Another thing;  there's something called a Payment of intent. It could be $25 dollars a month. Tell the collector that you're in a financial hardship & make a small payment in good faith to prove that you want to resolve the matter. They may ask you for a larger amount because it's their job to get the most money at once. It helps their numbers in the long run. Law firms are typically not set up to drag out short payments on the long term. They are not financial institutions. You can usually also negotiate a settlement for sometimes half of what you actually owe. You'll save money & clean up your credit faster.

Yes, the company is legit and are one of the best agencies I've had to deal with.  They are willing to work with you and if you're in a financial hardship, they will try to get you the best price. Kindness goes a long way if you cooperate with them. They are most likely used to jerks hanging up on them, so if they call you, it's only because you owe a legitimate debt.  Supervisor Sandy Snow was very kind to me & professional & a pleasure to work with.

Gosh, this has you so hung up. Trimming out excerpts is not "falsifying". I'm not about to waste the court's time playing back all twenty-odd minutes I either was kept on hold by a collector or waiting for some rep to answer, as happened in a prior case. I'll play back what is pertinent, like all the moments I was jerked around and lied to. That said, I'm not so stupid as to not have uncut copies ready to submit if the judge wants them.

I'm pretty sure there won't be any "difference" apart from who even brings a recording. You and I both know that if anything disfavoring the FDCPA defendant lands on its recorder, your side will throw tantrums about how it's a "privileged business record" and "not relevant". Then after you're ordered to release, it will suddenly vanish in a "mechanical fault". I found a little script on line called (Beating up on the debt collector)by (Diane Summers) quite intersting,its in my book marks,its a law suit case aginst one of them ,it nails the lawyers on a felony charge .I just breezed thew it,I will have to go back over it with a fine tooth comb in my spare time. tird must sleep good by.

Has anyone out there had a conformation of paid in full from Allan Smith and this firm without a lawyer?And I am aware of the 1099 IRS that you get from them settling for less.Have they ever been honest and fair.They seem to only try to F___ people over.To try to speak with them is not an option by yourself.They dont seem to play fair.An honest person can be raked over the coles by them.You see if the debt is laget,we know they paid pennys on the dollar for it,I know it is not all you truly owe ,and if it is yours they seem unwilling to settle with a one time done deal.I read all about them doing crazy things to honest people,like taking huge amounts out of their checking accounts ect.I like the queen that works in the biz ,she spilled some beans. My question is how should a person deal with this firm without a lawyer?

That is one sweet paper,happy you one.So they had to pay you back.I get so many calls from bill collectors for other people and people with the same very common as ours. I pay my bills, Most of the calls are very annoying .I am not renewing my phone contract,and getting rid of it.I also have been getting calls for some woman i never heard of for a good ten years,sounds like an older womans name,she is probaly dead or in a nursing home an had my phone number before me.I wish they would stop calling me.next time they call for the woman I think I will say wait. and call her name and tell the collector she is sitting in the chair and scared to get on the phone,she wont talk, she is a ghost and I see dead people.

Hide or sell all of your assets ,down your bank accounts,sell all you own to a close buddy for $1.00 with state sales tax and do it with a notary stamped,and and there are incomes you can not garnish.So when the sheriff comes a knocking all that is left in the house is garbage you need to pay to get rid of ,so the landlord cant sue for not cleaning the place out before you move.When there is nothing to get ,well so what ,some people have nothing to loose and they are older and are ready for the state housing ,then I guess they would have extra cash in their own pocket for when they need it. Ya I know everyone has a situation. I know an old man that knows he lives in public housing and his income is lets say zombi proof ,so he calls the bill collectors for a joke.He tells them I miss you,do you want my money? He is zombi proof and he knows it, he is a fun kind of person too.Some older people know what they are doing.Some cats know how to use the state system to their advantage.Laws are put in place to protect people,free lawyer,on and on.There are others who know the tricks of being untraceable ,fall off the map until they are untouchable ,like the witness protection does,how could you even find them until 15 years later ,to late ha ha.Slick.No pun intended.

Nice to see some people do fight back. I was informed by a Pa. lawyer it is legal to tape them but just keep telling them you are taping them when they call.Then when you hang up get your cell phone or what ever means to take a photo and snap a pic of your caller ID ,it will have the date time ect., and keep a written log on everything.Do not alter anything .And give it to your lawyer ,he or she will make the right call with you have gathered . They say and do many things they should not. Screw the bill collector right back.Why not make them walk a tight rope by law.1000 per violation ,but it should be 5000 a pop for each and every time they violate.All stats have their own laws abide by them very carefully.Shoot they had me so upset for a while there ,now I know that is exactly what they want. As for the outcome of the cases (and some are still pending) hadn't had the time to read any of the rulings.  Information was shared for informational purposes only.
