called my mother in laws house looking for me. when I called them back they asked me what state I lived in. they said that I owed from and they were going to serve me paper today between 6pm and 7pm but no one showed. I asked them to send me papers in the mail but he said they couldn't do that. I had the same problem last fall with them. when I mention that I called the police and fbi  the man got very mad and started yelling at me.

They hit me yesterday, too--for about the 50th time.  There is little doubt in my mind that they are scammers.

Consumer debt in America is *not* a criminal matter and collector claims are not typically sent straight to a judge. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you get neither, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Called looking for individual - not me!  Called my home and my work number!  I called back they said it was an "answering service" and asked for a "file number".  (Earlier when I called before 9 a.m. went to a phone message but couldn't make out name of firm)  The man was very rude, would not let me get a word in which immediately causes one to become angry.  He would interrupt and tell me I was sounding "rediculous" because I was trying to tell them not to call anymore - they have a wrong number -  our phone number and address were not the "point of contact" for the individual they were looking for.  He got very obnoxious and demanded to know if "I knew this individual"....my response continued - do not call or contact our number again.  How rude to call and leave messages like that.   It infuriates me that this company's rep who I don't know is asking me questions about who I know!!!  I don't know who they are or what they are - so why would I want to communicate with them-maybe scammers.  It is frightening that they have information on me, knowing where I work etc.  and I have absolutely done nothing wrong, don't owe anyone anything - have excellent credit - I have never broken any laws -  Invasion of my rights and my privacy.  May file complaint with FTC against 1-888-394-9562.

When the debt collector calls, say this simple phrase and hang up: ?Put the details in writing and send it to me in the mail.?

My mother got a call from this number in regards to papers being served to me.  I don't have any idea who or what this about but they said that I listed my mom as a reference, which is a lie.   I never gave her number out and it's a new phone number.   My mom inquired to see what the papers were about,  and the lady said she did not have any information available to tell her.   Sounds fishy to me.
