A man by the Name of Mr. Nathan called, and threaten the secretary in my office with arrest if they didn't tell thm where Iy.y was and they were going to arrest me. They did  not say  why.
. I called  the number ( 855-773-1314)and said I  realized they were a scam. They told me to have a good  day and hung up.

Same call as everyone else. Although they are stating they are from Nevada. Check fraud, criminal charges, they are taking me to court, serving papers to my work, blah blah blah. I smell a scam, on top of all that, they  are claiming this debt is under a ssn that is incorrect. Idiots.

Here we go again with the scam bots!! I just received this voicemail. As someone in a previous post mentioned when she called them back, it was Nichols and Grant "lawfirm". I have already dealt with these scam artists, I reported them to the attorney general. Now they are using this voicemail message service that uses a female voice (Global Connect). Contact your State Attorney General's Office, most offices you can file the complaint online.

I received a call from this number as well. If this was legitimate, they would not contact you prior to serving you.  This is a scam!

I have been going round and round with these fools. I do have a bad debt. After my divorce I had lots of debt. They have been leaving messages that they are going to serve papers for 4 weeks now. My mother works in debt collection for a hospital and she told me that is crud. If they are going to serve you papers the last thing that they want to do is let you know that they are coming. COMPLETE SCAM!!! However they call about 5 times a day and I am going to change my number to stop the calls. I am sick of it!

I also received the same call and have from a couple different numbers before over a period of 2 months. They state they are from Nichols & Grant as everyone else has mentioned and they said that someone was going to be reporting to my work to serve me papers for check fraud. It was for an outstanding debt that I already paid off and I told them this and they wanted proof. I said no, and then I asked if they knew where I worked. He said that the process server knew where I worked (which they don't I have been sued before).

So I told him, fantastic I will be there waiting... and guess what? No one ever showed up. It's a scam, plain and simple. I strongly recommend never giving your information over the phone or settling a debt with a collection agency. In my experience, it is best to go back to the original place the debt is from and try to settle it. If that isn't an option you have the right to request everything via mail and for them to not call you anymore.

Don't let these people get you riled up. They use a couple different types of voice mail messages reporting that they either need you to go over p. 12 of the document they sent you or that they need to confirm your employment location. Just don't call them back. Good luck :)

They cannot "Take you to court" or "Serve you papers" or finally say they will "Sue" you in New York where they are located, FDCPA requires that any credit action only be filed within the state / jurisdiction where the consumer lives :  See Details Below  -  Everyone that has been contacted by them please read below in detail and follow up with a complaint and violation report.!

Debit Collection Company masquerading as a law form or "legal services".  Will use name "XXXSTATE" Legal Services, based on the area code of the number they are calling.  Violation of FDCPA by falsely identifying themselves as attorneys and as having supeona powers.  Company name is NNG Capital, DBA Nicholas & Grant  -  Place of Business is Williamsville NY - No business entity registered under this name, NO law firm of Nichols and Grand even exists within the state of New York.

Be sure to include details of what was said on the call and if they threatened to have you "Summoned" or take  you to "court" in New York, where they are based.  They are violating federal law under 15 U.S.C. § 1692 , specifically Title VIII of the Consumer Credit Protection Act - Misrepresentation or deceit: misrepresenting the debt or using deception to collect the debt, including a debt collector's misrepresentation that he or she is an attorney or law enforcement officer, and Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously: with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.

The Company's name is NNG Capitol, they are based out the state of New York according to James Andichnio -  He claimed they are a Legal Servces Compnay or an Arbitration Services. he refused to give me the physical address of his business or any other information -   then promptly hung up.  The Fax number he listed was 716-932-7656 ..

Advised that it was an automated system making the phone calls and that I was threatning them by demanding an address.  Its collection agency fronting as a law firm failing FDCPA guidelines  -  contact use this form to file a compliant :

The failure to identify themselves as a debit collection company or that the call is in an effort to collect a debit is violation of 15 U.S.C. ?? 1692-1692p.   .. Ask for a physical address and file a lawsuit claiming harrassment and violation of above.  

In Short, this is a call center that is skirting aorund the law and lying to people.    The name of the collection agency is Nichols and Grant, however; when I search the BBB website or list of LLC's for Buffalo NY nothing comes up.    The number to the NY Attorney General's office is (212) 416-8000.

I just got the same call and phoned the number back. Got an answering machine after a very long time. It said that "Anna Smith is not available at this time." I guess they meant Anna Nicole Smith.
I hope I have not opened any doors for whoever is doing this by phoning back.

I started to getting the same calls like you guys. Start with the same female voice mail.. then called back the 8884032059 number, and also their number from the call id which is 8778295564. They stated them selvs as "nicols & grant law firm" Just like every one.  

I asked them "who are you trying to call?" and EACH TIME THEY TELLS ME A DIFFERENT PERSON'S NAME THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GET!!!!"

So confused and I told them that I am starting to get really suspicious and feels like you are trying to scam me.  

Each time this "guy" who answers the call get angry and start to yell and talking really fast and talking to him self. I just let him talk. To day he went on for 3 min. straight and hanged up.

