She calls me at work and asks for me by name.  I say this is him.  She says hang on a second, then says "actually sir you can disregard this call."  Hmmm

Been getting a few calls each day from Nelson Watson - they never leave a message.

I've been getting calls from 888-269-XXXX (the last 4 digits keep changing) for a few days now. They don't leave voicemails, and when I pick up I say, "Good morning!" and only hear dead air. Is there a way to stop them from calling?? I'm a college student and don't have any debt!

They call me, and I just let it vibrate. They try to do a "skip trace" and they got a phone number to a home that I dont even live at.  They never leave any message.

I talked to the authorities and they said that if it continues you can place a lawsuit against them for calling but first you have to write them (not verbal) and tell them to cease and desist calling you. They HAVE to do it.

As for you Jennifer: I've worked in collections before. A collection agency CANNOT sue you. The company that you've dealt has "sold" your account to them because the original company could not collect from you.

Secret: As long as you pay something (even $5) in the form of a MONEY ORDER they cannot refuse it because it's as good as money.  And you do NOT have to make a payment arrangement over the phone with ANY collection agency. You can demand to strictly be dealt with by mail only, and they have to because it's the U.S law.  It's their job to stress and threaten you because the moron on the phone gets a percentage of any account they settle.

So if you get a call from these people, don't answer and eventually it will stop. If you get a call from them at your job, you can tell them to cease/desist from calling your employer and then you have 7 days from that verbal request to send it to them in writing. They do not want to be sued so they better abide by the law. My lawyers eats collection agencies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Well, I don't even know bcuz I don't owe anything. Only a cable bill. I think they are a fake company trying to get money. I just picked up and said wrong #. The weird thing is, they found my work # and started calling me at work as well. That's very bad. These people are like stalkers!

Yes, I have and have unfortunately called them back, giving out payment information over the phone. I want something in writing specifically stating how much I owe on the account and I want them to stop threatening to sue me over this. It's a newer account for crying out loud. It has left me feeling like a heel, stuck in a hole so deep that it's tough for me to get out. Not to mention an upset stomach and almost throwing up this morning worrying over it.

I actually called them - my number isn't even listed in their database so they don't know why they are calling me and can't stop it from happening.

Wow! I just got a call from these freaks! I don't know who they are or what they want.... but.... I hardly ever hear the phone, I usually have it on vibrate! HA! And Andy! Great comment! They are all losers! Oh and no messages left!

If you morons that work for collection agencies had a brain you would be working at a real job instead of pretending to be so high and mighty. Get a life you losers.

They call here daily. When I answer, there is music playing. Then, CLICK! They hang up! This has happened many times so far!

Thank you for the info.  I had gotten over 60 calls from Nelson-Watson for an unknown (to me) person, but those were coming from another number: 800-842-1795.  I turned off my answering machine and calls from this other number have stopped.
