Continue to receive calls from this number. When I answer, there is nobody on the line. I do not use At&T and I do not have an account with them.

Good Evening?

I didn't answer but I did call AT&T and they said everything is correct with my account. DO NOT call 888-422-0554. The nice lady at AT&T says this was the fourth call she's had today about this. Sounds like a scam to me

This is a scam.  I reported it to AT&T and they have had complaints recently about the number.  They also said they are also using companies affiliated with AT&T as well.  If you get a call - hang up. Report it to the fraud division of AT&T.

Same as the others - I got a message claiming it was from AT&T.  I logged on to ATT.com and indeed my apartment number wasn't a part of my billing address (but of course, they must know what it is - it's where the phone service has been going for the past two years).  Sometimes picky postmen will return mail without apartment numbers on them, so added the info on the web site.  If this call did come from AT&T they should be ashamed of themselves for imitating fraudulent callers!  The call quality did sound like crap.  The real AT&T should tell customers to call their regular customer service number.  Isn't it 1-800-CALL-ATT?  (the web site says it's 800.288.2020)

Other comments note that they generally already know what they want to confirm.  These people have bank accounts at Citibank ... no, I'm sorry, I meant Chase.  Most of these people are men (or are married to men (or used to be married to men (or used to be men)))  Beware of "cold reading" over the phone.

When I called att/Uverse number they verified all was ok with my info but instead of any concern with possible scam they tried to sell new plans. Now I receive an e-mail with same phone number also saying it is from att & other than "from" & "to" if you click to respond by e-mail instead of wait for their ET hours, this looks legit. Why do these get through on att/uverse when they promise virus, spam, malware protection with their overpriced internet?

This number called me, claimed to be AT&T and said he was concerned about mail that had been sent to me and returned. He refused to give me any other intormation, and said he would call back when "you are calmed down.: I called AT&T and  they deny that this number belongs to their company, and that my account was in order as far as being current on my bill and so forth; in other words there was nothing in my account indicating that they would need to call me, nor do they call people whose mail gets returned.

Total Scam / Phishing Exercise.  When they left the message for me with the same number in Sept 2013, it was supposedly about the cancellation of a Dell Laptop that I never ordered.  Definitely not legitimate, regardless of posts here to the contrary.

IT IS AT&T ONLY if you hear: "(3 tones) Welcome to AT and T."  That is their telephone trademark.  If you do NOT hear the above then it is NOT AT&T.  Simple way to resolve the issue is to use one of your AT&T bills which ALL have the AT&T Customer Service number; call that Customer Service number instead of 888 422 0554.

I had a call from them and it seemed all WRONG!  I told them to re-mail the bill back to me.  A few days later, I had received another call, claiming to be another company (with mail returned to them) asking me to call back at 888 422 0554.  NO Company EVER shares their Phone Numbers!  Thus, this is a Phishing Scam!

Received a voicemail from this number yesterday on my cell, said the same script as mentioned previosuly. I called today and a regular guy answered and gave a muffled AT&T intro. I asked who it was and he asked if it was the "blank" residence. He asked to verify my address, I asked him what he had, he gave me my current address, I said ok and hung up. If they already have my cell number and home address, not much I can do about it.

This telephone message is NOT from AT&T!  IT IS A SCAM!  I called the ACTUAL AT&T number and was advised that once you give the caller the information they are requesting, a charge appears on your REAL AT&T bill.  DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE!  AT&T will  NOT call you to update your mailing address!

This IS a VALID at&t number, when i got a call from them, they were able to tell me the address that my uverse bill was sent to,  come to find out when they installed it, my mailing address got changed to my physical address so it needed to be changed back.  if mail is sent to my street it always gets returned because i don't have a mailbox. SO this is a legitimate number for at&t.  the guy I talked to said that alot of people think it's a scam but they're just trying to do their jobs and verifying the info, if I was unsure he said he would be happy to transfer me to customer service if I felt more comfortable.  Think about it, if you send out mail and write the wrong address on there, it gets returned to you, so why not to at&t?  God some people need to get a life and quit thinking someone is always out to get you!

