Random calling about a time share and it is not a scam. I will have what he/she is having.

Let me guess you work for or some how affiliated with this scammer?

Here is my guess.  I have looked myself up in some of the online databases when someone gives a URL on a forum just to see what's in them.  A lot of the time there is an average home value and/or an average household income associated with your address.  Often, they can just put in your name and get that information if they know what town you're in.   I also notice our home value and our income are not usually even close to the number given.   A lot of this information is put together from census data and survey companies, marketers can buy this information.  It is used for redlining, meaning a company will choose areas to advertise to based on income or home value or an online retailer will give different prices or special offers based on your zip code.

Thats the only thing I was not sure about is how they thought we made $60,000 when we don't. If its not a scam we want to go to the meeting but if we have to make over $50,000 then its a waste of our time.
Thoughts???

I assume it is a scam because their company doesn't exist when you search for it.  Also they say they pulled our entry, but never once do they state our name in the message.  Instead they want us to "confirm" the spelling of our name when we call them back.  They are slick, but they are still a scam.

I'm not trying to start anything, or be overly optimistic, but Amy I was just wondering-- how do you *know* it's a scam? I mean, if you haven't called the number, how do you know for sure?

I goggled the number but just found other "800" type sites talking about the situation. I just honestly can't see what the harm would be in calling them back to learn more information...?

yup, just got the exact same call from this number on my cell and they left a VM telling me I won a free 2 person trip to the airport and a free 7days, 8 night cruise with Carnival cruise lines. All I had to do was call them back. (NO WAY I'M CALLING) On the VM They said it was not a time share and no obligation...bla bla. This is a SCAM. I have heard of other people getting these calls and they want LOTS of money from you. I am in Indiana btw. Don't be fooled by these telemarket BS calls, save your money and take a real cruise on carnival, if you go during off peak season it's very affordable. I have been on 5 and one trip was just a little over 400.00...food, stateroom, all kinds of fun included! I hope no one gives into this call because it is a reported scam and you can google the number and find out. :)

Legit?  They are randomly dialing numbers.  This call was just received on our on-call phone at work.  Pretty sure that we didn't sign up for that.

Called back, took all of 2 seconds.  It's not a scam, but a time-share like thing.  It's for a new travel company in Round Rock, TX who is having a grand opening promotion.  They ask you sit through a presentation on travel packages in the hope you'll use them for future vacations.  Have to be 28, married (or proof living together), with combined income >50k

It's amazing so many people took the time to post how they thought it was a scam, but not call back the #800.  We had a wedding last year and signed up for all kinds of crap, so far all of what we have won we weren't able to claim due to moving about.  This is probably where they got our info.

I got a call from these guys (888-406-5510), said the exact same thing...free boarding passes to a carnival cruise, and complimentary gas from galveston.  Likely a scam in note of the above posts

Just got the call today-went to VM. Said I won a 5-day cruise to Cozumel on the Carnival Ecstasy with 100 bucks in gas to get to Galveston because either me or someone in my family entered a contest. No obligation to buy, not a timeshare. It was definitely a recorded voice because the beginning of the clip was cut off. I'm sure it's a scam.
