Is a scam one donation and you be called for a list of charities, file complaint with attorney general only way to get there attention

This was from the Navy for a donation which i made but now they still call and most of the time it is just a hang up.

Hung up when I answered.  I called the number back and got an answering machine saying United States Navy Veteran's Association.

Called and asked for my husband. When I asked who was calling, he said "ACS, I'm calling about a check he mailed". I told him there hadn't been a check mailed, to get over it, and hung up.  He was still talking when I did.

I got suckered into giving this outfit a donation last year.  I now have every charity in the world calling me.  "Beware!!"  Your name will go on some sort of "sucker list" and they must sell numbers to other blood suckers that call non-stop.

Asked for my first name, as if they knew me … Then just hang up.

Was on the phone when they called.  The ID said "Restricted."  I let it pass through to my voice mail. When I dialed up for the message, there was none.  Thanks to all of you for your input.  I won't follow up on this.

Calls every day, several times a day; won't leave voice message. My 82-year-old mother just hangs up.

THis number shows up every day on my caller ID but they never leave a msg

They called 7 times so far today and it is only 7:30PM. I added this number to the blocked call list. Thankfully, my phone provider's call blocking feature works.

I received the call this morning from the "Navy's Veteran's Association", I agreed to a donation of which they will send me something in the mail for (they did not take the donation over the phone).  Once I receive the notice in the mail, I will check the address where this goes to and follow up with the VA to see if it is legit.  My dad is a Navy veteran, so I one hand, I would like to donate, but of course I will not donate to a scam...I'll post again when I find out.

They called me and wanted a donation. I was nice, saying not in a position to donate at this time. They wanted to make it for "in the next 2 or 3 weeks". I said no, I'm sorry but I'm not interested. They are somewhat pushy, but he backed off when I started to get a bit snippy. Obviously the do not call list isn't as effective as we hoped it would be?

they possibly get our names and phone numbers from the do not call registry. who else would have them?

My comment is the same as all the others; some money given to "US Navy Veterans" by my trusting husband, and since we're getting one and two calls a day from a belligerent man. His phone number is registered as "888/281-2409". My telephone company suggested I call the police, which I will, for harrassment.
I'll also try to contact the US Navy Veterans Assoc. but am sure they already know about this.

When these callers call you...

Answer the phone with the speaker phone button; don't say a word to them; and, just walk away and continue what you were doing.  

It cost's them money for the completed call; waste's their time; and, you will get plenty of chuckles from them saying, over and over again, "Hello..." thinking they are about to score!!

A few rounds of this and they do not call anymore.

Called and asked from my husband, when I said I dealt with the money in the household, he said he would call back and speak to him, Since then, they have called me 12-15 times a day and hang up whenever I answer.

This is TERRIBLE!  If in fact they are calling to scam us!

I belong to SOldiers' Angels and we DO send packages, send mail, give the deployed and assist veterans.  

I am sick of this type of group, it gives us legit non-profits a bad name!!!

filed complaint with Do Not Registry/Blocked the number on my phone. They also called with another number after I blocked them: 1-800-898-4426

Everyone should take the time to file complaints against them wherever you can...the fact you call them back may end up working against you in the long run especially these days with identity theft, be wary don't talk to them and don't try to contact them, just file a complaint.

Call came in at 8:20 pm. Could hear someone in background saying wait, then the caller hung up.

received call informed wanted to check on the validity of the call by searching the website-caller insisted on sending the committed donation letter and about how the men/women are oversees during the holidays. As I insisted to make sure this was real the caller began to laugh then mysteriously the called ended-not from me hanging up.

called but left no message. Apparently Mr. Toll Free dialed my number by mistake.
