Their message says Staples and calling to offer free upgrade to my office for ink, toner, paper with a 10% discount.  They left the number to call as 888.319.7171  However the number that called me and left the message was a 902.869.3100 which according to my research is in or near Sackville, Nova Scotia.

The caller ID said Nova Scotia 902-869-3155, but the callback number she left was this one.
As others have said, it was a person who said they were calling about our staples rewards card with an "upgrade" and "special offers". Red flag #1. They immediately asked if I was the person who did the staples ordering. Red flag #2.
I made sure to say I am NOT the owner of the account, so that they can't say I authorized any changes, etc. She did let a callback number, which is not typical of scammers, so I'm not sure what to think...

I get calls from the Hilton Hotels and when I answer they either hang up or a recording comes on.  They are very annoying, PLUS they are calling me at work.  I called Hilton last week and told them to stop calling me otherwise I will call the BBB, I just got another call this morning.

I was told it is their call center.

STOP CALLING AND HARASSING ME!!!

We also received a message from this number and looked it up.  It is Staples and we have an account, but the caller did not leave her name or company name!

What's even better is if they would just call once, leave a message, and stop calling after that. If we want their stuff, we call back. If we don't, we won't. How simple is this compared to endless calls that never leave a message?

Some of you are complaining about them NOT LEAVING A MESSAGE?   And if they did leave a message, would complain about how they shouldn't call and leave a message because if you needed something, you would have called THEM in the first place?   They are commissioned and I do think can be persistent with their calls (perhaps too much so, as with most commissioned people).  But I have to say that NOT leaving a message for a non-essential call is just fine - definitely better than me having to listen to something on my voice mail that is non-essential.

I got a call today from someone who claimed to be my Staples Rewards account manager, which seemed weird to me because to be honest I rarely shop at Staples - I made a large purchase a few years ago when I was initially setting up my home office (desk, chair, etc) but I don't have many office supply needs.  I think I signed up for rewards at the time, but to my knowledge I've never received any Rewards information or benefits, and had since forgotten about the program.  She seemed perplexed because there was activity on my Staples Rewards account, $12 here, $30 there, etc.  That certainly wasn't me - I don't know the last time I shopped at Staples, sorry. Except for my phone number, she had completely wrong contact information, so I gave her updated information (no credit card, just email and home addresses) and she said the Rewards checks would come to me now, but I have just found this very confusing and thought I should report it.  The number she gave wasn't exactly this but a similar 866-319-8181.

If indeed the caller is a Staples Rep. and expects to be my "personnal" rep. or assign one to my company then, as others have stated, leaving a message on the answering machine should not be a problem for them.  That is truly the courteous thing to do.  When they don't leave a message, that is when I become very suspicious as to the real necessity to be calling us in the first place.  I view it as totally unimportant, a wrong number, a telemarketer, etc.  Doesn't anyone out there understand that answering machines are in place for an honest reason, such as allowing us to return their "important" call?  After all, when they dialed our number it was important enough at that moment to dial.  Geez people, everyone in business has some sort of a calling system that either directs you to the person or deparatment you need or at the very least a message machine to take messages so we can return your calls.  Wake up people!

Our business has an account with Staples, too. It's odd that they didn't leave us a message so we could know what they called about. It must not have  been important. I saw the number listed in my call registry and decided to look it up here, as I had not seen the number before. A simple message would have been courteous.

This is Staples, as stated.  Usually it is for people who have a preferred customer account with Staples and it is part of that benefit program to have a personalized rep for your needs.  My rep Michelle is great, and will alert me to when I have unsed coupons, or special deals I may be interested in.  Very helpful.

As others have said, this caller is a Rep. from Staples.  At least in my case, this is not unsolicited.  I am a loyal business customer and the rep that calls me (same one every time) is very polite.
