Automated call left on answering machine reporting suspicious activity on account. Did not respond; deleted message.

Received a call this morning 5-31-09 at about 8:00 A.M. from "Rockwood Bank" saying my account has been suspended and that it would need to be reactivated. Further in the automated message I was asked for my 16 digit card number. I put in 16 random numbers to which I got the reply "Invalid number, please re-enter your 16 digit number". I wasn't sure if the caller was "Rockwood Bank" or my own bank since I was not near the answering machine as it was picking up the call and could not hear it clearly. I don't have an account with that bank and my card is not a "debit card" (to which the message referred) so I hung up and checked with my real bank about my card. It's fine and nobody from my bank called me.

I received a text mssg from:
gsqqmm@messaging.g.sprintpcs.com
"Your Rockwood Bank ATM Debit-Card has been suspended, please call 888 759 4732 to reactivate.
When I called it, last night (just hours after receiving the mssg); it kept asking me for my debit number.
Not only do I NOT have an acct with this bank; but to be honest, I never heard of it either. I tried bypassing the system with zero, and pound; but I could not get to a live person. Today, I tried calling the number, and it says, "The destination that you are trying to reach is unavailable at the time" - and then gives a busy sound.
I googled the bank, and came across the scam alert.
What worried me is that, back in September my wallet was stolen and I have been dealing with Identity Theft; but I am also on the NO-CALL list, so I too am quite concerned.

I received a call from Rockwood as well but was asked to call back at 888-769-4762. Same situation as mentioned above.

I found a message requesting that I call regarding some "unusual activity" on my account.
When I called back, a recording was asking my account number, then my pin.
Suspicious, I called my bank and found out that it was a scam.
I almost gave out my info!

Called my bank about this, not the number given. They knew right away what this was, apparently this is a scam for you to give them your pin number. Banks and attorney generals are aware of this. Do not give numbers to anyone.

A message was left on our home phone yesterday - automated call identified as Rockwood Bank report unusual activity on our account; tried calling the number, not available at that time (after 6pm) - tried calling Rockwood Bank.

No bank name, no person's name, when I called back, the number could not be reached at that time. "Inappropriate activity on your account." I never respond to those calls unless they identify themselves and I can call the bank or card company to verify. I NEVER give personal info over the phone...my institutions already have it. My wife got a call from "Rockwood Bank"....we have no dealings w/ the bank.

automated call indicating that there was unusual activity on our credit card and asks you to call the phone number, when you call the number, it asks for you to enter your debit/credit card number
