I received a call from this number yesterday. They wanted to verify my address so they could send me paperwork and then asked me to hold to speak with someone who would explain said paperwork.  I hung up.  Today my husband got them again but they wouldn't discuss anything with him.

I also received a message on my work voice mail from the phone number 1-888-397-5002. The lady asked me call her back her name is Tiffany. No last name and she didn't even use my last name when leaving a message. I also had to play the message over and over to try and hear the name of the company she was with. All I could make is "Receivable Services." I am mad, not only because of all the post that reports this a scam, but because they are calling my job. I haven't called TIFFANY back and I dont plan to.

Ok, so to follow up on my post... I called the hospital from where the bill was from, they said they sold it to Vion. I called Vion and they sold it to First Financial, I called them. They sold it to DFA. DFA said that they are working with Everest to resolve this debt. I told her that I had spoke with a person by the name of Mike Volter and she said she knew him personally and that the company infact is legit.

So these people have been calling and calling me for several months. My cell rang with a local number so I answered it. I talked to a "Carrie" who had me confirm my name and then she transferred me to a "Mike Volter". They told me I had a medical bill from 2009 for $5901.98 that I needed to resolve or they would send it to collections if it was not already on my credit. The bill that they were referring to I knew that I had not paid. I have been actively cleaning my credit up so I was very worried about anything else going on to it. I am the dumb one and set up a one time settlement to make sure it does not go onto my credit. They did work with me to set it up for a later date and the settlement was $1509.00. Now, I feel like a dummy after reading all of these posts.. I could always cancel my credit card...?

A woman named, Julie, keeps calling my house asking for my daughter-in-law. How they are calling my number is beyond me. My daughter in law owes nothing to anyone. She has no legal issues going on. This Julie woman or a recorded message calls my house several times a day. She said it was not a solicitation, but was a legal matter. I am 81 years old and I am sick of them calling me. I told them she does not live here and has been married to my son for over 20 years. It is a scam, because my daughter-in-law stays informed every 6 months with her credit report. She has NEVER in any of her 20 years put my home number on any peice of paper for anything. If she would put anyone's number, it would be her own Mother's. My daughter-in-law says if they were legitimate, and the issue was legitimate, they would have her current phone number and address. I live in Louisiana and they live in a different state. They have lived there for years and are certainly both responsible and pay their bills. I dont have time to deal with these harassing phone calls because i am caring for my 86 year old husband who has had a stroke. How do I get them to stop calling me?

We are getting these calls again - AT OUR BUSINESS. About a year ago, this idiotic bunch called asking for some woman whose name I never heard of. I don't remember how I did it, but I finally got a hold of someone and told them that the calls needed to stop. They asked what number they had called and I told them that we own a bank for 100 phone numbers for our business and this is something that THEY need to figure out or I'll be calling the phone company and then an attorney. The calls stopped, but now they've started again asking for the same woman. I wish these idiots would go to H*LL in a handbasket.

I keep getting calls on my cell from various local #'s with no message. When I tried to call some of them back (not knowing ahead of time) it rang to a tone like a fax machine. On my home phone they leave several computerized messages asking for a person in my household to contact them at an 888-397-5002 that its urgent and time sensitive.  I believe this to be scam since they don't have proper phone #'s to call back and ask questions. Sorry your not getting any confirmation from me.

Don't give these scammers ANY information.  If they were a legitimate company they would already have it and would have mailed you information about any supposed debt.  It is not your obligation to assist them in their skip tracing efforts.  If you do talk to them again, insist they give you their company name and mailing address so that you can certified-mail them a letter demanding validation of the debt.

Just recieved a call from this number to my cell phone. Said they were trying to confirm my husbands (referred to him by name) address. I asked who they were and they said Everest Group and asked if this was the home number for (husband). I said no it is a cell phone. The guy told me his name was Dave Golden and he just needed to confirm the address, I said unless you tell me what it is in reference to I can't do that.

I've been getting the same calls for a Joanne X.  Very annoying that the only option is to confirm that you are that person but no option to say you are not other than calling the number they give you (only once).

ERS group is the company.

I called and did get through to someone who said they would remove me from the system.  If you are still getting the calls then I would try to call them once again.