Received this call on my cell phone today. Not thinking much about it, I went ahead and verified my address, which they had on file. Only after I hung up did I get a weird feeling and found this page. Now I feel like an idiot and I'm worried what the ramifications will be.

Prank Call
I received an email from these people and the sender of the email was from aonuv.all.r.1435767868@email.att-mail.com <aonuv.all.r.1435767868@email.att-mail.com>, which does not look like a valid at&t address so I knew something was off, but saw that it had a call back number at the bottom. The email asked that I call and confirm my address and I noticed the phone number of mine that was linked to the email was a very old one that I had years ago which also was a red flag. So out of curiosity I called the 1888 number that they provided and a man with a deep voice answered the phone and initially said hello this is at&t. I knew it was a scam for sure then because that is not the way professional businesses answer the phone here in America. The man also had an accent. He then said is this __________? (saying my name). I said yes. He said hold on let me give you their number. He then proceeded to give me AT&T's real 800 number. I think he may have updated my name and current phone number on his caller ID so he can do something with it. Wish I would have called annonymously.

this is NOT a legitimate call from AT&T - it is a scam to get your information (either your physical address, email etc) DO not give them any information and call you AT&T rep to report this.

Rec'd the same message about  ATT needing to validate my mailing address; (I've had the same address for 14 years and have rec'd ATT bills w/o delay);  called ATT customer service at 800-228-2020; the rep checked and said my account info was up to date and that there would be no reason for this type of automated call.

I also explained that my caller ID listed ATT as the caller.  The ATT rep checked to see if this was an actual ATT number.  It was not.  She recommended NOT returning the call b/c scammers can use your phone number to make other calls.

Rec'd call from man called "Raymond" asking to confirm our business mailing address. I asked him for his number, he gave me the one mentioned here in this string of posts. Gave him our PO Box. Will keep an eye out though for any unauthorized charges based upon some of the other posts here. Why can't people just go out and make an honest living?

Actually it is legitimate. I have never once received a statement from them because the mail keeps being deemed undeliverable (which has happened to me with other mailings) I tried updating my address once but they already have the correct address. So they call me from this number and email me every month telling me my address is incorrect.

I got the call Friday. It said I had to call within 24 hours. I thought ATT was trying to sell me internet service again or it might be a scam. Since I have lived at the same place for 8 years and have had no billing issues (trust me, they get their money or I get no phone). I am glad I looked it up.
Thanks folks.

This number has called and emailed me intermittantly within the past few months. Within the past 2 days I have received 6 calls, when they finally left a message they stated that they needed to speak with me about an urgent matter regarding my at&t account and to verify my address. (I was moving and had just switched my service to a new location so i thought that was the reason for their call) An extremely rude lady answered directly, called me by name and said she was from "at&t" and needed to verify my address as they had mailed something and it was returned. (About 6 months earlier i received a certified letter from "at&t" and never picked it up) When I asked what this was about she told me "We dont keep that type of information here and you just need to start checking your mail. Were gonna mail it again" She talked over me the whole time i tried to get information and then hung up on me. She already had my address she just needed it confirmed, which I stupidly did thinking it was related to my new account. I called again and spoke with a man who was just as rude, called me by name again and provided the same useless information and also hung up on me. I called the actual at&t number and they verified that the number claiming to be with at&t is not registered with at&t and this is most likely a scam. (SURPRISE)
I now have a pending charge from an at&t store (? theres no way to tell yet) in a city I do not live in that I obviously did not authorize. I am in the process of trying to file a police report and I have cancelled my debit card, but until the charge goes through there isnt anything the police can do (per the police dept). I now need to notify the AT&T and bank fraud dept.
DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THESE PEOPLE, I sure wish I had not