Received a recorded message from a female stating that a descendant or I was to receive a notice at my place of residence or employer if I did not respond. Contacted the number and the person transferred me to another person who transferred me to another person. The male did not provide his name, was completely rude,a nd stated that I had a bank account with some small bank (which I did not). Told him that I will reach out to this bank and he said you do that and hung up. Sounds like someone trying to get you to verify your personal information and they wont give you their address, name of a manager. Sounds extremely illegal.

Yeah I got a call from this number, some female voice on my voice mail I couldn't really understand what she was saying , so I called it back.  Some guy talking about he's Nichols and Grant Law Firm.  I told him wrong number and he was very rude, saying ok have fun in court and hung up on me. I don't even know what state they are talking about, but just moved to this state.

i got a call saying i own money from a debt from 2007.  that after 5 years of non payment they are going to file papers with the state i owed money in as well as federal papers for my job.  thing is i havnt worked in 3 years and i have filed a change of address from the time they clam i owed the money.  no one has contacted me about it until today.  now they clam that if i dont pay them by a certain time tonight i will have to be in court in another state by 8am tomorrow.

yeah they have been calling me everyday telling me that they are going to serve papers to my job and residence.the first time i called back to see what was going on and the guy answered saying Nichols and grant.. i told him someone was calling me from this number he said that i owe some money and if i didnt pay they would serve me papers to go to court....i told him i didnt know what he was talking about i dont owe anyone,he was very rude and told me since i didnt want to handle the matter they would serve me papers in the next couple of hours to go to court. I never did receive any papers and they keep calling everyday.ITs A Collection Agency! if it was any legal matter in your state why would they call you from an 888 number.

Donot respond to these calls. They have been calling me for months. I just completely hit the ignore button and delete any messages left by them. First of all, If they were anything more than a collection agency, they would leave in detailed message there name address an phone number, and a case number. In addition if it was a local legal advisor, wouldn't they call from your state rather and 1888 number./ Don't answer

Someone from this phone number says he is from the Texas State Legal Services. He is threatening to serve papers at my wife's place of employment or residence.  He said that they are going to serve her for possible theft of services and a possible check protest?

They want us to call back to talk to the clients at 888-403-2059.  Who are these people and what do they want?  My wife is MHMR.  She has clinical depression and has been known to try to harm herself.  She came to me in tears and said that she cannot handle these calls.  I have to watch her 24/7 because this is causing her to become highly aggitated and I am afraid that she will end up hurting herself.  What can I do to stop it?

Any information will be appreciated.  INcidently, we are on social security and a small pention.  We make very little money and barely get by.  They are threatening to take her to court.  Neither one of us can work, I am crippled up in my feet, and she is MHMR.  Any suggestions?

I received a call on my cell and work phone from Mr. Powers telling me to call back to the 888-403-2059.  He said he was from Iowa State Legal Service (I live in Iowa) letting me know that I had to appear before a judge for a fraudulent check.  On the other voice mail he said he was from legal services for the State of Iowa- shouldn't he know where he works?  He said it also concerned my parents, and said their names.  I know this is a scam for a bill collector.  It seems like a fake message but wanted some advice.  Thanks!

Recorded female voice talking about a "decedent"  and a complaint, served papers, etc.  They try to use every scary litigious word in the dictionary to get someone to call back.  DON'T DO IT!!!!  Total scam alert.

I called them back. Reached "The Law Firm of Nichols & Grant". He had no idea why "I" was calling them. He asked who called me; I stated that it was an female voice on an automated service and repeated the message that had been left. He said "Oh, ok. Well, the number that you are calling from bounces back to us as 'Samuel Sapappas'. How long have you had this number?" I told him well over a year and that I, being a FEMALE, am obviously not "Samuel Sapappas". He told me that in February 2011 they had received this file and this gentleman had provided this number as a home number. He said that he would remove the number from the file and I shouldn't get any more calls.....then so very RUDELY, just hung up.  1.) I live in an EXTREMELY small town and there is  NO ONE in this town by the name of "Samuel Sapappas"  2.) The number that I have is a CELL number, not a landline or home phone number.  Needless to say, I didn't give him ANY of my information. I didn't give him my name, address or even confirm the number that I was calling from.

I received the exact same call as John described above. I have no legal issues. This has to be a scam.  

If anyone calls the number, please share what you find out. Maybe call from a blocked number and be sure to not provide them any personal information, even your name. Just find out the legal name of thier company and business address (non-PO box).

Received a message from an automated recording stating that my number was listed as contact number for debt that is owed.  Also stated that "I", not really calling my name, was a defendant in a pending lawsuit.  However, plaintiff in the case allows them to give the defendant an opportunity to respond before they are actually forced to serve papers at my residence or place of employment.

Woman's voice from 888-403-2059 left message stating that "due to the nature of the complaint" and "to avoid papers being served at the person's residence or place of employment by the department" that I should call them back. Points to note are: (1) Did not identify themselves (2) Did not state the nature of the matter (3) Did not state who they were trying to reach. (4) Used very vague language to frighten the recipient to call the listed number. ~ It is obvious that this is an out-and-out scam. As a matter of fact I was involved in a legal matter in the past year and so this voicemail message really hooked me for about 2 minutes. Then I started thinking about it. Obviously a certain percentage of population has legal issues so an unscrupulous scammer can call and try to intimidate them into responding. My advice? Don't respond at all!!!
