I got a voice message, basically the exact same message that Jai got. But here's the suspicious thing: when I checked, the call never showed up in my cell phone's call log, only in the voice mail, which means the call was generated from a computer, not a person. Sprint normally either calls or sends me a text alert when my bill is due. I called Sprint usuing the customer service number I have for them ( 888- 211- 4727) and, lo and behold, the representative said that the message I received was generated from Sprint. Do not give them any personal information if you get a call from the abouve number. It is a scam.

They did not take any payment/financial info and said to call the main Sprint customer service line or go online to make your payment for your arrangement.

This is a legitimate call from Sprint collections. Not a SPAM call. I received a call (512) 686-1975 and they left a message to call the 888#. I called them back and made a payment arrangement and they were very pleasant to work with. If you are behind on a payment, it is better to call them and make an arrangement than have your phone shut off. When calling, the prompt will tell you (a.) press 1 to make a payment or (b.) to place the call on hold to gather your payment information. After a couple of times, they said to press 3 for more options and then you press 0 to speck with a collections agent. They did not ask for personal info just the phone number and your pin# to verify your identity. If you don't call them or make a payment within 48hrs they will shut your service down and you will have to pay a reconnection fee.

got a call from this number, they left a vm, said they were from sprint, but it came through a local area code and number. Message said there was a service alert on my sprint account.  I called sprint directly, my account is up to date, not past due, and they have no record of an outbound call or text to my number.  Scam , sound like someone is phishing

They called from a VoIP number n told me to call 1 (888) 335-6963. I called sprint instead. They said I don't owe anything till next month and that it's probably a SPAM call!!! I had her make a note on my account about it. Don't pay from any other number than sprint customer service 611!

Received a call from a local area code, stating that a 'Service Alert' was placed on my phone and I needed to call within 24-hours.  I am on paperless billing with Sprint and always receive text reminders when my bill is due, so it cannot be a payment issue (as suggested throughout this thread).

First time in 10 years of Sprint service I have received such a message.  

Left a voicemail saying there was something wrong with my account, even though all bills were paid.

This is NOT legit. The person posting this comment is also a scam artist. Do not call the number back. Once you do, you will receive more and more phone calls from various phone numbers asking for different things. Remember to NEVER give your personal information (including cell phone numbers, acct numbers, etc) to ANYONE. Any legit service such as Sprint will have other ways of contacting you if unable to by phone. Beware for hurried messages, like 'within the next 24 hours' for something that is "a friendly reminder to pay your bill".

I received a call from 509-774-4723 with a voicemail to call Sprint at 888-335-6963 regarding my account.

rcvd call from 860 531 4152 i was directed to call back 888-335-6963 verified that this is not a sprint collection number

Had this message and number called claiming to be Sprint and they were asking for information which Sprint does not do.  I called Sprint through my normal contacts and reported it.

Bogus!! SCAM. I received a message from this number and they said the last four digits of my account were actually incorrect. I thought they dialed the wrong number or I was being charged for someone she's bill, but I spoke to Sprint and I'm current on my bill the very week this scam called to say I had an urgent past due notice on my account. Do not trust it or give them ANY of your person information. Sad and desperate world we live in.

THEY CALLED FROM 8173814468 AND LEFT THE 888335693 NUMBER. BUT THEY USED MY MAIDEN NAME AND REFERENCED A NUMBER I DO NOT OWN, SO THEY ARE NOT LEGIT

They say they are Sprint and that a hold has been placed on my account. I do not hav a Sprint account. Scam.

SCAMMERS!!! NOT SPRINT. I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CALL BACK I GOT A RECORDING. I THEN CONTACTED SPRINT TO VERIFY THE NUMBER 888-335-6963 AS BEING PART  OF THERE FINANCE DEPT AND WAS TOLD NO SUCH NUMBER IS ASSOCIATED WITH SPRINT FINANCE DEPT.  DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL OR FINANCE INFO TO THESE PPL CLAIMING TO BE SPRINT.

