In august this year , I entered my self into a situation that seems to have no solution so far  . I subscribed to  Moviequiz Trivia online , not noticing at the time that I will be charged 9.9$/month to  receive their quiz contest . When I subscribed I did sent them the confirmation code that validate  my cellphone number as an owner , and this way my number got into their database . In the same day I realised that I will be charged the 9.9$/month and because I can not afford this , I went back and read in their message  that I can unsubscribe  at anytime sending to 8883532801 the message "STOP" to end . I keep sending the message"STOP"  to this number  in the past two months  to cancel my subscription with them and the future unwanted bills , and until now I RESOLVED NOTHING -> I'm still billed and still receive their messages . My carrier is Verizon please help anyone !!!  Their mesages come from 404-00 as a text message .

US Cellular has the same scam, I had been paying 16 months on line where I couldn't find an itemized account info. Opened paper invoice, (I had been shredding them) found 5 charges from third party totaling$43.95/mo. I had agreement for free incoming voice, text, and pics. When I called US Cellular they agreed to block any other third party billing but could only credit 2 mos.billing and I should contact third party for more credit. I paid US Cellular, received overdue e-mails when I paid only Contract price $39.99/mo. Have spent two hours going up the complaint customer service ladder. This is illegal or should be. Still trying to get reimbursed $$763.39 overpayment. The last straw today received payment overdue e-mail when I had paid them $141.00 Tuesday.

I have been billed twice by "traffic support" on my Verizon bill. The first time Verizon credited me the $9.99 for the call (I had 4 different charges from 4 different companies) and gave me info on how to cancel any of these services I never signed up for in the first place. Then I got my next Verizon bill and there are the same 4 charges, so called Verizon. Was told they could only credit me once but gave me the phone numbers for each of these services. I called them, 3 are sending me a check, but the 4th (traffic support) hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor when the person I talked to (who would not give me his name) said they WOULD NOT give me my money back. I called back, spoke to another guy (also would not give me a name) asked to speak to supervisor, said he didn't have one, I said that was BS, everyone has a supervisor, he then said if he had one they still would not reimburse me and he hung up. I googled the phone number 888-353-2801 and found this page with nothing but complaints from people with the same problem. I am 70 years old, on fixed income, do not sign up for stuff like this, this is fraud!

I recently recieved over $400 on my cell phone bill from "premium text messages" un my 12yr old daughters account. The majority of the places i had to call did offer a refund for the last 30 day billing cycle to be mailed to my home in the form of a check.  This company 2 way traffic is the ONLY company that refused to give me a refund and when asked for a manager the response was "we don't have one on site tonight".  Then i asked for the corporate address to file a complaint and they refused to give me an address for their company.  They target kids who are suppose to get their "parents permission" and of course do not. I contacted Verizon and was told the the same that since it's a Third party company they can not refund or credit my account but did have a block put on the phone to cease all "premium text messaging".  Word to the wise...NEVER put your cell phone number on any internet sites.

Ditto on above complaints,  billed 3 months 9.99 by "Two Way Traffic" "Game On?" Premium Messaging, Verizon could only reverse one month and refer us to the 1-888-353-2801. Verizon has the ability to block, but not sure what is being blocked. Vendor claims  merchandise was delivered, and will not refund. Scam, SCAM, SCAM!  Verizon takes no responsibility to prevent this scam. Cell phone companies should not get away with this. A service or product must be verified before a charge can be authorized. No one here ordered the service.
Scam, beware of extra charges. This may be a standard for all industry during the economic down turn, and these fictitious charges may be managed by insiders in the industry, employees and former employees of cell phone companies.

Charged 9.99 dollars to my phone bill on texting, unaware I had even signed up for anything w/ them.  They swear I sent some pin code to them.  I dont do this!!!   Then I was told when I called for refund to my Verizon acct. they have no way of doing it.  Plus he would not give me an address to write or file a complaint.  He sd it happened thru internet site and something I had to enter phone number in.  ERRRRR.  I feel like this is a violation.  I am outraged.

