Same here, but I think can shed some light. We recently refinanced our home through Wells Fargo. We got a very low rate due to some government program. Since I never use my full name for anything else, when this piece of crap showed up with my legal name on it, I knew it came from one of two source. Either Wells Fargo or the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT! I suspect it was the latter! Do any of you think we can trust the feds anymore?

So those of you who wonder why the government doesn't do anything about it, could it be that the US GOVERNMENT is behind it? Wouldn't be a bit surprised that now that it is legal for the feds to collect info from us by any means available, they are SELLING it.

Remember folks you heard it her first. Reason why these calls don't stop is because the government is behind it.

Received birthday card stating "We've been going crazy trying to contact you!". Called for info. Required to attend 90 minute presentation for two roundtrip airfares within continental US plus free car rental! It's a come-on for Vacation Plan/Time share program. Presentation is in Napa, CA at 580 Gateway Dr. The catch is you pay all taxes and fees before using. Plus other restrictions. See other respondents comments. Travel Provider is 1st Class Travel in Costa Mesa, CA which MAY be legit? Don't want the hassle so will skip presentation. These types of come-on's are common in this industry, so beware.

Didn't get a call. Received the crappy little, printed-by-an-inkjet-printer, birthday greeting with implied, but not promised, free tickets for "a US Airline".

Red flags:

1) Cheap, crappy paper.
2) "We've been going crazy trying to contact you".  Uh, huh.
3) "in celebration of your birthday"--no promotion, no contest.
4) Reminded me of something from "Buffy"...."Gee, could you vague that up for me?"
6) Had an odor about it.

General rule: "If it seems too good to be true..." Well, you all know the rest. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Great work - I just google the phone number nowadays to see how many scammer hits these type of things have already engendered.
FYI - The Happy Birthday wording does NOT say FREE for the airline ticket. It doesn't say "US Airways" -it says a US Airline. Nothing in here says FREE.

They are careful not to do things like that although they do use Thrifty's logo.  So - you should contact Thrifty and ask them why they are helping a clear scammer.  Anyone want to bet if Thrifty knows or cares who rents cars from them?

They should have their merchant credit card account frozen if people are scammed but they fight like heck with the credit card vendors when there are complaints.

I received the very colorful Happy Birthday flyer you all received offering two round trip airfares within the continential us.  SCAM, SCAM, SCAM...how are they obtaining our mailing addresses?  Travel Provider:  1st Class Travel, 125 E. Baker Street, Suite 120, Costa Mesa, CA  92626, but mailed from West Palm Beach, FL.  Also states that if you respond within 48 hours, you will also receive a complimentary 7 day car rental from Thrifty Car Rental. This is akin to telemarketing via mail...how are they getting away with this?

DITTO ON THE WHOLE FAKE BIRTHDAY CARD THING.  SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO SEND FALSE AND/OR MISLEADING INFORMATION VIA THE US MAIL.  WHY DOESN'T US AIRWAYS AND THRIFTY CAR RENTAL SUE THEM ALSO.  THERE ISN'T A "US AIRLINES" BUT THERE IS A "US AIRWAYS" AND THERE IS A "THRIFTY CAR RENTALS".  SEEMS LIKE THEIR COPYRIGHT RIGHTS ARE BEING VIOLATED ALSO.  THERE IS TO MUCH INFORMATION IN THEIR PRESENTATION THAT IS FALSE AND INSERTED SOLELY WITH THE INTENT OF MISLEADING PEOPLE.  OBVIOUSLY LESS CAPABLE INDIVIDUALS ARE BEING CHEATED BY THIS SCAM OR IT WOULD NOT EXIST.
WHO KNOWS HOW TO STOP IT?
PS - I CALLED THE NUMBER - THEY IMMEDIATELY WANTED ALL KINDS OF PERSONAL INFORMATION.  WHEN I SAID I WOULD BE SINGLE - THEY DECLINED ANY FURTHER COMMUNICATIONS SAYING IT WAS FOR COUPLES ONLY!  -  IS THAT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA?

Received by mail a birthday card offer from US Airlines for two RT airlines in US.  Asked to contact 1-888-472-8030.  If responded within 48 hours, 7-day car rental will be free.  There's a reservation number and asked me to contact the above number.  This happened after a t-share presentation at Shell Vacation Club in Napa, CA.  Evidently, my identity was either got sold or captured by some crooks.

I got the same B-Day card, airline tickets,7 day car rental, etc. I believe this about as much as the money that I will get for cashing checks from Nigeria. If these A-wholes (and I mean they are a complete one!) would put their efforts into diseases, or, World Peace, every thing could be fixed in 2-3 weeks. That would be great! Until then I hope your familys are proud of what you do to people. I also hope someone prays on your parents or, Grand parents trust funds that were setup for you. You realy should go out and see how a forest is destroyed to make paper you waste for this xxxx, with any luck a tree will fall on you, (a much better use of a tree if it must be wasted)!

Yesterday (9/16/09) I received a 1st class postcard (with a picture of three very nice balloons on the front -- guess they think I'm an airhead) saying I was "verified" to receive two airfares anywhere in the US.  Gosh I got a reservation number and everything!  In two seconds, I'd already planned a fabulous trip back east.  Well as they say, If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  Guess I'll get back on the turnip truck and stay home.

These scammers are at it again; my DH just got a letter in the mail, saying he'd won 2 continental u.s. roundtrip airfares on US Airlines, and should call 888-472-8030 for details.  It also said if he responded in 48 hrs (from when?? it's a letter!) he'd get a free 7-day car rental from Thrifty.  The company claims to be "1st Class Travel" at "125 E. Baker Street, Suite 120, Costa Mesa CA 92626", but the mailing is from a service in West Palm Beach FL.

If it smells like Spam, it's SPAM.

I received a flyer today congratulating me on my birthday, letting me know I was verified and WILL receive "two round trip airfares on US Airlines within the continental U.S.!

They also indicated I would receive a complimentary 7 day car rental with Thrifty car rental.

Based on what I have read I will not call and would recommend they flyer be discarded.
