I had a call from this number and they hung up right after I answered.

I have receieved numerous from 888-339-9270. I would like to know who is trying to call me and why ?

During one of these calls from 888-339-9270, I managed to get the caller to talk a bit. This person told me that he represented the Fraternal Order of Policeman. I found it interesting that when I answered, they asked for my wife. When my wife answered, they asked for me.

I Googled the number while I had the individual on the phone and read to him some of the comments that had been posted regarding their calls. I gave him this URL as well as a couple others.

Called and hung up when I answered. I called back, and it just rang, and rang...

This number calls several times a day, And when we answer they hang up on us.

We continually receive this call 3-4 times a day. It is very annoying, especially since we are on the do not call list.

Called and asked for husband by name, I said I googled their number.  We are on National DNC list.  Guess I have to go back to Privacy Manager.  Very frustrating.  THEY are on my DNA (Do Not Answer) List.

I think they want money for the EMTs or the police or the highway patrol or the seat belts or the keep kids off drugs or those gad damn cheerleaders that crashed the airplane.

Some man keeps calling my elderly mother's number in SD and asks for me and then hangs up.

I, too, am getting these calls. Read your message and am on the phone to FTC. Thanks for the number. Oh, yeah....I like the whistle idea!

Unwelcomed call with no one on the line.  We are on do not call list.

They call every night at the same time. Needs to stop

Here it is August 2010..appears this has been going on for some time now..I've received over 20 calls from this number in the past week. I am also on the DNC list. Has anyone ever come up with info on this number?

I get calls from  888-339-9270, almost every evening, and several times in Saturdays, and Sundays. Usually there is no-one on the other end. When there is a response, they ask for a name that doesn't live here, or they ask for my wife, by name, and when I ask what the call concernes, they hang up. This is getting really old, and all it has accomplished is stopping me from donating to ANYBODY THAT CALLS ME OR MY FAMILY!!

Here are two numbers that called us for a while.  (612) 366-8658 and (888)339-9270..they are connected with each other.  I spoke with the guy from the (612) area code and I caught him in his lies.  It's key to ask for a copy of their financial reports before you would donate. They are partly connected with the Fraternal Order of Police and like agencies.  You may also want to let them know you're reporting them for fraud, waste and abuse...and theft!!  Automated phone calls are often not legal either.  Call the Federal Trade Comm. at 1(888) 382-1222, your local police department and also report them to the Postal Inspectors if you sent any money via USPS. The people calling you are hired by the Law Enforcement Union and  these guys are often based in Florida. They all say different things to chat you up (addressing you as though they know you by name, or thanking you for a past donation that you may or may not have given) but basically they'll say it's for various "law and narcotic enforcement agencies" .  They are likely hired by the Fraternal Order of the Police (Union Folks) and  practice this terrible concept of obtaining unlawful donations by bully-harassment, hoping people will give. Don't give in and do REPORT them.  That will work if everyone does their part to make these people stop!!

Same guy calls for a variety of different law enforcement causes. When I told him I was disabled he wanted a smaller donation. I tried to be polite and decline only to be hung up on. Very aggressive and very rude. What will it take to be left alone?

The calls were a bother but not for long.  Called the Federal Trade Commission and they are on this already.  If you need the number it's 1 (888) 382-1222.  They also have a web site.  The fines are hefty so that's a good thing for the losers making the calls.  We heard it's a scam to get people to pay for the call id reverse look-ups and that's what they hope you will do.  Let the big guys take care of it and call the FTC.  Oh, we got a great ref. whistle too.....it's ear piercing so we have no need to say hello, we'll just blow a nice hole in their ear  : )

I too have had frequent calls from this number, of which a man calls asks for someone that doesnt live here and hangs up promptly.  Does anyone have any information on what this may be about?

this people call everyday and as soon as I say Hello they hang up!! its really annoying!

These people are very annoying-----too bad they can't find something worthwhile to do if they have all the time to bug people.!!!!!!!

I get repeated calls (even on Sundays) from 888-339-9270. It is completely annoying.  On our voice mail they leave a message stating my first name and then they say "this is Debbie, if you are there pick up....this is Debbie, if you are there pick up."  I have tried to call back to inquire who is calling and give them a piece of my mind, but the phone just rings.  This is a harassment and it should not be allowed to continue.

Calling several times on a Sunday.  They hang up when I answer.  I suspect that is an automatic dial/computer generated call, which I believe is illegal now.  

It may be a FOP fund raising call. I get an unbelievable number of those calls, police, sheriffs, law enforcement unions, etc.  Many different numbers, all the same fund raising company out of Michigan.

this person just called me an hung up...they sound kinda creepy. some people need to find hobbies!
