I got a call from them...I never called them back because the message didn't indicate who they were and I could not find their number on the web until today.  Thanks for posting this.  A HUGE help.  Glad I didn't call.  I have had multiple issues with people gaining access to my Wachovia account (and I haven't given anyone any info)...Guess that says alot about Wachovia...anyway, I ended up switching banks.  Thanks again.  I will be bookmarking your website under my favorites in case I get a new number I need to check out.

I got a call from them.. a lady said I need your address and name to access your WACHOVIA account.  I said, "Why do you need to access my account" multiple times.. Each time she said "I need to access your account" without giving me a proper explanation.  I said "I dont know who you are. You called me.  If you don't tell me why you need to access my account I won't give you my information."  She said, "OK Sir you can go to your local branch to get your message".

I actually did do some work in Wachovia this morning (adding an outside bank account).  This may very well be a legitamite call, but the way they are going about it is STUPID.  I don't think weary people would be willing to give their information out to anyone who APPEARS to be calling unsolicitedly.

"You have a very important call, this is not a telemarketing agency please call us back at 888-387-1476" i finally decided to look up the number and found this websaite. Thank you for the information, how did people stop this number from calling?

I am having problems with Wachovia and bank fees posted to my account/s from people or companies I don't even know. I requested they stop any ACH withdrawls from any account which by the way Citizens can and has done so I know they can but they tell me that I have to contact the company's that are attempting withdrawls. I learned my wife took one of these calls not knowing if maybe it was a "bill pay" company confirming info so she gave them, luckily, an account number I don't keep money in but Wachovia refuses to do anything about it except keep adding 35.00 every attempt and telling me if I don't pay it, they will report it to the Chex systems. Great web site. I'll also save it.

Also, if you listen to the message completely it gives you the option to choose number 2 I think if this "is not...your name...". I got this call yesterday and chose that option because they have been calling for over a month now. It doesn't stop them. I just got a call a few minutes ago just before me last posting a few minutes ago.

Are you people that stupid? Wachovia does not STEAL money nor any other random BS exuse you all can think of, Wachovia is a very well and professional bank and if you people would keep up with your accounts and not overdraw it every day and keep up with it you wouldn't owe any money or have fee's on your account. As far as "Bulbous" (cute name BTW) this note goes out to you mainly, the only "thieven bastards" in this situation is you, when you over draw your account and the bank pays for your items because you can't keep enough money in there and spend more than what you have. So either shut of up go somewhere else and waste someone elses time because all banks are the same, its just people like you that will never change.

Every morning my phone rings at exactly 8:00 am. It's like clockwork. I don't even need an alarm anymore thanks to this caller. If it is Wachovia, I am going to be pretty pissed off, considering the fact that we just opened a Wachovia account not more than a month ago and haven't even used it - mainly because we haven't gotten a debit card yet and can't even get online access yet. So, if it is because it's supposedly overdrawn - I'm going to be even more pissed.

Okay. ida slapyou this is for you.  Go ahead and view the Class action suit against wachovia for STEALING MONEY on interest bearing accounts.  Not paying interest to the account holders and wacking them with fees.  It's a big deal, and wachovia is under review.  So shut up and leave your semantics out of it.  Look at you sticking up for the big bank.  You work for them?  Please say yes so we can say a Wachovia employee is committing libel by accusing its customers of "stealing" right here on an open forum.

I can tell u that i live in NJ, i work for this dept of wachovia. its the early overdraft (deposit recovery). they just started a few months ago. its not a scam, its not fraud. its a dept of wachovia that calls customers to help with their balance. we are only provided a certain amount of information about the customers account for their privacy. we have to verify "just the last four digits" of your ss# so that were not giving ur banking information to just anyone. The reason some representatives from corporate wachovia didnt know of the number is because we have a company id number that they would know. i hope that answers a lot of peoples questions.

