Just got a call from them today threatening summons and court actionon supposed debt from 2001 (it is not 2012-13) They told me they were going after my assets (dont have any right now sorry)  and that I owe over 4000 for a credit card that I never had.  THey also called my mother who I havent lived with in 20 years looking for me.  I called them back so mad saying I was recording call and reporting them to Fair Credit Practice.  She was very rude and then said I wouldnt be called again and hung up on me.  These people are such scammers.  First off in California there is a stature of limitations on legal action (lie #1)  they can harass you forver but can only take legal action for limited years.  Also I never had a cc with dollar amounts this high back then (lie #2) thirdly they dont even show up on my credit report

Rest easy about your worries, Im white and born in America and your story was EXACTLY the same as mine. CS Processing, immediate legal action, no info about the case. Everything. I feel better about MY call because I know your story! Im 95% certian now that its a scavenger debt collector and I dont have to worry about anything. I also monitor my credit and they tried to repost the debt on my report, but its been pending since July 1, 2012 and its 8/21/2012... they cant even get the debt to post to my credit report, thats how much of a scam they are.

These people have been calling me for about three years several times a day.  I have never answered the calls.  They are calling for my adult son who I presume has a bad debt from many years ago that they are trying to collect.  My son has not lived with us since 19 years ago. They have several "scripts" and a man voice and a woman voice call me daily, usually about 15 minutes apart.  They change their script periodically and it lasts about three months or so until they change it.  Sometimes it is for a tax relief special rate which must be done prior to a specific date.  After that date there is a different message. Sometimes it is pre-legal, and other times it is a discount and other times it is date specific.  I know the scripts by heart and laugh every time a call comes in. My husband laughs as I say what they are saying word by word when the calls come in. One thing I can say is that they are persistent! And desperate too, I guess.  Sometimes they call at 8:30 in the morning and other times at 7:30 at night.  If they ever quit calling I won't know what to do as these calls have become an expected part of my life.

they left me the same message, i called back and they threaten to garnish my wage and take me to court if i dont pay up! i must admit, they had me scared.  but because the amount i had to pay them back was so high. i told them there is no way i can afford that.. she tried to do monthlty paymnt plans of $120 and even that, i told her that is too much.  Well, we ended the call with me paying NOTHING and she said i will be served with court orders and my wages will be garnish.  now i must admit, i was really bothered by the thought of that. but after reading everyone's msg, a big relief has been applied to me! lol.. thanks everyone for your input with this company!

I got a call from 631-755-5542 but they tell you to call 888-380-3516. They are looking for an ex brother-in-law from two husbands ago! LOL why they r calling me for I have no idea but I'm not going to bother to call back. They called several times.  I remember getting calls way back as far as 5 years ago looking him ex-brother-in-law and I ignored them back then!  Yes, it's a scam because my gut tells me so and I'm not stupid enough to call them back no matter what threat they make. I feel sorry for people they can intimidate. I'll laugh in their face if I ever talk to them. :D

Received two phone calls with same message for my sister-in-law requesting she call back 888-380-3516 automated voice message stating "case is scheduled for immediate release" When I called, an Eric answered the phone but didn't state the company name. I had to ask. He said it was CS Processing. I asked for more details but he said it was a legal firm. He had my sister-in-law's full name and birthday. He stated I was called because I was listed as a primary contact on a prior application. He wouldn't tell me what the case was about except it had something to do with San Joaquin County and their was legal action against her. I asked him if she had contacted the company for help. He said "sort of." I'm highly concerned it's a scam praying on LEGAL immigrants. I tried to google CS Processing but no formal legal company comes up.

This place is a scam. They called my father's house who I haven't lived with in over twenty years and said she was from the county I lived in and I had an outstanding debt and I was going to be served if I didn't contact them. Her name was Sarah Levey and the first time she called from 888-416-4980 and the next time was from 888-380-3516. If you are really worried call the company that they say you owe and ask questions and explain what is going on. I also say file police reports for harrasment and have the family member who is being called file one too. Either way what this place is doing is unlawful. They say pay this amount and we will take it off your credit report too. It's all lies. They use threats and scare tactics to make you pay without asking too many questions. Take the time to ask questions and think about if what they are threatening is logical. Like six hours to call back or the cops will be knocking on your door....very unlikely. Don't be bullied.

Yep I got several calls from this number.  But I got different messages.  All of them for my mother.  One message did say they were Credit Smart.  And others just give a case number and say to call before some legal action or something. Then one says they can help clear the debt or something.  I knew it was something with these people calling and harassing my phone.  I always look up strange numbers though.

