received the same call yesterday and today at my 89 year old grandfathers house. this is not the first time ive been contacted by scammers. from now on I always search the number for posts. once again this is a scam. the guy couldn't tell me who the creditor was, and I stated I knew I had no reasons for this call because I don't owe anyone. most people serve you by the sheriff office and they have no calls its strictly paper work.

Got a call from Montgomery Babitz on the day of my scheduled serving and he promised to see me at either my residence or workplace later on that day and lo and behold, no Mr. Babitz.  I wish I had his phone number so I could call and say how much I missed his promised visit.

I am so glad that I found all of these posts.  I got a call from this same person, Montgomery Babitz telling me that unless I call this number he will be at my residence or workplace by tomorrow to serve me papers getting my signature of intent to appear in court. I was freaking out thinking this guy is going to show up at my job and embarrass me. What a relief to know Mr. Babitz is a fraud.

Read about the FDCPA and learn your rights as a consumer.  Remember - no one is given a heads up that they'll be served - the court process server just shows up and gives you the papers.  NEVER pay anyone unless they send you via mail (not email or fax) that debt validation letter and documentation proving you owe a debt to them and that they can collect this debt in your state.  Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Their websites will also help you see that these are no-account scammers calling you.

I received the same phone call this afternoon and it was terrifying to me. I don't have the best credit and have pulled myself out of money troubles so it wasn't a far off possibility. I still have a lot of work to do on my credit. So anyhow, I freaked out and am still shaken with the threats of coming to my home or work to serve me papers - nothing about what it's for or what I can do to remedy the situation was ever brought up. Just claim #, threats and their phone # 888-506-3945.
I will be ignoring this call and researching my rights. Thanks for all your help. I'll try and post in a couple weeks to update if anything did in fact happen which I'm guessing and of course HOPING that it won't.

I got a call from this Montogomery Vallance threating me to collect on a debt and to come to my house to serve me a certified letter to appear in court. I didn't act on returning his call because it is a fraud. Nothing happens once that due date comes around too. Anyway, warning to everyone out there, do not send these people money. No your rights. Do some research.

Got the same call on my cell phone.  Called them back after finding the info from this site.  Told them that I am going to report them for running a scam.  (The call came from a private line, the guy left the phone number 888-506-3945 to call back.  Didn't give them a chance to tell me what they were calling about - just laid right into them!

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I was told that I was getting sued by fifth third for overdraft fees and that I was being charged with fraud,& embezzlement and that I had signed and agreed to 300% interest on overdraft fees through fifth third when I opened a checking account. They said all the fees added up to $3000 but that he would accept $500.

Montgomery Valence or something like that called and left a message on the answering machine. Threatened someone, I couldn't make out the name, at our phone number with a claim filed against us and they would come to our home or employer. I dare ya! He left this claim number as well. #318061. SCAMMERS TO THE MAX! BEWARE PEOPLE! The Caller ID showed their number as all zeros.

Got a call today from this person. Said his name was Montgomery Babitz (he even spelled the name for me). Caller ID actually said "private caller" but he left the 888 506-3945 number with me. Said he had papers to serve and was looking for my family member he only had 72 hours to deliver it or my family member would miss their court date and he really didn't want to bother anyone at work or their home .   He said he couldn't open the package to find out who was sending it. Yeah right like he didn't know who "hired" him.  I said companies don't just serve people. They try to contact them and send letters way before it went to court and a deputy sheriff will deliver papers for free. He had no reply to that. I was EXTREMELY skeptical and he knew it! SCAM written all over this.

I too, day after day, received threatening calls about my brother, and needing to find him or else they'd press charges for banking and credit card fraud. Not only are the charges false, he doesn't live with me. Then, when I called them back, they asked I pay them $500 to ensure he doesn't get arrested...and that I'd get that money back once he reported to them and the courts. Ha! I reported this number here:

https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

They've also been calling other members of the family.

i think this also could relate to a violation of the FTC's Fair Dept Collection Act (though there is no debt!)...here's that link:

Threatening to come to my house and employer over a claim to request you to go to court. Calling a defaulted loan a crime and lying to me about being arrested etc. they chose the wrong person to screw with as I know my rights and the law inside and out.
