I've received two robotic messages from this number stating to call back between certain hours for "return information" for equipment. I have no idea what it is about. I have had this Virgin mobile number for less than a year so maybe they are trying to collect money from the prior user? It's a weird way to do it though. I guess it works on people according to all the googling I've done about this subject.

I am not sure why they are calling I don't think I owe them anything. If I do I want to see it in writing send it to me by mail...

It's just RCN looking for money. They can get really annoying so best pick it up and make a paynent, or arrange to pay late.

Called every 2 hours without leaving a message.

This is RCN.  They call every 1.5 - 2 hours on the exact day the bill is due.  I've had them for two years.  Moving in the next few weeks and I am DROPPING them.  Not only is RCN service the worst in terms of quality but RCN contractors extort new customers on installations.  We've made three separate complaints to RCN about this very issue and they do NOTHING.  Another thing -- RCN installation contractors do "side jobs" when they wire up businesses for RCN service.  One of my customers wanted a video surveillance system.  We were scheduled to do the install until an RCN contractor cut our throat and made a "sweet" deal.  Well, long story short, they installed the system.  It doesn't work.  And there's nothing my customer can do because it wasn't an RCN "install".   RCN = Rotten Cable Network

It is from a collection agency....I tried to cancel RCN service! Finally got a competitor hooked up...RCN is tryinbg to bill me for service I never received!

I'm getting spammed repeatedly by this number.

IT is RCN. They never leave a message. I am a customer with horrible service, they cant fix the problem and I will not pay them until they fix the problem. THEY ARE AWARE of their inability to fix my phone line, but still continue to harass me with these phone calls for money. And I am only about just a month late with payment. THEY start calling you when you are one day late. They never leave a message or identify themselves through the caller ID. I have complained about this. They told me there is nothing they can do, this is the way their system works. THEY STINK as a company. I will be filing with the FCC and BBB and anyone else who I can think of to file a complaint against them. This has been an ongoing prob for over a year of crappy service.

Received 2 calls from this number on a new cell on the day after thanksgiving.

Picked up 3rd call from 888-266-6250 after seeing info from this site; wanted to confront caller but it was an automated call.  Called number but they were closed for the day (Friday, 6:40pm ET).  Annoying because I'm not even a RCN customer.  Don't even live in their service area.  They must have the wrong number (they've been calling my cell phone).  How do I get these idiots to stop calling?

YES, this is a collection service associated with RCN.  I just resolved a problem with my account (they were wrong) and credited me but a day later this number came up on my cell phone.  After reading here I am sure it is the collection service they threatened to sen dme to.

Do not sign up for RCN! They are calling me every two hours to collect on an account that I cancelled 2 months ago. No one lives at the address, I have contacted them several times trying to cancel, and all equipment has been returned. Once you sign up for RCN, you will NEVER get rid of them! Don't sign up to begin with.

RCN is a stalker cable company and their service sucks.  They call every two hours even after they have received and cashed the check.

Well, if RCN is a cable service, this isn't them.  Not exclusively, anyway.  I missed a call from this number this morning, and they didn't leave a message.  RCN doesn't serve anywhere near me, so this is probably just an outsourced collection agency.

Its RCN, yeah they been calling all day.  It does seem like they call every 2 hours or so, but no messages.  What the hell is up with this?  I read the messages on here, if this keeps up; I'm going to have to look into other services for cable, internet and phone.  I wonder how many people are getting fed up with RCN over this...

Just called to tell them that I mail my bill off 1 day late, since I was in Michigan visiting my mother who is very ill.  I have never been late with RCN about paying my bill and this is the first time in 5 years.  I talked to a person and she say the only way the phone calls stop is when they get the check, that can take up to 5-7 days of RCN calling every two hours.  So pissed about my phone ringing every 2 hours, going to change to AT & T now, anyways they seem to save me a lot more money.  DO NOT GET RCN, they SUCK!

This number has appeared in my phone id, calling every two hours on some evenings, as LATE as 10:30 PM.  no message is ever left to identify the caller or purpose of the call.  

One call with one message as to the caller's id and return number at a reasonable hour would result in a return call from me.  

As it is, I had to google this number to determine the source of the anonymous calls, AND  to determine how to contact them as their contact number is listed in letters which my phone does not have on it.
