Debt Collector
Google the name "Diana Mey"!  Wow...wish I had researched this company earlier.  Known as RFA or Global AG!  Rude representative makes remark & attempts to bully you into paying more than you ever owed in the first place.  When I asked for a statement, I was told they don't send statements & rude rep proceeded to tell me how the debt got so high.  They threatened to take my home & my truck for a debt that originally was no more than $500.

Debt Collector
They called me and I called them back...they had all my information, social, where I lived and everything...said they would be serving me with papers but if I wanted to settle this out of court it would cost me $800 instead of 1,300. Then he said if it goes to court that it would go from 1,300 to 2,800...excuse me but court cost is NOT $1,500!! I hope they show up then I will have my nephew to take a pic of the person serving me papers and we'll go to court over this!! Bet they don't show up!

My daughter just got a rude call from this same # and I called it back and they will not give me their company name of anything. The guy Marcus was so rude that I left them know that I will have my attorney call them back and I had to hang up on him because he kept over talking me.

This number was given to call back within 24 hours. Said it was from the Count Clerks office about property. Said if I wanted to know the paticulars to call. Gave a case number. If I didn't call, it would be deemed verified.   I always check the internet whenever I get a call that wants me to call back. This has happened over 10 times in the last year. I found all of them on sites like this. Thanks everyone for putting your stories up so we don't get scamed :) Feell bad for the peiople who don't check out sites like this but I try to send emails to my friends and they forward them on, hoping to save someone.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I received the same call to my cell phone and upon returning the call was threatened with losing my house and car if I didn't pay a past credit card debt for twice the price that was actually due. I did some research and also found this same RFA (which by the way the rudest person I've talked to lately said it stood for Robert Frank Apple the first time he was asked what the RF stood for) had also gotten a credit report on me. I made them fax me a copy of what they were wanting and when I pull up the address it pulls to an apartment building in Tustin CA. ????

some guy called and said he was with "Consumer Services". My called ID just said "Texas". He gave me this phone # and a reference # and said a company has a consumer complaint that they wanted to speak to me about. He wouldn't give me any other info. As far as I'm concerned if someone wants to talk to me, they should call me, not some third party. Sounds like a SCAM to me. I'll just block that # from calling and see if this other company actually calls.
