Would you be offended if I asked you what loan company it is? I am getting these calls too and also have an old loan from years ago that was not paid, so I am wondering if that is the same company.

I just received this call...saying it was my second call.  Saying I had broken a contractual agreement and they would take me to Court.  I called the number to see what it was about and was auto put on hold.  I looked up the number in Google and found this site.  Very sketchy.  After reading these posts I am confident it is a scam.

This was a message left on my machine telling me of some "contractual break" and threatening court action.  It wasn't my name.  Call came from 705-872-4372. Demanded that I call back at 1-88-270-0223. I did immediately.  A man with the same voice from the message answered.  I asked if he had left this message.  He asked my phone number and then said yes it was him.  i told him he had a wrong number . I was not the person he was looking for.  He said he would delete my number.  His attitude was surly and impolite.

Got a call from this same numer 888-270-0223 and they refused to answer any of my questions. Who can I report this to?

I'm still getting calls from these people on my cell every couple of weeks. Always the same prerecorded message saying this is the 'second notice' or something and then it gets threatening. No one answers when I call back and each time they call it's from a different exchange within a different province here in Canada. I don't owe money and they are asking for me by an old married name. It's not even me anymore! Very very annoying and frustrating.

We are expats and got a call at our back-home number.It sounds like a collection agency threatening legal action and asks for my husband to call 1-888-270-0223. Or else they will start legal action. There are no details and no information explaining what this is about. We have never received any mail from anybody about
this.

I've gotten repeated recorded messages on my machine that are all "Second calls" and threatening legal action. I do owe some money to some people, but will not respond to threatening phone calls, IF this is actually a legit call.

Got the call today and I was sketchy about it too. Turns out it was a scam. I've been getting these calls often and it's very annoying.

I've also had this number calling and leaving me threatening messages. Telling me they will be proceeding to Court. Meanwhile I have called THEM back and demanded for them to send me something in writing via regular mail, to which I have had zero response. They can keep right on threatening me.  However, it is bordering on harassment. They call my cell numerous times, and they call my house late at night when i'm trying to get my 15 month old into bed, resulting in ruining my attempts.  I want to block them.

Some poor smuck named Harrison Levine is in Bigggggg trouble.. They are calling every 2nd day & twice a day..
They are even leaving the message on my answering machine.. GIVE ME A BREAK!!??

I have been receiving unwanted calls from these people for months. They have always been recordings for the exception one time. The worst part of this is that they are looking for a "Tracey Allison" my name is not even that! And I have no clue who she is! It is annoying and I am getting erked. I called the office number they want "me" to contact them through however I sit on hold for time and hang up. I want these calls to stop! The one time it was a woman, I'm not even sure what company I told her who I am and she said she would be taking me off her calling list. I AM ANGRY AND ANNOYED

Get calls all the time at home from these lowlifes, and we just hang up, or I hum into the phone, or remain silent until they hang up. Sometimes they're silent too, so it's pretty funny.

Not funny that I got two calls at work, so I've contacted the telephone system in our organization to get some direction from them.

I love that they mispronounce words, and that they don't say who they are. Let's just call them, The Stupid Nasties. The best part is, I don't owe any money to a debt collector.

I received 2 calls to my home number in the last 2 days and they even had the nerve to call my work!!! I've returned all the calls but only get an answering machine. I told them to mail me!

I got the same call to my phone, but when I called them back all they asked for my number (I gave them it...im so stupid) they the girl said we will delete it and never call again...then she hung up....

What a dumb a**!  Lower than lowlife.  The tragedy in all of this is that this a***ole cannot see how stupid he really is!  What a pathetic individual!

Section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires 3rd-party debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt (the key word is *shall*) :
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing?
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer?s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor."

I got this call saying it was the second notice and that they're now taking me to court. I do have some debt from a loan but i dont remember ever getting any notice from them and the debt i have is insignificantly small. I'm not sure whether to even call them back but from these other posts it seems like a scam.

How do they know my name?

I called the number back on the recording. He would not provide me with any written notice saying I owe money to anyone. Told me I sound like someone who has many ex husbands and I'm a lying bi***. Harassment much?  Then he says he got my husbands work cell # (an oilfield company owns the phone) from my credit bureau. Not possible whatsoever. Now my hubby is getting this ridiculous message daily too.  Do NOT give this scumbag money!!!

My son received a message on his answering machine intended for me. This message stated this number. 1.888.270.0223. When I called the number there was no answer. Interesting point is I wonder how they connected him to me?

I got a message today while I was at work saying it was from law enforcement with the phone # 1-888-270-0223 really I guess that is suppose to scare me .

Report the call to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Advise the callers that you've reported them and that you're also recording all calls they make to you on the advice of your own attorney (even if you don't have one - scammers don't like to be recorded).

Bottom line - legitimate callers will have no problem MAILING you documentation proving you owe a debt to them.  If they refuse or say it's too late or any other such pathetic excuse, it means they're scammers.  It is a violation of the FDCPA to threaten debtors.  It is also a violation of the FDCPA to refuse to mail proof that the alleged debtor owes the debt to them.

Read the posts above - doesn't look legitimate, does it?  Generally speaking, when a caller threatens "order of enforcement" and that this a "second notice" when you never received anything in the mail - that means it's scammer.  So no, I'd say it's not "legit".

I just received the same call.  They said it was the second notice and now they are taken further action to formerly take an order of enforcement.  No other information was provided.  When I called the number 18882700223, an answering machine advised it was the Office of Gary Rendella(?) of NCR?  Is this a legit phone call?
