I too have been receiving these calls for about 2 weeks now! I don't have any idea where they got my name or number. I haven't taken out any payday loans, credit cards or anything. I have called and they don't even have the last 4 of my social correct, but some how have my name, and every address I've lived at within the last 2 years. When I told the people I have NO idea why I would be getting calls, the woman told me, yea and so does everyone else who calls! Very rude, I eventually hung and told them I owe them NOTHING and furthermore you can't get blood from a turnip. I have yet to see anyone show up to serve me.

I've reported them, and it seems every time they call saying they are coming to serve me, it's with a different number. AG's office in Florida is looking into this number, and said not to worry, if they do show up by some chance, deal with them then, but chances are that majority of it is scare tactics. The company must send you proof they own the debt, if they don't or say you should have that info, 99% of the time its a scam. They can not threaten you by saying you could face criminal charges for fraud of anything, they aren't a judge. In the state of Florida it is Statue 559 which they are regulated by.

This company is a complete scam! If you owe a debt yes you need to make arrangements to get it paid but there are laws regarding the procedures to collect a debt. First this company, once they received the account should, by law, provide a dunning letter introducing their company and who and what debt they are collecting. This letter would serve as notice to the debtor and allow 30 days to dispute the debt. With this being said, this company is a complete scam. NO company can show up at your work, this is a scare tactic to get you to pay something you don't owe to them! There is nothing a debt collector can do to your drivers license or anything else unless they follow the proper legal procedures and if they have any legal paperwork, let them file it as they will have to disclose who they are and then you can completely research them and actually provide accurate information to the AG and FTC. You cannot find anything on this IAB and they never send out the dunning letter as required by law. If you have ever applied for a payday loan they have obtained your application data and are now using that against you, your family and references that you provided on the application. Everyone runs into tough times, if you find yourself in need of a payday loan, ONLY apply directly to the organizations that are the actual lender. If you look even at the company that Montel Williams is the spokesperson for, they tell you that they DO NOT provide the loans, they send your information over the internet to find a company willing to lend you the money. Don't be desperate, be aware and prudent with your dealing on the internet.

Yes, there are many reputable collection firms but this company is definitely not a reputable collection firm. Continue to report them to your state AG and the FTC. You can file a complaint online with the FTC. If they continue to harass you and your family and friends, for evey call they make to you and your friends, call them twice and use the key pad to input your account number for them.

I followed up with WI Atty Generals Office to discuss my scenario with IAG. The office informed me that this is a scam- threats to deliver documents/stand down then being told that no payment other than your credit card number is acceptable is a scam. They went on to say- hang up on these people and do not talk to them.  If you do answer, put the phone down and walk away leaving them on hold should make them eventually hang up.  Do not engage in conversations with them.  If you want to contact the WI state Atty Generals Office- call#608.266.1221 and ask to speak to someone who can help you with debt collection harrassment.

Kathy called- said she was delivering information that I had to sign for, or my manager would have to sign for it at my place of employment. She provided a # for me to call 888.280.6752-for stand down.  She would have to receive the fax before she delivered documents between 5-6pm at my place of business.  I called the number and was transfered to Litigation/Chuck. Chuck explained that a PayDay loan place said I owed thousands. He went off the phone for a while to ask if the company would set up payment arrangements with me.  He gave me 3 options- all not real options, but he wanted a bank card only- and would not take a certified check.  He said that if I didn't make the arrangements before then, papers would be filed in court.  I told him that I would call him back. I wanted to look up the company and see what I could find out.  I believe that this may play out differently depending on the state you are in.  I am in WI, so I will need to contact the Atty General Offices here to see what should happen next.

