A guy with a thick Indian accent just called and said he was calling because I was a Windows
customers and they had detected I have a problem. He wanted me to get to my computer, but
I told him I couldn't get up right now because of a bad leg. I said I would like to call him later. He said
he would instead call me later. I asked for information about his company and he said E Solvent
and that if I didn't have the issue corrected, I'd have even more serious problems including a
virus, which could shut down my computer. I told him I have a service company that can detect and
correct any problems I had, but he got persistent and said it was a Microsoft issue that his
company is authorized to fix. Finally, I asked again for a number to get
back to him on and he said 1-888-408-4117 and to ask for VIctor. After googling this 888 number, I
was directed to this page and am glad I was wise enough to just terminate the call. This is
a scam.

Same people just called my mom trying to get her to follow their instructions. She is new to the online world and HAS been having problems, but she was smart enough not to fall for their line without checking it out with other people. Don't fall for their nonsense and warn your older relatives.

I received this call today.  I was sceptical when caller with heavy Indian accent said he knows my computer has a problem because they they could tell from my computer registry keys.  He talked very fast and in a serious urgent matter.  He wanted me to press and hold down the windows key and tell him what displayed on my screen.  He also wanted me to press and hold control and 'r'.  I told him I was not going to do that until I verified who he worked for and his company phone number.  he gave me the number 1-888-408-4117 and company name E Solvent and his name Ricky Parker.  Without giving me an opportunity to hang up and dial the number he launced right back into his urgent script of having me press keys on my computer.  He never said he was with Microsoft.  I was onto him from the very beginning of his sales pitch about his company knowing my computer was having problems.  I just wanted to get more info from him in order to contact my state attorney general "do not call" department.  I did speak with a state investigator and she verified that this is a scam.  The caller tries to obtain control of your computer by having you press keys and type in a command.  Which is what I thought was going to happen if I followed his directions. I am worried that an unsuspecting person will do just that because their call does sound very legit if you are unfamiliar with computers and how they operate.

Received a call from this telephone number at 2:52 p.m. today.
Since I no longer answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, or
at least have a subscriber associated with it, I didn't answer.
I did though, immediately run the number and came up with this site
and several others.
I have received too many of these "scam' calls to be bothered answering anymore.

I got a phone call also on Friday around 4:00 pm from a very heavy indian accent man and asked me if my computer was running slow or sometimes freezes up.  He told me he was from Microsoft and asked me several questions.  I didn't trust this person and played along until he wanted me to let a tech go into my computer and told me there would be a small fee.  I asked what the fee would be and he said maximum would be $47 depending on the problems with my computer.  I told him I didn't have any funds to do this fix right now and would call him back.  He said he could talk to his manager and try to get an adjustment to lower the fee amount.  It just sounded like a scam.

This guy with an India accent keeps calling me. He want me to get on my computer while he is on the phone with me. I ask him why he said I have Window on my computer and I may have a virus. I told him to give his phone number I would check to see if this was legit and would call him back. I haven't heard from him since.

did they call you again? They still seem to be calling and the number seems to be registered to a TCast Communication (along with several other numbers of differing area codes) but I don't know how valid that is.

His name was Toress William, if I understood his Indian accent.  He approached me using a scare tactic that my Windows PC is infected or may have problem right now. Without even validating that he belongs to a legitimate company, he kept urging me to turn on my computer immediately. Of course, not being a dumbass, I refused.

It's too much a co-incidence that my computer was actually infected that same day.  So I am assuming he has backdoor access lowes.com or another legit website that might have been infected with his malware. My scanner found a rootkit laying around in my memory.  By visiting the site, he not only attacked me by loading a malware into my computer (via javascript most likely) but also found my ip address, phone number, name, and probably home address.

For Mr. Toress William from Online PC Care to call me regarding my computer that is infected, means he was directly involved with this process.  Basically, they are a hack & scam virus cleaning company.

Got a call from "Ron Wilson" just before 7 p.m. Pacific time 7/30/10  It's creepy that he knew my phone# and last name as I'm unlisted  Makes me wonder how they are getting people's info--maybe stealing data from Qwest records.... I don't know.  At the end of the call, he gave his contact info as 888-408-4117 ext 10368, but only after we requested it  He spoke English well with a mild Indian accent. Said he was from Microsoft and that our computer was in trouble. He wanted us to go to a website, onlinedc or something like that to fix it. He got very impatient and abrupt when we refused. Thanks for previous posts--confirms our suspicions that this is a major scam.

We recieved a phone call oct 1st from an indian man claiming to work for Online PC Care, he was telling me a great story that there was somethiing wrong with my Windows. And that he got my phone number from Microsoft, becuase they were there primary On-Line support services. He said that when I go online that I am automaticly downloaded with special viruses that attack my operating systems. He said that I am not able to erase it with the normal Virus Scanner, he said that it was only a matter of time before my computer crashed and all my personal information was gone.

I am an Electrical Engineer and I know a great deal about computers and their operating systems. He was trying to convience me that my registry was being infected by a trojan horse ( he said at first that viruses were not attacking my computer ) and other computer viruses. His first lie, so I asked him what exactely is wrong with my computer, and why are you trying to access my computer Via Internet, you can download all my personal information with in a minute, he said that its not possible to steal information over the internet, ( such a lie ) so I decided to put an end to his B..S...t, I told him what I do for a living and that i need his company information, his name, Phone number and company permit. I told him that he was a lier and a scammer and I am reporting him to the FBI, I told him that my answering machine has been recording this entire conversation and even though he is in India, he will be arrested and jailed for robbing truste worthy people. He hung up on me, so called them back and told them they will be arrested! they hung up again..

Be careful they will ask you to run/execute a run command..do not do it...you will be automaticly connect (Via Internet to the scammers) to there server...

Have received several calls from a so-called company called "On Line Computer Care" (the last time - I think an earlier call gave me a different name, but I couldn't understand the person) telling me they have received 'reports' that my computer is 'running slow'.  They don't want to give you their number, and have given me a fictitious number in the past and simply hung up on me when I asked for the number.  They all speak English with an Indian accent with varying degrees of success - one was totally unintelligible.  This has to be a scam.  I don't think they are aware that I was an IS manager before I retired.

Got a second call tonight from this outfit - Ron Wilson (heavy Indian or Pakistani accent) at 888-408-4117 ext. 10368. Wanted me to get on my computer right now, because my operating system is sending out distress signals (not his exact wording, but close). Said they are technical support of windows o.s.. When I asked for company name, he said Online PC Care.  So glad I checked here first. The first time he called, my husband answered and was about to follow their instructions until I stopped him.

I also received a call from them. This guy with a Middle Eastern accent said his name was Alex Cooper and he was calling to help me find out if Windows on my computer had a virus. I told him I couldn't go to my computer at that time and asked for the directions to do it on my own. He stated he couldn't do that but would call me back. I told him I would call him and he gave me this number and his name and said he would call back in two days.

I think they have called before and either hung up when I answered or hung up after hearing my toddler scream for my attention. It's just really annoying.

This person with an indian accent called and told me to hold down the windows key and hold down the letter r at the same time. Then he told me to type the letters "eventsvwr". I did not do it. He said he was calling to find out if I had any "infections" on my computer. I think he meant viruses. I recorded the call while I was talking to him and I hung up.
