Of course it is scary to receive such a call, but they're not going to show up at your work.

Of course it's fake!  No legit debt collector calls ahead warning you of pending charges!  I smell a few FDCPA violations there.

Debt Collector
Got a call from a kid errr man that sounded like his balls had just dropped and he got his first signs of bass in his voice. It appears that they are "spoofing" their caller ID to make people think that they are calling locally.  Unfortunately I have a common name so I get calls for this one individual periodically throughout the year. I also have multiple phone numbers in multiple City/States and yep you guessed it I have received local calls from the same kid multiple times. I don't even know if he even knows he is calling the same person I believe that I am now on my umm 5th Final Notice per the phone calls.

This is just some fly by night collection group trying to cash in on the whole "Processor/Service Scam" They will soon have the same fate as the 3 collection agencies in Florida.

http://www.cfnews13.com/content/news/cfnews13 ... bt_collect.html

I have learned in the past not to even attempt to tell them it is a wrong number. It is like a Welcome everyone call me please sign. -- Straight to VM

And if you decided to call this number or any collection agency number mask the number you are calling from or that number will mysteriously become part of that persons history and you will receive calls until the end of time.

The to boy (and I use the term loosely) thank you for the good laugh!

I received a message from that exact same number (717-827-1276) about a claim that had been filed against someone with the same first name as mine but a different last name saying that they needed to call 888.292.9803. They wanted the address of residence and employment and said the same thing  - You've been notified! Weird!

I received a very scary message for my ex- sister in law that ended in You've Been Notified and a hang up regarding some file number and charges. No idea, but they got the wrong person! Call came from a 717-827-1276 number with this 800# to call back.