I think these people are either debt collectors or scammers. Lady tried to get me to confirm my name and (old) address. I asked her that I wouldn't confirm it and who was asking, and she gave me some spiel about how "third-party legal rights don't allow" it. I asked her if SHE would confirm any information based on the call she was making to me and that must've sent her off-script because she just asked if I could confirm it and that it was very important. I told her that I would never under any circumstances confirm anything to her and to never call me ever again. And then I hung up. We'll see what happens.

I too have been getting a call asking for my mom and to confirm her address. The local number is 201-479-4217 and today after them calling for a week I actually spoke with someone named Mr. Fitzgerald and they wouldn't tell me anymore information. This definitely sounds like a scam since if they wanted to send my mom a legal notice they would know her address! The other number they told me to call back is 888-397-5002

These idiots have been calling my cell every other day from a New Jersey area code and asking me to confirm my home addres... I finally waited on the line long enough for the automated message to say that they are calling on behalf of ERS Group and to call back an 888 number for more info. When I called, it just rang and rang... THIS IS SUCH A SCAM! Don't give them your info!

An automated person called my phone and stated if this is the person we are looking for or if you know the address of the person we are looking for please push 1.  I didn't press anything, I don't know who you are to be asking me for my address.  That's not how it works.  With all the scammers and people who commit fraud.  Then it stated to call the number when I have a chance.  So I called.  I was placed on hold then the phone hung up.  I didn't attempt to call back but I am not giving out my information without them proving to me who they are and what they want.  I can only assume it a debt collector or scammer based on the previous comment posted by "will not be scammed," by the way thank your for your post.

This is an update to the above post:

The e-mail that I mentioned in the above post was sent four days ago, and there have been no reply and no phone calls since.  This only reinforces my suspicion that their communications were scam.  Of note, they changed their voicemail since four days ago.  Now it says "This is the ERS Group... if you are calling pertaining (sic) to a wrong number, state a brief message with the name and number and it will be removed within 24 hours.  If you are returning a call, please provide with (sic) your number as well as your name and the name of the associate that contacted you..." and we will return your call... (or something like that, my patience ran out by the end of the message).  Scam, scam, scam.  Please don't fall for it!

They have been calling me for several weeks.  Every time I called them back I would get a pre-recorded message "thanks for calling ERS... your phone call is very important to us ..." and then it would go to a voicemail of someone named Eric.  Well, finally they called me from a LOCAL number (even though they are an 888 number and are located in NY area, somehow they must be utilizing various local to me numbers (I live in a different state than NY)  to get people to pick up phone).  I spoke to a woman named Trudy who advised me that she is trying to get in touch with my mother.  How she got my phone number is a mystery. In any case, she refused to discuss my mother's account with me unless she gets permission from my Mom.  I conference-called my Mom and my Mom gave verbal permission so that they could discuss her account with me.  Well, they claimed that my Mom did not pay a fairly small amount for medical treatment back in 2009.  They also said that they previously sent communication to my Mom at the address where she has not lived for many many years (also weird).  When I asked that they forward the bill to me, they started pushing me to give them my (or Mom's) debit or credit card so that we can pay for it NOW.  I said, no, first we must see the bill, check with the hospital and insurance company that it has not been paid, and only then will we pay it.  Trudy pushed and pushed, but I was unyielding.  Finally, she got her supervisor on the phone and I politely explained to the supervisor that first I need to see the bill and that once we confirm that they have a legitimate claim, we will be more than happy to pay the bill.  (I guess the bill was sent to Mom's old address and was never forwarded to her).  Well, they took my work e-mail address (I am an attorney), and I received an e-mail from them stating the following: "please cl me when you get this letter" - no letter was attached.  I tried to call back, but again it kept going to their voicemail.  I responded to the e-mail stating that no attachment was attached, and that I tried to call and no one answered, and to please contact me again.  I am still waiting for their response.  I THINK IT IS A SCAM, because they pushed for our debit/credit card numbers, and still have not provided hard proof of the alleged invoice from the medical provider.  They BETTER not send it to collections, because my Mom never saw that bill and now that we in good faith are trying to pay it, they refuse to provide us with any information.  They will be sued if it goes to collections.

They have called my office number several times asking for confirmation of the address for Anna X.  I finally called them back to tell them not to call again. Their company name is ERS Group.  A machine answered and said to hold and the line suddenly went dead.  I Googled their name and one option is that they're a collection agency.
