I got the same call with the warning of process services.  I called the number  only to find out who they are.  They also said "pacific legal Services".  I hung up, what has happened with your credit or has the Attorney general done anything?

this number is calling us non stop saying that they are on their way in the next hour. next call saying they have been to the house three times and now they are filing with the court that we are hiding from being served. Check county records no such account listed in county they keep referencing. this has to be a scam. not calling them back.

I got a call from this guy saying that an officer was on his way to my house to deliver a summons to appear in court for a law suit against me and if I didn't call them back within 2 hours then they'd report me as evading the summons and have a warrant for my arrest issued. I called them and they said that if I went to court then I'd owe $2000.00 but if I settled out of court then I'd only owe $743.00 and I had to pay it within 24 hours. I told them that I didn't have this debt that they said I owed but I didn't want to go to court and couldn't afford the $2000.00 so I gave them my debit card info and they said that they'd send an e-mail within 15 minutes showing the details of our agreement. I didn't get the e-mail and called them the next day. They said that they sent it. I still hadn't gotten the e-mail by the end of the day and called them back. They said that they'd send it again and to look for Matt Burns on the e-mail. I got it within seconds and if stated that I agreed to pay more than what we had talked about. I called them back. They said that it was a typing error and that they'd resend it with the corrections. It's been 2 days and still nothing. I got suspicious and looked up my credit report. On the credit report it said that the debt was charged off and the account had a $0 balance. I called the original creditor HSBC and they said that it was cleared. I called the debt collector back 888-262-6016 and spoke with a Eric Vera. He said that I still owed the debt. I called the States Attorney General and spoke with them. They advised me to cancel my debit card and get more information before just agreeing to pay a debt that I had already paid off. I called the man - the debt collector back and said what company or firm are you with. He said Pacific Legal Services. I looked up the info on the internet and found the address and phone # in Ca. so I called them. An attorney at the PLS answered and said that they had went bankrupt 8 months ago and that they didn't handle this kind of debt collection anyway. The attorney asked me for the phone # of this debt collector 888-262-6016. He googled it on the internet and found that it was a SCAM. I immediately called my bank and cancelled my debit card. Reported it to fraud and the IFC and the BBB. I have a meeting set up with the local police department tomorrow.

Received a call from a "Julie Wilson" from this number stating the same thing; call within 2 hours "or else".  They called my parents house in addition to my house.  I can't even begin to understand how they connected me to my parents.  It's unheard of as there is no tie to them and plenty of people with the same name.
I called the number back and rather than the typical "thank you for calling *name of company* the message said, you've reached "corporate offices" and that's it.
Is this place legit or not?

Just received a message from "Matt Burns" with the "process server" in my county, saying he needed to "schedule" to have a uniformed officer serve me a summons either at my place of residence or work, and I had three hours to return the call to this number. He said three attempts would be made, and this was the first attempt. According to my ex-husband who is a LT. with the local sheriff's dept., when law enforcement serve papers, they just serve them, they don't call first and "schedule an appointment"  My best guess is that it is a bill collector trying to find some way to "scare" you into calling them back.

Got the call today from Allen Miller. Same routine. Somewhere my name was associated with someone with the same last name.

I RECEIVED A CALL FROM (SAMANTHA BROOKS FROM A SERVER OFFICE GIVING 2 HOURS TO RETURN CALL OR THEY WOULD HAVE A UNIFORMED OFFICER SENT TO MY ADDRESS TO SERVE PAPERS FOR A SUMMONS TO APPEAR IN COURT IN OUR COUNTY ON THE EAST COAST.  THE NUMBER THEY CALLED FROM WAS 888-262-6016.  THIS IS CRAP.

called my parents house but had my address listed correctly. saying it was for a summons in my county and they were sending a uniformed officer or process server to my address and I had 2 hours before the person to issue the summons to me. That was last thursday haven't heard or seen anyone.

I got a call from "Samantha" giving me 2 hours until a process server comes to my house, at an address where I do not and have never lived at and gave me a person's name too that was to be served, whom I have never heard of.

Yeah, right, like they are going to warn you before they serve you!

Sounds like a Phishing Trip to me and this person is not biting!!!  *<><

This is not necessarily a scam. This company has purchased old debt and is now breaking the federal and state collections law trying to collect it. I received a call today saying suit was already filed. I have contact both the municipal and civil court in my county to verify this is not the case. The address this company gave me is to a shopping mall in Ocean Side, CA. I contacted store located in this mall and verified that this office does not exist at that address.

I got same call from samatha and eric vera.
he got ahold of some old records some how.

I got the exact same call except he said he was Alan Miller from Sacramento County. I live on the east coast. Total scam!

I went to the county sheriff's office and they do not have a summons for me, I also went to the city where I work and they do not have a summons either! Sounds like a fishy phishing scam!!!!
