I recieved a VM and I actually have the wav file if anyone wants to hear it. They even left me their number 888-494-7491 and asked that I call them back. When I do, they end up saying that they cannot take my call.

I get these calls a couple a times a week (at least it feels that way). Sure my company uses Verizon, but I'm not crazy about it. The bottom line, I don't have a contract with them. I'm on a month to month. This is why I get these calls and liekly the same is true for everyone else that gets these calls. Here's the way the scam works. They lower your rate for a short time but then it will go up, even more than what your paying now. So you'll think that you can kiss them off and find a different provider - Wrong. Your now locked into a contract with them.
So the next time one of these dips call just tell them point blank - you can lower my rate but I'm going to stay on a month to month.

Verizon engages in these deceptive types of practices, often outsourcing to gestapo like marketers. who will say and do anything, with Verizon's blessing. If you object, as we did, once when found one of there local boiler room operations, they get physical. Don't speak even one word when they call as that can be construed as accepting the service. Verizon is nothing more then a Gutter operation.

I just got basically the same call - it sounded too good to be true so I got their number and called Verizon myself. This is for a land line, not a cell phone. The package they were calling about, the "Solutions Bundle" is real and I already have it!! This is a telemarketer not necessarily employed by Verizon and they don't know what package you already have. The rep from Verizon cautioned not to give out information or let people trick you into saying something that you will get charged for later.
I ALWAYS (or try to) get a number to call back. If they won't give a number or start stuttering and don't know what to say - hang up! If it is legit, they will give you a phone number.

Some dude calls and says he is calling "about the Verizon business account" and he **needs** to speak to the person who handles the Verizon bill.
I'd like to talk to you about the things that I need, pal.
I hung up on the dude.

I own a biz in NJ, and they are phone slammers.
They call me once a week. Same exact spiel you describe.
These are scammers, and should be treated as such.
Good job!

I keep getting messages from "TIM" from verizon business about lower rates in my area and he wants to talk to the person responsible for the phone service. Same number, different "names". Three calls in three weeks.

Idiots called again. This time I let them ramble. They indeed sound like they are legitimately calling from Verizon. Guy was able to bring up my current and prior month bill without asking me any questions HOWEVER even through the premise of the call was that they were going to give me better rates this turned out to be a big fat LIE. I don't have internet with Verizon and my long distance is with a different company. Guy said the only savings were in those two areas so there would be no change in the bill.
Thanks for wasting my time, ass-wipe.

Verizon called and went on and on, I said that we let them "streamline" things once and it turned out to be disastrous. They said things were not going to change and they changed in a big, horrible way, we said that we would never let Verizon do anything like that again. This girl said that they were NOT going to "change" things, they were going to "modify" things. I made some variety of bewildered grunt and she reiterated that things were not going to be changed, they were going to be modified. My mind was blown, so I just pressed the off button and started questioning reality.

Verizon is a massive FAIL and these people are too. I always ask them to hold for a few minutes while I find the business owner. I figure every minute I keep them on hold is another minute they're not bugging somebody.

We just got a call from someone saying they were from Verizon wanting to go over the plans they have so they could save us money. Not sure how legitimate they are considering we were in a Verizon store a month ago updating our plans when we purchased new phones. We tried being polite, but they were persistent so we hung up.
We got calls from "Verizon" a year ago and at that time it was the same sales pitch, but they called several times every day for several weeks. We finally had that number blocked. If it starts up with this new number, we'll block it too.