This number is not legit!!! Sprint told me to report it to the SCAM department. Do not give this number any information!!!!

I got the call, it sounded fishy from the beginning.  they stated that i have 48 hours to pay my bill or my account would be "Canceled" as in.. Which sounded more serious than a "temporary disconnect due to a past due balance"

I thought... "Canceled?"    

Then i remembered that i just made a payment, and i also had a payment arrangement setup.  its a slick scam.

I just wish i hadn't put my zip in.

This is a phishing scam for your credit card number. They claim it is Sprint and that your account is scheduled for interruption. They take your credit card number and use it fraudulantlly. Do not give them any information. Hang up and call Sprint from your Sprint phone by dialing *3. If you owe money that system will be able to help.

Got a call on cell from this number pretty much like the other comments listed. I have had to change my number recently because I kept getting calls for someone else who didn't pay thier bills, who used to have my old number. Got a new number a couple of weeks ago and it's starting again only with them looking for a different made up name for somebody else this time.  
BTW the do not call list is ineffective as is blocking numbers
If Washington counted all these telemarketers and scammers as job creation our employment rate should be less than 3%

Darwin saves is right!! IT'S A SCAM TO GET UR CREDIT CARD INFO TO RIP U OFF!!! CALL SPRINT FIRST BEFORE U ATTEMPT TO PAY UR BILL , IT'S AN AUTOMATED CALL..IT'S A SCAM, IT HAPPEND TO ME. I CALLED SPRINT AND THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT..SO PLEAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEE DON'T PAY UR BILL TO THIS NUMBER WHEN U CALL IT BACK.

I got a call from a 951 area code this morning telling me there was possible unauthorized use of my Sprint account and that I had to call today or they would consider the charge to my account verified. This number 8883356963 was the number they told me to call.
I instead dialed *2, the Sprint number I am accustomed to calling, and was told by the Sprint CSR that the call was a scam. He asked me if I had given any information to the caller, (no, I didnt even return their call) and he told me that IF there were any charges on my bill that I didn't feel were valid, Sprint would most certainly not charge me.
I have been with Sprint for many years and will never go with another company, I know they always have my back.

they called me  out of the blue, the best thing one can do is file a police report. becose this needs to fix in the state level, they [ virtouso.[  said i dont have a case calling the local police, but i no better. if enuff files are filled the will change laws and regulations, thanks for this post guys,

This number and anything associated with it is pure spam.  DO NOT CALL IT OR ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH ANYONE ON THE OTHER END.  Simply ignore the communication and it will go away.  If you choose to interface with this number, they will continue to call as they know there is a live person on the other end.

I have not had an account with SPRINT since Jan of 11' so its nearly been a year. Got a call today that I needed to contact them right away.  Called the number listed, took about 5 minutes to get past the stupid computer phone that insisted I give it my zip code.. not giving any personal information at this point.  It connected me to their debt collections dept.  This is a customer service reminder for me never to look at anything Sprint again.

I got a call from (my area code) 236-5247 on my cell phone.  When I googled the # it came back listed as a cell phone number in a neighboring city.  The voicemail that was left said it was Sprint and that a service alert was placed on my account.  They left 888-335-6963 as the callback # or I could see the alert online at Sprint.com.  I went to my account online, and yes, my bill is late, but my service is not interrupted at this point and Sprint's phone # is 888-211-4727.  Hmm.... any other time Sprint has called me it came through as the 211 # not as another local cell phone.  Definitely leery about this but I will call Sprint later today.

I have AT&T and haven't paid my bill in 2 months because they seem to think they can charge me 80 dollars more a month than I should have to pay. I refuse to pay any money till they fix the problem, I have been dealing with this for the past 3 months (not counting the 2 I stopped paying them) and am about to go to Verizon and tell them to kiss my white a**.

We DO NOT have Sprint.  We have new home number from TimeWarner and have received Sprint Finance calls for 3 different people.  All are automated with no chance to talk to a human.  

If I ever do decide to switch phone carriers.  This annoyance will be a factor in my decision
