Got a call from 888-318-8988 telling me my computer was infected. The 3rd call in 3 weeks. An east indian accent telling me his name was SAM and he was calling from California. Argued with me when I questioned him - he stated he was with Microsoft and they got a report about my computer. Told me to download from a web site and they could fix it for me. BUT once they get in your computer they take all the information (financial, personal, etc) and use your information for their own purposes. A TOTAL SCAM - DO NOT FALL FOR IT. MICROSOFT DOES NOT CALL PEOPLE TO REPORT THEY HAVE A VIRUS!!!!!

Received call from 888-318-8988. It was announced as from "unknown" caller and they did not leave a message. From the other comments, it appears to be from CARP (originally, Canadian Association of Retired Persons, but now officially known by its acronym) relating to our membership, as we recently received new membership cards and have not activated them. It is a legitimate organization for seniors.

Called this morning and since I don't answer unrecognized numbers, let it go. There was then a voice mail from CARP about my membership, so perhaps the call came from them.

Some anglo sounding male voice says they are happy I'm enjoying my "Carp" membership and my subscription is now overdue. I googled carp its some magazine for old folk. I never subscribed to any such thing.
