"Me" is very correct.
They are just calling to vote your proxy so that shareholder meetings can be held. If not enough votes are received shareholder meetings cannot be held. It is best to just vote so that the fund does not have to concentrate so much time and money on getting votes so that money can go back to you as a shareholder!

It's Computershare Fund Services they are calling because you never responded to their proxy card (or email from your broker). Computershare Fund Services is a proxy agent that the American Funds hired for the upcoming shareholder meeting. All they want you to do is vote on your proxy