I have been getting calls from this number for months now. They never have a live person call, it is an automated voice with a case # and a "pre-legal" matter, of which I know is false because they have to first notify you in writing. When I called the number back they say an operator name but refused to give me a company name when I asked. they went on to say they could not legally give me that unless I gave them my case number or name. To which I replied that was bogus because they left me a voice mail on my cell phone that does not say whose cell phone they are calling, so right there they broke the law. To which their response was to hang up on me.

I got a similar phone call and they had my last 4 digits of my SSN and my DOB, but did not even have a greeting / company name when they answered the line which was my first indication it was probably not legit. I highly recommend filing a police report.

The guy even went so far as to tell me to run my credit...when I did (and send the $39), the item was not on there!! He was saying I opened a bank account in my new county in the past 2 years and closed the account and owed $1600+ which was not the case. I moved to the county just shy of 2 years ago and have had the same account for the past 6 years.

Please file a police report...these people are probably scamming on older people and individuals that are not savvy enough to research it online. Not to mention they are accessing very personal, confidential information from somwehere.

Just got this call for my sister who never used my number as a reference for anything. Called back and they were very vague with information, barely gave me the business name CS Processing before I hung up... I being a big sister, did some research and turns out she never had this account in question.

Sounds like a BIG SCAM to me!!!

Got a call from phone number 631-247-9920 yesterday, a woman said she wanted to speak with me. When she would not tell me who was calling, I said I was not home (pretending to be a "roommate".) She asked when I would be home. I pressed to see who was calling and what it was regarding. She almost told me, but stopped herself by saying she could not talk to me unless I was a husband.

Got another call from the same number tonight, it went to voicemail, left this 888 number and gave me a case number similar to the stories above. A few quick search and this number showed up as a scam. Ah, the power of Google...

Just this evening, my [senior-aged] parents received an automated phone message for me providing a "case number" that is "scheduled for immediate release". My siblings and I have not lived with our parents in over 20 years. I do believe we have went a round or two with these "people" last year.

One must simply respond with, "PROVE that I have or had an 'account' with you. Where is my SIGNATURE on ANY document PROVING I opened an account? Do you have MY signature on file? Do you have original documents with my signature on ANY agreement? If so, MAIL it to me! We need to SEE it!"  That quiets them every time. There must be PROOF that a debt is owed before anyone can "take you to court". AND it must be proven that YOU are actually the holder of such alleged debt.

Per Lola's post, the statute of limitations is an excellent suggestion as well. In our state, it is seven years. Step4, it is not surprising that Bank of America may be part of this. After all, did we not "bail them out" a few years back with OUR tax money? (Doh! Did I say that?)

I do believe Federal Law also prohibits collectors from calling third parties and pumping them for information on a family or friend's alleged debt. At any rate, your particular State Laws should offer more answers as to consumer rights.

Protection of identity is paramount in this internet age where every individual's private information is for sale. Do what you can. You are wise to question. Take care everyone.

I received a strange phone call from a number with area code 631. They left me a message stating they had important information. They left a different phonne number to call with a case number. I call just asking where I was calling but they just couldn't give me brief information unless I would gave them my info. I've never received a call like this. According to previous posted this is a scam. It sure smells like something like that. Be careful people. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE. If you do have debt agencies are trying to collect they should first try contact you by writing .

These a holes called my dad's house and said they needed to get in touch with me. I haven't lived with my father in 20 years. They told me they were a collection agency called Credit Smart and that I owed $2,000 on an old checking account. I had no clue what they were talking about. I asked for proof and they told me they were going to take me to court & I'd get my proof then. I immediately called my old bank & they had no record that I owed them any money. Which, I knew was the case anyway. I called the collection agency back and, again, they threatened me and then "Monica Reyes" hung up on me when I told them I didn't care if it went to court. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION!!

Interesting.  I think they're scammers.  They claim I owe a credit card debt in a name I've not had since 1991, yet the debt began in 1999?  NOT!  They couldn't give me any information either, not even an account number.  Beware!  Do not believe anything they say.  Don't let them scare you into "arrangements" to pay, which they offered me.   Also, check the statute of limitations on credit card debt for your state.

These people called my mother at work and told her that I needed to call within 48 hours to stop legal action over an old credit card bill. So I called, they gave me a whole story about how I was to pay such amount before 4pm tonight or the police would be at my door in the morning to serve me court papers. I couldn't find any info about Assoc. Group. After paying the amount owed (like a gulibale idiot) I never recieved the confirmation email that was promised...I truly hope it is not a scam, but my head is leaning towards it being one. Beware of these people. I spoke to Louis Lipman.