I have received several calls from "unknown" callers.  I never answer calls from unknown or restricted numbers, and when I listened to my voicemails earlier, I was rather annoyed by the gentleman, whose name was garbled, telling me that he was going to deliver time-sensitive legal documents to my home tomorrow and if I had questions to call the above mentioned number.  When I call the number, I reach a company named AIG, who is attempting to collect on a payday loan that was taken out in my name over 5 years ago.  The bank account, identifying information, etc. was all invalid information..except for the name and the ssn.  I havent had a bank account with the bank they listed in over 7 years, and when I informed them of that, they started trying to force me to make payment arrangements on a loan which I never took out and told me that if I pay it off I can then make a police report and have authorities investigate the fraudulent loan while at the same time prevent this from going on my credit report.  COMPLETE BS if you ask me.  It is illegal harrassment and I have filed a complaint with both my state attorney general's office as well as the better business bureau, and been informed by both places that this is not a laughing matter and that if I paid off the supposed loan and it was later investigated and determined to be fraudulent, that I would have to go through small claims court and sue the company to get my money, and all related fees and costs, recovered from the collection agency and/or loan provider.  It is AIG's resposinibility to investigate the validity of collection claims and if informed by a consumer that a past due account is fraudulent, it is also their resposibility, NOT the comusmers, to prove that the consumer owes the money.  If it is proven that you in fact owe for the account in your name, then you must be given adequate notification and documentation of verifying information and the opportunity to pay the account off.  If you still default or they cannot contact you for some reason following the investigation, they can choose to take you to local small claims court, but the case has to be filed in the county that the transaction occurred, and in order for the case to move forward, they have to prove that they succesfully served the consumer with court paperwork.  If you are served with court filing documents, you will have 30-90 days, depending on your state and county civil court filing requirements to submit a written response to the court.  At most, you will receive a judgment sentence by the court in which you have to set up payment arrangements with the loan company.  You won't be looking at jail time...so don't worry..it's just a bs scare tactic in an effort to con people in to paying for accounts in collections...which we all know aren't always accurate.  Hope this helps...

Got the call today from a restricted number.  Same line they gave everyone else in the message they left--need to talk to me, gonna file papers etc.  I called back and they claimed it was sent out of the office two weeks ago.  The girl I talked to them pulled up the paper copy and transferred me to a 'litigator'.  Litigator said it was on a payment to a bank account in 2010 (the bank account referenced was closed in 2008).  Said they had a written affidavit from the branch manager for Jan 2010.  I told them it was impossible as the account was closed in 2008.  And the job they had me working out I haven't worked at in three years.    Litigator told me that I'll just have to fight it in court--to get a lawyer as I'll have to prove my innocence...

Let's see if they find me.

I just got a call from someone name Melanie Noble saying she has time sensitive documents I need to sign and she was giving me a courtesy call to make sure that I be home in the next couple of days. She went on to say if she cant catch me at home she would come to my job and my supervisor would have to sign off on the paperwork as well. While she was "leaving the msg" someone in the background coughed which threw her speech off at which time she rushed and ended the conversation. Thanks to all of your posts I will disregard the msg.

Absolutely a scam, and an extortion attempt.  Tell them if they do show up, YOU will be calling the police.  Your supervisor will never need to be present even if someone does ever serve you with papers.  Good luck.

Just got a call from kevin Nealon..... same script as "CM" on 9/29.  They are skip tracers looking to verify contact info including work information so that they can harass you even more with collection calls. They have no legal documents that they are planning to deliver...just another scare tactic to try to get you to call back. I have no idea what they are looking for from me. But I will not call these clowns back.

This is a collection agency and these tactics are illegal under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  You can file a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office.  Mine was due to a payday loan with Ameriloan, but the agency collecting is IAG.  They will call whomever you listed as a reference but they are not allowed to disclose any information to anyone else regarding the issue such as how much you owe or what the call is in reference to.

I got a call from a local number on September 23rd. I was left a voicemail to to call this number because of legal action that had been filed against me. I called the number and they had some of my information. I was told that I had gotten an online payday loan and never paid it and was now being taken to court and possibly looking at jail time. I got disconnected from them and I have not been able to contact this company since. They won't answer the phone. I have gotten 2 more calls in the last 8 days. Same people who left the voice mail last time, but now they are calling from an "unknown" number. The last call I got was this morning and the guy said that he would be visiting me at my residence tomorrow and to sign some legal papers. If I couldn't be reached at home then they would come to my job. They said I had to have a witness present or my supervisor would have to sign off if they came to my job. My mother called me later this evening and said someone had called her earlier today and left a voicemail for me. It was the same voicemail I had gotten this morning. I am curious to know if anyone else that has received these calls has ever gotten a visit from someone and if so, what happened. Please reply as I am seriously concerned that these people have my mom's number as well as my previous address and previous employment.
