The message asked me to call the same number 888 261 2180 as it was suppose to be Microsoft support.  this message had my computer locked up.  I called the number and was talking with someone with a foreign voice, that wanted my name my machine numbers, Microsoft reg. number, and I told him I'm not comfortable giving you that information and that I will take care of the problem myself.  After I hung up, I ran my antivirus programs and nothing was detected, except a thief!!

These are payday scams do not pay them!  I did and a month later the calls started again only with new names and a new company. If you actually had a loan from a payday company and you think you may owe them call them directly!

I recieved a call yesterday from a "PRIVATE NUMBER"  and the lady said she was "Investigator Martin" from the "Financial Crimes Investigation Unit" stating that they were going to have me arrested for check fraud.  This is BS.  1) we have never had a payday loan...2) we dont even have a checking account, and havent had one...When I call back, no one answers...do they not realize it is illegal to threaten people on debt collection anyway?  Also, there IS a statute of limitations on checks...bet most people dont know that either...I dont have to worry about trying to "get out of paying" something, as I dont owe anything in the way of a pay day loan or otherwise...and havent had a checking account in 10+ years....so wouldnt have qualified for a pay day loan anyway....

I got a call from this company for total lending pay day loan. Stated was law offices of freeman and freeman. The attorneys handling the case was david ross or mark thompson. They are supposedly located in maryland.

So I haven't heard from these people since I called and left a message on the newest number they gave me and informed them that they would not be able to empty my account and that I knew it was a scam and the more disorganized they became with not being able to debit for some unknown reason and changing numbers with the latest one coming up as an India mobile number, was proof enough for me. Then YESTERDAY, I got a phone call from a lady from the India mobil number and now she is saying that she is with Freeman and Freeman and needs to discuss an arrangement I made with her company and to call her back. She said her name was Miss something. I don't remember the last name but who identifies themselves as Miss anything and why are they calling me after a month has gone by with no word from them?       I guess they've gotten settled somewhere again and have been able to set up a method to debit money from accounts and are ready to try me again as if I could be so stupid to fall for this now. If you get a call from them, research research research and then please post every thing to help warn others.

So I guess we are doing good by spreading the word cause the number is indeed disconnected and the day after I posted all of this a different man called me with a new number. On 3-22 I was called by Guy James and he gave me this number to call back 877-895-1946. When I immediately called this number back it went to an answering machine for "David Ross". In the message they had told me to continue to be sure the money is available for their debit to keep my account current. I called another three times and no one answered. Today is the 24th. I get paid every other week and tomorrow is my next payday. I fully expect them to try and debit my account for as much as they can. Since it has been two weeks and they have not even taken the $100 that they were supposed to on 3-11, what other explanation could there be? so I stopped my direct deposit and they can try to hit that account tomorrow but they won't be successful. If you are being hassled by these people, go and check your credit and see what is really in collections and call them directly or if you have a lot of credit issues then call a company that specializes in debt consolidation. Then you'll know when its bs cause you won't have calls or letters from any company anymore. Also sign up for a credit report agency that monitors you're credit so you will know when someone attempts to open something in your name. Bad people are out there and these people are bad. Btw this new number is an India mobile number.

This is such a huge scam. I sent them a validation letter by certified mail and it came back as "return to sender" because they had moved with no forwarding address. How convenient is it that their phone is now disconnected.

I gave them my info too! What happened with you? They were going to debit $100 out on 3-11 and they didn't and then they called and told me that they had an outage at their payment processing unit on 3-14 and to make sure the funds were available and it would be taken care of in 72 hours and today is 3-21 and I haven't heard from them, they haven't taken the money and when I call the number it says its not set up to receive phone calls and disconnects me. I have canceled the direct deposit that usually goes in that account cause I don't know if they are trying to take a lot from at some random point or what.... I don't know if they're for real either. :(

Please read my post from today and tell me why they haven't made the debit and why this number is no longer accepting calls and why they haven't taken the funds or explained to me what is going on?

This investigator called me from an unknown number. Spoke quite and fast and she said I had to call 888-261-2180 and speak to attorney David Ross or face criminal charges for check fraud. I called the number and was told mr ross was in deposition all day and I spoke to attorney mark thompson. He told me that I defaulted on a payment to some payday loan and that they were pressing charges if I didn't pay. I gave him my account info and the payment was going to come out 3-11 and it didn't and then on 3-14 mark thompson called me and said the payment processor had a power outage and to keep the finds available for 72 hours. Today is 3-21 and they still haven't taken the payment and when I call this number it says it cannot accept calls and disconnects me.

