Debt Collector
You may have had a debt from a bank some time ago, like ten years, and the bank was unable to collect so they wrote it off and sold your liability for pennies on the dollar to these collection people.

Now they have an investment in you so the harassment begins. If they can't collect,  let's say the original $100 liability that they bought cost them $1.00, they will offer you a special deal as if from the bank of $50.00 with the threat of going to court if you don't pay. If you pay, they will follow up with collection on the other $50.00.

If you don't pay and just ignore them they will sell it to another collection agency and the process starts over and they will also act as if they represent the bank. To really find out what is happening go back to the bank and ask them if there is an outstanding loan with them. If it was more than a couple of years ago and not a really significant amount it will have been written off. If one really did exist and you offer to pay it off it becomes an accounting nightmare to them. The accounting costs of searching the records and reversing the old entries would be in the hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Now if you decide to talk to the collection guys ask for an original copy of your debt on bank letterhead  to be sent to you using the argument that there are so many scams going on you do not want to get taken and that since they are such an upstanding company they wouldn't be scamming you. If they are able to provide such a document ( which they probably can't ) you have a name from the bank to get in touch with and ask questions.

Now, you are becoming a lot of work to them and they don't like to work. If you are brought to court ( highly unlikely because it costs too much ) your argument is that you have been asking for supporting documentation because after all how can you accept the word of a voice on the phone. Before you get to this point they will have sold your liability to someone else. Even if they collect they will sell it to someone else and reading the comments here it's easy to see it being done.

Don't be intimidated by their lawyers either. Just repeat that you could not, with all due respect, possibly accept the word of someone over the phone so if they could outline their position in writing on their letterhead you would be happy to talk to them. Chances are it's just another scam.

To the person who paid the collection agency. You are stupid and will always be poor.  What you did wasn't honourable but misguided.  You should talk to someone, not a debt consolidator, but a Doctor because you may have adult onset type 2 big f****ng stupid t**t syndrome?  But I'm not a health care practitioner so ... enjoy your KD you made on your hot plate you self righteous dumb c***.
Thanks

I keep getting calls from a CBV collection company about a debt that I supposedly owe the Royal Bank from over 15 years ago.
I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I HAD SETTLED BY DEBT WITH THE ROYAL BANK A LONG TIME AGO WHEN I WAS LIVING IN ANOTHER PROVINCE,,,,HAVE THE PAPER WORK TO PROVE THIS FACT.
I BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE ESSENTIALLY TRYING TO SCAM ME AS THE INFORMATION THAT THEY HAD ON ME
WAS NOT EVEN CORRECT,,MY ACTUAL NAME, MY ADDRESS, PAST AND PRESENT WERE ALL WRONG UNTIL I CORRECTED THEM
PLEASE HAVE THIS STOPPED IMMEDIATELY OR I WILL TAKE ANY STEPS TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION LEGALLY OR WHATEVER ELSE.

These guys have been calling me ten times a day from various numbers for over 3 years. Instead of telling them not to call I prefer to let them waste their time and money on the thousands (yes thousands) of calls they have made to me over the years. I did talk to them at first as I was genuinely willing to work with them but after repeated lies and scams they were trying to pull I decided to not bother.  Its amusing how stupid they think people are when they lie etc. DONT ANSWER they cant do anything to you at all and if your account has been given to them paying it off WONT make your credit better in any way. I am now back on my feet making an $87000 per year salary and could easily pay these scum bags back but the fact that they broke the law many times and lied many times  makes me vow to never give them a penny. I can live easily without credit now that I'm making good money and dont plan o buy a house for many years and by then my credit will be clean so I win they lose hahahahahahahahahaha
Keep it up.
Keep it up.

If you have unpaid debts and a collection egancy is calling you, it is probably too late to fix your credit rating
giving those blood suckers your money wont fix your bad credit as they have no power to fix it
either way you will have bad credit for about 6 years.

It's not helpful to pay collections so I don't...and I never answer the phone. My credit is terrible but it doesn't really seem to effect my life very much. I still don't get why my credit score is important. I've managed to get around it at every turn.

These insentitive morons call me quite regularly and when I tell them my name and that I ammindeed the person they asked to speak with, they always ask mw for some personal information. I explain that I never provide any information out over the phone. They mention they are representing RBC.

I have been retired for the past 9 years and bank at a different financial facility. Yes, I did have an account there some 12 years ago. I to;d this idiot to get a real job and do something constructive. When they quit these harassing call, I will miss the games that they play and the lies, phony ID numbers and stories they give you. Do they think I am stupid?

If they call you and ask you for more personal information...ask them for information.....that really gets them going to the point thay must terminate the call....Yes, getting too much fun out of these jerks. PDC is their name.

btw, if they're not calling for you then feel free to go ahead and call them back and blast them. Over the years I've learned that creditors often record any (or most) phone calls that come in or out of their office. I've also learned that they have a 'confidentiality' law/agreement where they can't disclose any info for the person they're calling for. So, if they're calling for 'you' and 'you' are not the person they're calling for then when they ask for YOUR name DO NOT give it out, just say it's 'confidential.'

Also write down the name of the person you spoke to and the exact day and time of when you spoke to this person. If an employee tells you 'we'll delete your number right now' they usually don't. When I spoke to Jason Templeton he told me that even if they delete your number they still have your address on file. So if they do some sort of 'cross reference,' even though your number has been deleted, if the address' "match up" then the phone calls start all over again. So, even though the 1st guy said they'll delete the number, when I spoke to the 2nd guy he said if address' match up or something then the phone calls start all over again, this is why you must speak to a supervisor.

So:

1. If they're not calling for you go ahead call them back and blast them.
2. If they're not calling for you don't disclose your own name.
3. If possible record your own phone call for further proof.
4. Ask to speak to a manager to MAKE SURE the phone calls stop. Get this person to make sure your info is deleted.
5. Again, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. If the phone calls start up again then you have a record or who you talked to, when you talked to them, what they were phoning for, etc. A 'boss' always has another boss, if the 'supervisor' you spoke to gets all b*tchy on you then phone back the next day and ask to talk to HIS boss.

I've also been getting calls from this number for a long time. I called them back around 2:45 or so, asked them who they were calling for and it turns out they're calling for someone that doesn't even live here and hasn't lived here for at least 7 years. I haven't even seen this person in at least 5 years.

I asked for "the boss" to make sure for certain that my info get deleted from their records and I spoke to some prick named Jason Templeton. He tried to get all b*tchy about everything, tried to get my name and my personal info but I just told him the person they're calling for doesn't live here and I'm not giving out any of my personal info. Then he asked all b*tch-like why the guys name pops up under my address and I told him that's what I was trying to figure out too.

Long story short I finally got my info deleted but that little b*tch I spoke too certainly sounded like a c*nt. I wish the guy above me actually COULD go shove his foot up their @$$.