I was called by this number yesterday and I answered it and the guy on the line said he was from Wachovia and needed to talk to me about my account and asked me to verify the last four numbers of my social, as well as my phone number and address.  I had just left the bank not even 2 hours before recieving this call, so I KNEW my account was NOT in the negative, and I KNEW my card was working ok because I had just used it.  I told told him that I was just in the bank and that my account was fine and if they needed to talk to me, they would have done it then, and asked him what it was about and he just said it was about my account.  I hung up on him and then called the actual Wachovia and they  said they weren't trying to get ahold of me and everything is fine and it was a good thing I didn't give the guy any information. So if they call asking for something and you aren't sure, hang up and call the number that YOU know to be real, that way you know who you are talking to.

I get at least five calls per day from this number. The first time they called, I let it go to voice mail since I didn't recognize the number. When I retrieved the message from my voice mail, I heard a computerized woman's voice saying "This is Wachovia Bank trying to reach Loretta." No last name, no question of whether or not this is the right number, or anything. I've had the same telephone number for eight years and have never had a account at any Wachovia branch. And, my wife's name is not Loretta.

After reading some of the above comments (especially the one from the person purporting to be a Wachovia employee), I find it hard to believe that this is a legitimate call.

I've called the number back several times but only got an answering machine or voice mail system. I've left messages each time I called to no avail. Guess I'll just have to put up with their annoying calls.

this claims to be wachovia bank either overdraft department or deposit recovery. this is a FRAUD. i spoke with a representative at my branch who called them for me and confirmed this. if for some reason your bank called you they would know your account number and You could confirm what they had. do not give your information over the phone.

Karen (above) described exactly what they did when they called me. My account was indeed in the negative (for 11 days due to the fact that I had a yearly subscription renew that I was unaware of, and I rarely use the account so I haven't checked it in months. It's dormant.) Only the person I spoke with demanded payment (after telling me exactly what the amount was, and she was right.) FOUR TIMES, each time I told her that I would be in today to pay it with cash, each time she demanded a credit card or check number from a different account. We went back and forth for several minutes, me telling her I will pay it face to face, and her telling me she could waive the NSF fee and asking for a credit card over and over again. I finally had enough and hung up on her. I bet you anything they get a cut of what they recover. Otherwise I can't imagine why she'd be that insistant that I pay her right then and there when it had only been negative for 11 days. Blood Sucking B*stards. I think it is legit, but I still wouldn't give them s**t. Just go to the branch and pay it.

I am constantly getting calls from this number, and it is a recording asking for George. I've tried calling them back with no luck. It is very annoying to say the least. I really would like to get them to stop calling my cell. With all the scams out there this is freaking me out and has me scared to try and contact these people to get them to STOP calling me!

I honestly think that nobody takes the time to read these messages boards....because its been about 5-6 people that have verified that they have called this number and spoken to a Wachovia rep and had their numbers removed. After getting these calls all times of the day I finally I spoke with Wachovia about a week ago.  That number IS a legitimate number.  First, I called customer service (the number on the website).  They verfied the number and transferred me to another department.  After sitting on hold for what seemed like hours I finally got a representative. I found out its the number to their Overdraft Resolution/Deposit Recovery department. I asked to speak with a supervisor and after waiting for what seemed like some more hours I was connected to one, Karen Basham. I kindly explained to her that nobody at my number has a Wachovia acct and that I would like to have my number removed. She apologized for the inconvience and assured that the number had been taken out and I haven't recieved another call since that day. If you call customer service and have them transfer you to the department you can by pass all that info that the recording ask you for and they will get you on the line with a representative. Once you do get a rep ask to speak with a supervisor. Then just explain that you don't have an acct and that you would like to have your number removed. And if you do have an acct with Wachovia verify with customer service if something is indeed wrong with your acct. Because when I asked the supervisor what the nature of the calls were she stated that Wachovia calls customers in reference to their accts when they overdrawn for a substantial amount of time  So this is not fraud it IS a legit number. I've provided the info for the supervisor below (including email)

I started receiving these calls and indeed my account was overdrawn. An e-music subscription had charged to this account; I thought I had transferred it to another debit card.

The fact that I receive calls when that happens doesn't bother me if I need to take care of a problem like this. The fact that these calls come at 10pm to midnight does bother me alot. There are laws which limit when someone can be called and I believe that the cut-off is 8pm. Midnight calls need to stop. That's plain harassment.
