These are hackers trying to get your AT&T info. There phone is set up to forward to AT&T when you call it back but when they call you it will say unknown caller on your caller ID. BLOCK THEM! I did

Two calls in succession. First one was a 2 second silent voicemail. Second one left no voicemail.
I see the notes above that this is AT&T. I do not have U-verse service but I've repeatedly gotten phone calls and texts from U-verse for a few years. I think they incorrectly have my phone number attached to someone else's account. I live in NYC, there is no U-verse here. My area code is from NYC. They should figure this out, I've told them a million times.

The only conclusion some of us are jumping to is 'why is AT&T calling at all times of the day and night?...when we don't even have an account or any business with AT&T?'

I received 7 calls from this number in the last 24 hours including 3 from 2:30 to 3:40 AM!! It has been happening on and off for a month now! Most of the time they hang up. When they do speak they always ask for the same person who does not live her and never has. It is supposed to be a UVERSE installation appointment. What a hoax!

they claimed to be AT&T trying to get my passcode then when I said I didnt have it handy they said someone was calling to try and get the passcode from them. They then hung up. I called back and it was automated saying AT&T wanting my passcode yet again but no way to talk to a human. I called the AT&T number I knew and they said it was a person trying to hack my account probably because there was no reason for them to be calling me. The whole thing was bizarre.

Phone rang at 11:04 PM on 5-22-13, and when I saw the toll-free number on the caller ID, I let the answering system pick it up. You could hear that someone was on the other end, and I could faintly hear people talking in the background... the caller said nothing, and after a very long minute or so, hung up. Three minutes later the same number calls again, and again there was that long silence with someone on the other end. I went online to see what I could find out and discovered on this page that it was probably AT&T! I decided to take a chance with the phone number and called it. Yes, I was connected to the same automated AT&T system that you get when you call 1-800-288-2020, the universal AT&T system. So it was AT&T calling me at 11 o'clock at night and not talking and then hanging up. I had waited all day for the AT&T repair tech to come fix an outside line problem, and they never showed up. So far I've spent about three grueling hours on the phone with them, wasted a whole day waiting, and the line still hasn't been fixed. Then they subject you to creepy horror-movie phone calls late at night. At least there was no heavy breathing. And the tech support person I connected with when I called that number was sympathetic, although he wouldn't even speculate about why they would be calling people at 11 o'clock at night. I told him to please specifically use the words "CREEPY" and "FRIGHTENING" in the complaint he was writing, and he said that he would.
