could also be debt collections from health services... had my daughter dec.'09 and paid everything off, so i thought, and then got a bill 8 months later for her radiology that the insurance didn't cover - they were saying that it was like their 4th attempt to contact me which was bogus, but went back through all her bills (my copies and the insurance) and found that they had NOT in fact been paid. this was for a radiology service in TX, don't know if it differs in different parts of the country or just who chooses to use their collection services.

Yes this is correct by account was debited this a.m. and now I remember, I gave authorization to this debt company on behalf of Comcast to debited my account $100.00 every month until my $500.00 account is paid in full. and a $6.50 service fee. I feel better now reading 800 notes, very helpful.

CMI is a debt collection company.  They are located in Texas.  Many of the cable companies use this service.  The number you can reach them on 1-800-377-7789.  They will tell you the company collecting the debt and that there is a $6.50 fee charged to your account for a service fee.

One of the companies that uses this service is the cable company.  You may contact them and they gladly give you all the information as to the company and the charges.

This number 888-376-4184 is to CMI they are a debt collection agency the number they can be reached on is 1-800-377-7789.  The $6.50 charge is the fee they charge your account monthly for collecting a debt.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!  Got to read this!!  My sister who doesn't have internet is paying off her Time Warner cable bill by automatic withdraw from her checking ac't and found a $6.50 charge.  Thanks to your site I clicked on Steph's CMI info and went to their site.  It's a collection company for all sorts of debts and the $6.50 is a convience fee IF you pay online.  There are several #'s to call to straighten out your bill.  Good luck everyone!

Just got charged $35.00 from CMI at 888-376-4184.  The other number starts with 4info 972-862- but leaves off the last four digits.

is a debt collector called Credit Management (www.thecmigroup.com) You probably authorized a payment, and they split the actual payment and a 2nd charge for their collection fee.  That's what they did on my account.

Hi  - jbsdms - in fact Wells Fargo credited me back the 67.27 + 6.50 AND the overdraft fees incurred. I would recommed filing the claim with your bank

I was charged 6.50 and 245.94 this morning - waiting for my bank to open to file a claim.

Did anything ever turn up regarding the fraud claim through the bank?  I was charged 51.04 from 888-376-4184 CMI as well (2/25/10).  I have no idea who this could be and no record of actually purchasing anything for that amount around that date.  I am filing a fraud claim as well.
