Unfortunately, a friend of mine dealt with this loser in trying to buy property and darn near LOST EVERYTHING!!!  Best advice I can give?  Stay FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY from this man, Allyn Brennan!!!!  YEARS later (a whole 7 to be exact) they are still feeling the negative financial aftereffects of having dealt with this monster.  He is the biggest crook, a scam artist, and he belongs behind bars, and I for one will be ever so grateful when he finally gets there!  BEWARE!!!!!!

Asking for an attorney referral, that his financial advisor has advised him accordingly, that he needs an attorney and his financial advisor to work the deal in case he/she cannot make the viewings. He makes reference to real estate properties on the MLS, however, just like dumb criminals do, he/she makes huge mistakes which of course I will not list here as I am not that stupid to give them details to perfect their crime.

Please be aware that the same scam we emailed you about a few weeks ago is still in the area.  The request is the same, but the name is changing.  We have heard from many of you that you have been contacted by this person as the listing agent or from anther REALTOR® presenting an offer.  Below is the latest example of a request.  He then puts down a large escrow deposit  with a check and soon thereafter has an emergency of some sort and needs to cancel the contract.  He asks for the return of the escrow money and is on his way.  The original check never clears.  

Here are two examples of the latest contact we have heard.  Different name, but from what we have heard similar set up.  As always please keep your eyes and ears open!!

Example 1:

In looking over an offer one of our Brokers received here is part of his reply to the other agent.

1.       Although your Dr appears to be from the UK his e-mail address has a Hong Kong extension.
2.       The proof of funds letter is far too detailed.
3.       Enter ?Dr  Peter Schofield Scam? into a Google search and you get this page 0 slightly different name but include the proof of funds reference from Global Financial.

Just came across this thread.  A few years ago (March/April 2010) I received a similar email from a "Wu Gregoery" wanting to buy a $100,000,000 condo from me sight unseen.  It sounded fishy from the start but  I told them (standard procedure) they'd have to send a contract deposit for $10,000 (10% of the purchase price) to lock in the property.  After some back and forth emails, they soon sent me a (fake) check from AXA Insurance (CANADA) for $96,000!  "Mr. Green Sound" was the alleged account manager.  

The explanation for the BIG $86,000 difference was (and here's the best part) the that they wanted me to purchase for them:
"Chinese home style furniture, Chinese style home entertainment, Chinese home decoration and Chinese kitchen appliance in Japan that I will be bringing to this property I love my tradition and I want my home to look like little China Mansion."

Cracks me up every time I re-read the emails!

I have read your posted scam information wherein you state "attached is a copy of the check" but I can't find an attachment.  We are currently involved in a similar scam and I'm trying to put together all the information I can gather.  Would you please forward to me a copy of the check?  Was it written on the Bank of Nova Scotia?  Have you heard of a financier named Peter Andrews or a buyer by the name of Jim Park who works in the Netherlands but he and his wife, Carol, live in Canada.  This sounds familiar, doesn't it?

I haven't read through all the posts, but I just received the same email by a Poo Chan,
This might be a scam that i saw a couple of years ago.  the buyer supplied a Canadian 'cashier's check' for a security deposit on a home.  Buyer never saw the home and decided to cancel.  Buyer wanted funds WIRED back.  It took a couple of weeks to determine that the cashier's check was never good.

I also got an email from a Qi Lee who wants to purchase a house in Moorestown, NJ. He wanted everything done via docusign and i am gald I learned about docusign but will not let this guy fool me any longer.  I too do not know how they are making any money on this scam.   He wants wire information for his 50,000 to go into but that wire information is strictly for his money.  So where is the scam? He can have the house as long as his money is in the bank?  I will be calling my co op tomorrow after reading all these emails.   Thanks everyone for posting. Always, if it is too good to be true then if most likely is not true.

We received this email earlier today.....  After researching the sender on google, we came across this plethora of information on email scams.  I believe this to be yet another amongst them.  This person initially registered on our website to receive listing alerts and responded to one of our emails with the message below (the items in quotes have been replaced to protect "the innocent")  ;).  We responded initially to this email that a cashier's check and proof of funds be sent overnight to our office for the EMD for us to begin the process  There was no response to this email but within 14 hours we received the same exact email message but for another local listing.  This may or may not be the same person/group of people as your other posts, but seems to be a scam nonetheless.  Again...if it seems too good to be true, you know the rest...  trust your gut!  Who buys a house, sight unseen, without even a realtor checking out out for them?!
