My entire family, even my poor neice, recieved a call from "Kyle Evans" today.  They failed to call me personally though.  SO, I called them.  The man told me that I was being sued for fraud on a payday loan that was aquired online.  Not only that I was being sued, but an officer would be at my house within 24 hours if I didn't pay.  I just went through a similar thing over the same supposed debt last fall, different company name, different guy, same story.  Results from the previous threats in the fall were...NOTHING.  I was told a case number today, so called the court.  They knew nothing of this case, and informed and reassured me that I COULD NOT be arrested for these charges as it is a civil matter.  WORST case is I would hear from a lawyer.  I called the 8554636030 number back to find out the company name, since he didn't tell me that.  He REFUSED to give it to me, proceeded to threaten me with my "case" again and told me I would get what was coming to me.  WTF?  How can I find out who these people are and respond appropriately?  They contacted my Mom, Sister, Brother, Father, Niece...EVERYONE in my family, BUT ME!!!  I'm so annoyed and agitated...

"True crook" would have been a better name. What's the matter, a little sensitive to the authorities expecting you to obey the law of the land you seem so jingoistically enthusiastic about?

If you don't like "True crook" try "True hypocrite". Look in the mirror if you want to understand the root cause of problems in the country being polluted by your mere presence.

Don't neglect your responsibilities do as this person suggested and confirm with the original creditor that the account has been sold to this company. A lot of people will find any reason to get out of paying what they owe that's one of the reasons why companies charge high interests rates because of people who DON"T TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I was also called by these people and when i called in they had my account # from a credit card i had over a year ago and it worried my at first and i hung up and called HSBC who i had the card with and they sold my account to this agency, i was more than willing to pay them now that i got taxes back but they told me that i couldnt because my account was sold to this company WPST and gave me the same phone # that i had already called and when i called them back they offered me a settlement that was even lower than what i know i owed to take care of the debt, they were able to knock off all the insane charges that HSBC tried to add on to this account when it was closed and i got a fair deal. My advice to you is to call your original creditor and track who has this account  and if this is the Company that now own's it then your best bet is to try to get the lowest settlement you can get. And as for your personal information, they had my SS# and addresses date of birth, mothers address everything they needed including where i was working and i didnt need to tell them any of it, when i didnt want to give my SS# to them not knowing who they were the were actually able to read the last 4 of it correct and that made me hesitant and wanted to call HSBC to find out what was  going on and who these people really were.

Received a call from a blocked number that left a message stating that they're serving me legal papers.  I was immediately suspicious as they did not leave an organization name, personal name or anything of the sort.  They asked that I call this number with the case number (which they also left on my vmail). I looked up the number on the internet and found all of this information.  However, to be safe (and ensure I wasn't actually getting served legal papers), I blocked my number and called the number back.  A guy answered the phone with a basic "hello" and asked for the case number so i gave it to him and he said we need you to confirm that the last four digits of your social is 0538 (which is no where close to my social). I told him he needed to provide me context and what this was about before I confirmed anything and so he transferred me. A woman answered with some generic department name and she asked me to verify my birthdate and last four of my social, and I told her that I needed more context and she informed me multiple times that they could not do that because they needed to actually verify that it was me. In turn, I told her that I had seen this all over the internet as a scam and I was unable to confirm anything at that point in time.

BEWARE.... Do NOT give these people any personal information!

I have also received phone call from 1-888-382-6708.
They have left messages on my daughters phone and they also called my ex-mom inlaw yesterday ( ex now for 7 years). They first thought I was a guy and she informed them I am female. But they told her they had a summons for me and to call this number 1-888-382-6708 with a KL case number. I have never given my ex inlaws number out to anyone for emergency number or otherwise. I am not and will not call them back. I told her if they call back tell them to quit calling. I have no clue what this is about, but if it true and a real summons I would receive it directly from a sheriffs deputy. I do believe this is a scam. The phone number is a Skype number, it is not a landline telephone number. Beware there are all types of scams out there. If they need me and know me so much, they would have my address.

This seems as thought it is a second call from this company, but using a different phone number.  My first call was from a "Kyle Evans" who is a "Process Server" from the "Process Verification Department" and that this voicemail required my immediate attention to discuss the "legal action pending against [me]". The number they provided was 888-240-1765 and a "case number" (attached is a link to the 800notes.com reports on that number, if removed, simply google the phone number: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-240-1765).  Since "Mr. Evans" didn't bother to get my name right, I was immediately susupicious.  However, I did some digging.  The 800notes.com had many people scared and then many people cried scam.

Fast forward 2 weeks later.  Now I get a message from another generically named "Lisa Clark" who is also a Process server from this number, 888-382-6708 that you are now reading about.  Same line.  Process server, pending action, etc.  Now, the phone number is different.

I can NOT prove this is a scam, however, I have been supoenaed in years passed (I used to work in Human Resources and any time the company had a suit, I would be called in; just so you don't think I'm a criminal :)   and I can tell you that at least in the two counties that I have lived in, a subpoenae is delivered by a department of the local sherrifs office, not by phone.

All I can say is that I am quite leary based on what I have read on the 2 posts here and the numerous posts on the other phone number references in this post.

Good luck.  I would love to hear anyone else's detailed story.

Thanks,
Annoyed!
