The exact same thing that happened to "Thank you" happened to me today Mar 9/11 and they put my first name in the text.  First, no job texts you about calling some random number so that was my first clue.  Second, the text was sent 730 this morning so I also found that suspicious.  Third, the text said "call me" and never left a name as to who I'm supposed to be calling.  But they are getting better at being more specific about what job you applied for because they mentioned the tutoring job I did apply for on Craigslist.  The first thing I did was put the number they sent the text from into a google search and I found this posting site.  Be careful out there and verify anything that doesn't seem "right" to you!!!

Today is January 26, 2011 and I received the same text that the rest of you received from the above number. The person told me to call back 888-907-0619. The first red flag for me was why send a text and not call and leave me a message. I've never had a future employer send me a text to call them back?!? Anyway, I am in Las Vegas and responded to a Craigslist ad. Thanks for the info.

That is definitely a scam. The caller is from (404) 295-1676.  The caller left a message telling the applicant to call 888-345-1452.   They will have two ways to deceive people:

1) email you a fake website, telling you to do online free background check -> purpose is getting your SSN

2) leave message on your cell, telling you to call 888-345-1452 -> purpose is getting your SSN

The AD usually disguise them as law firms, plumbing companies, office at city hall etc. In the AD, they will offer a pay rate much higher than normal. It is usually their trick of getting people's information!!!

Yeah, this seems to be a common Craigslist post and all I did was send in a resume.  NEVER GIVE OUT A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!!!!!!  If it IS on an application that you filled out, you would NOT have to give it to them a second time.  It DOES NOT make sense.  IDENTITY THEFT!

Well that pretty much seems to sum it up for me.  You applied for work in Colorado, I applied for work in Spokane, WA and we both received the same text from the same number for the same job.  Yep fishy! I wish now that never called him.  I never did get the email I was told that I would.  I wish I would have looked into it more.  There are a lot of scammers out there...let this be a head's up to the rest of you:) Take care and happy job hunting.

Received the exact same text messages as the rest of you today(12/22).  However, the text came from a call phone with the number of 801-386-6793 which is in Utah somewhere.  I applied to an administrative assistant job on Craigslist here in Denver, Colorado.  Sender just asked me to call at the 888 number.  Not sure what to think.  So much fraud and scams out there.  You would think that they would email or give a name of the company of the name of the person you are to call back as well.   Seems a little fishy

Well, I never submitted an application, and never put my SSN on any application on the internet.  I did however, send my Resume out, to several job postings.  I applied for jobs only on craigslist this week, and in the Spokane, WA area.  How about the rest of you??

I received the same instructions as you guys did. But it may not be a scam because the times that we all posted our comments are very close. It could be really that there is a open position and they are trying to interview. All the comments were posted today, meaning today might be the date that the interviewing process beings. Plus, most of the applications filled on require a SSN, it doesn't make sense to ask for out names and addresses even though they have a SSN. Therefore, it's probably not a scam.

Well that could be the case here too....after telling him what my education level was, he asked if I was planning on furthering my education.  I said "no, not at this time".  I have not received the email as I was told I would, which leads me to believe you may be on to something:) Thanks for the heads up.

You have to post when you get this e-mail so that the mystery will be close to being solved!  My husband answered a call like this before and in the end they were trying to get him to go to school (after finding out his education level- no college).

I received the same message 5 minutes ago.  The town on the caller ID is not a town I would have applied for a job in.  This is leading me to think scam.

Admin Assistant was the job applied for.  I have applied for several job via the internet so I asked the guy on the line what job it was for, he said that he would send me an email with that information.  He said that he didnt have specific info on the job b/c his company is hired to do the verification process of the applicant.  He asked to verify the following:
email address
zipcode
education level
over the age of 18
phone number
Then told me to wait for his email with a link to finish the application process.
Anyone know anything about this???