I called Verizon this morning about some premium usage on my cell phone. Was told I had not used any but was being charge by one of three different company's but Verizon doesn't know which one it is. Verizon said they have to pay the company so I have to pay them. If they don't know which one it is how are they paying them? Anyone know how I can get this charge taken off? Verizon is no help at all. Thanks

Insist that your phone company reverse the charge.  I told my CSR on the phone to keep passing me up the line until he found someone who would reverse the charge.  He went ahead and gave me a credit for $9.99.  You have to insist and not let up.  Eventually, the phone companies will get tired of losing money to these scam artists and find a way to block them permanently.

I received two charges on my 12yr olds bill, she stated she replied stop and did not subscribe to anything (she knows better)...one from (62131)  800-235-7105...the lady there was polite and helpful, she said they will mail me out a reimbursement check....I will call back if I don't receive it in 14days. The other was from (77877) 888-353-2801....the dude told me the charge was for some IQ quiz my daughter had to take online and to obtain the results you must enter this code they sent to her phone, he said she entered the code on the internet and when she entered the code it specified there will be a subscription to game on for $9.99/mth I don't believe it stated that at all. But then he told me I must call my cell company cause they don't have the authority to issue refunds so I asked for a supervisor, of course he never transfered me to one. So I took his name, the company name, and the company they represent and I will be filing a complaint with the State's Attorney. However I did call my cell company (the first time I called I was told I must get the refund from the third party and they couldn't reverse the third party charge) but today the gentleman I spoke with at US Cellular refunded the $9.99 charge....I don't understand why they wouldn't just do that in the first place. I believe there should be a LAW established stating the cell companys MUST give you the option to opt out of third party billing up front rather than waiting until you're charged. To those that have not been reimbursed yet I say be persistent with your cell company!!!!! Threatening to cancel your sevices always helps :-)

I CALLED THE NUMBER 888-353-2801 (TWOWAY TRAFFIC ALERTS) AND SPOKE TO HENRY. HE ADVISED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH MY GRANDSON WHO IS A MINOR UNKNOWINGLY SUBSCRIBED TO THE SERVICES, THAT HE COULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY. I TOLD HIM THAT I DID NOT GIVE PERMISSION AND DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS UNTIL I GOT MY CELL BILL AND CALLED VERIZON AND THEY INFORMED ME WHAT IT WAS. HENRY REFUSED OUTRIGHT TO REFUND MY MONEY, THEREFORE I AM CONTACTING MY STATE ATTORNEY ABOUT THIS SCAM. ACCORDING TO THE LAW, A MINOR CANNOT SIGN OR BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONTRACT UNLESS THEY ARE AGE 18.  SO THIS SCAM COMPANY DID SOMETHING ILLEGAL AND I AM NOT GOING TO LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. VERIZON SAID THEY COULDN'T REFUND ANY CHARGES, THAT I HAD TO GET THE REFUND FROM THE 3RD PARTY, WHICH HAS REFUSED TO DO THAT.  I NOW HAVE A BLOCK ON MY CELL PHONE TO PREVENT THIS IN THE FUTURE.

ITS CALLED CRAMMING AND ITS ILLEGAL - IF YOUR PHONE PROVIDER WILL NOT HELP -REPORT THEM TO THE FCC ASAP

11.    "Cramming": When monthly charges pop up on your telephone bill for optional services that you never authorized such as voice mail, paging, or club membership, it's called "cramming." You may be asked to return a missed call because it?s 'Your lucky day' and you?ve won a trip to Las Vegas. When the call is made, an automated system is activated and you are unknowingly enrolled in a club or program, and the charge is placed on your phone bill. The crammer might not even need to do anything except simply pick your phone number out of the blue and place charges on your bill through your local telephone company, claiming that you agreed to purchase some services.
Look at your bill closely every month. Charges for optional services should be itemized and show the name of the company providing them and its phone number. If you did not authorize the services, call that number and insist that they be canceled and the charges removed from your bill.

Also, consider putting a third party block on your phone service. It's often free and it does not let any third party add charges to your phone bill.