I am not a shill; I am being responsible for what I did, and letting everyone else know that this company is legit as far as I can tell. I have been scammed before, but not by this particular company.

Wow your life must really suck if you're so desperate that you have to shill for this scam! Can't get honest work huh?

Okay, I thought this was a scam at first, but I did remember getting a payday loan about a year ago. I called my bank and they verified the same exact date and the amount that Mr. Ross told me. I called him back and arranged to pay the out of court settlement and they sent me a receipt letter with their law firm info on it, as well as proof that the charges were dropped to my house about a week later. This is NOT a scam. If you took out a payday loan and didnt pay it, you have to expect to be held accountable for it sooner or later.

I got the same call, i contacted Mr Ross and found out it was about a bad check i wrote. i talked to my bank and they verified it and also said Mr Ross was retained. I did write the check, i just didnt realize it bounced. It wasnt any kind of scam cause i talked to my bank

I GOT A CALL FROM THIS # ALSO THEY SWARE THEY WAS AN ATTY OFFICE (BULL S***) THEY PUT ME ON HOLD AND NEVER CAME BACK TO THE PHONE.............

I got a call too. A woman left a vm on my work telephone to call David Ross about a check fraud issue. They would pursue me in court if I did not return the call. Complete scam. Got another one like this about 3 months ago. When I told them I worked for a bank, they never called me back.

Yes, they have gotten me too, leaving two messages on my work cell.  States "This is investigator Martin with Check Fraud....etc. etc......call Atty. David Roth's office....a summons will be issued against you, with dates and times being set without your knowledge.  Gave this 888 number to call back.
I am going to call and ask for a mailing address and check with the Better Business Bureau on this company.

I got the same phone call, my husband actually took it, said they were going to file criminal charges against me if I didn't take care of the defaulted loan.

Original caller said this is Inspector Martin with the check fraud precention something or other and that I needed to call attorney david ross to straighten everything out. Had him scared to death, gave him the debit card number and everything..;...until i started checking, had that card deleted from the account now.

Just received the same message on my vm at work. They called my mom who lives 500 miles away yesterday. when she called back and asked for this David Ross, they hung up on her. This is nothing but a scam, I am not returning the call. If they really had a summons to serve, they would just serve it. When I listened to the message, it sounds recorded or scripted.

They just called my mom about check fraud and a payday loan.....they left a detailed message about this on my moms phone, about me, which is illegal.

They are doing the same thing to me however I paid the payday advance so... I dont understand why they are calling me.

This company also contacted me and my friends at work.  Did you find anything out about them?

I got this call today too. I did a payday loan about a year ago. I do see where they are debt collectors. I filed Chapter  13 bankruptcy and my attorney said they can not collect on this any more and can not file charges on you there was not any checks written. I work at a bank so I really do not want them calling me here. I'm getting ready to call a criminal attorney and get them on the case to stop the calls, after I talk to one I will repost what I found out. Hang tight!

I just got a call with the same info as above, check fraud and about a summons being issued.  I certainly don't trust it and am not calling back.  If it is legit they'll have to send it certified mail or have a cop serve me.

I stand corrected it Investigator Walker with Financial Crimes Investigative Unit for Attorney David Ross - whoever that may be.  Issuing a summons....funny who calls to tell you they are issuing a summons most people just do it if they are doing it.  Check fraud? Never was a check written.....

Walker Investigative Services call David Ross to stop this summons which they will complete without your knowledge if you don't call them back - so thats what they claim - for fradulent check - check was never written and if its for a summons then why don't they serve me with a summons which is the "legal" and proper way to do things.  So what they are doing is neither legal or proper.  Scare tactics is what this is which is ILLEGAL - when you think of Walker Investigative Services they must be watching too much Walker Texas Ranger episodes on tv.

My office rec'd a call from someone claiming to be an investigator (investigator Walker) with attorney David Ross.  The woman spoke with a heavy accent muffled by a ton of static.  Left a message regarding a former employee of ours who was let go over 2 years ago and something about check fraud involving our company and we are required to contact them to avoid further litigation.  I called this number back and a man answers the phone saying "law office", I tell him what our message said and I am calling to find out what this is about and he puts me on hold.  3 minutes later when no one returned, I hung up.  They never called back.  Sounds like a scam to me!

I received a call from them also I want to know is this real or a scam?? They have all my banking information and everything and saying that I'm facing criminal charges for a payday loan that was taking out on 10/2008.
