All of these fake people saying this number is legit most likely work for the scammers. I received a call a while back like this and fell for their trap, they claimed they were gonna send me a new card but shortly after I called PNC and they confirmed it was a scam. I just got the same call today so I was already aware of it...

I called PNC customer service dept. got the number off the back of my card.
I gave them this 888-347-7806 number and they said it is NOT one of their fraud dept numbers.

It's a legit call. I just call the number on the back of my PNC credit card. The representative said that according to their records, my credit card had just been closed by their fraud protection department. I will receive a new card within 7-10 business days.

The same thing happened to me but they refused to tell me anything about the unauthorized transaction??? I think I have a right to know if someone got my card number and tried to buy a vacation for $3,000.

This is legit from PNC Bank.  I didn't call it though.. I just called PNC Bank's main number and told them I got an alert with this number.  They said they were trying to get in contact with me.. So if you're still worried just call the main number like I did.

Yup, this is 100% legit.  I called 888-PNC-Bank and they confirmed that 888-347-7806 is their Fraud Prevention group & they did prevent fraudulent activity on my card!

I was suspicious about this number, so I ended up calling the number on the back of my card instead. Turns out it was legit, and the fraud department really was trying to contact me.

I'm not sure why so many people are adamant that this is a scam, but if you're really not sure, just call the number on the back of your card. Better safe than sorry.

This is legit. I got an email and a phone call asking me to call this number and was told that my card was compromised and they needed to issue a new one. Immediately after speaking to the man at that number, I called the number on my card and PNC confirmed that it was a legitimate situation.

This is a scam.  They claimed to be from PNC and started asking me too many questions.  I didn't give them the information.  I called PNC back the next day (at a number I know is legit) and PNC confirmed it was a scam.

in fact it seems you are the one scamming other people. Similar posts from other names saying "shill" etc. You are absolutley incorrect. Looks like you went through each one and did this. I wonder who is the crook here. you or these guys? Maybe you are just severely misinformed.

make the customer service person actually check it. don't just rely on their initial reply because they will get so many phishing response calls they will assume it is unless they know better. (customer service reps aren't always they best trained/most knowledgable)

I'm tired of the incorrect information on this phone number. It's legit.

The problem is there are scams very similar to this. But this phone number is the legitimate one. This is what crooks prey on. This phone number is legitimate as long as you are calling it you have nothing to worry about. Now if they have that number on the caller ID don't necessarily assume it is good. Because caller ID's can be spoofed or faked. But a call to the number cannot be misdirected by crooks unless they have direct access to your phone line. In which case you have bigger problems and they have no need to hope you give them info.

simply false. I would like this poster to come back and post that they did indeed have their card shut off and new one arrived because the fraud department sent them one. 269-544 prefix and 269-973 prefix is the fraud department (also called card loss prevention) for PNC bank.

none of the links you have are related to this phone number.

Crooks could be spoofing the number that shows up on the caller ID. But they can't fake the number if you call it directly. 8883477806 is legit.

I just checked this number with the same concerns as everyone else on here. The trigger was 2 store purchases at nearly the same time in 2 differents states. It threw up a red flag and PNC's Fraud Dept contacted me. This is totally legit. My C.C. card was deactivated and they're sending me a new one.

I just got off the phone with PNC Bank and they said this was a SCAM.  I received an automated call from 269-544-7920/PNC Bank and they left a message for me to call back at 888-347-7806 because there has been some activity on my card that looks like it is fraudulent.  I varified my whole card number and they said this was going to de-activated immediately and a new card would be sent out to me.  As soon as I hung up the phone, I thought this isn't right and sure enough the real PNC Bank varified it is a SCAM.  The real PNC Banks number is 888-762-2265, if you have any questions.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:
