They called looking for my elderly mother and when I told them I took care of her bills for her they accused ME of taking out a fraudulent loan under her name because my mom has dementia and I have Power of Attorney. They use multiple numbers and claim they are NOT debt collectors but instead an investigation agency. The other number used is 888-512-3291. It is out of Atlanta, GA. Do Not give them money!! Get all the info you can when they call so that they can be reported. This cannot keep happening!

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employees threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. They threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Even if you do owe a debt, do not be deceived by the actions of this group.  Many of the accounts they are attempting to collect they do not own.  In other words, if you pay these people, that is not going to clear your debt with its rightful owner.  

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot) or Atlanta GA (often a parking lot near the bus station). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names

I was contacted by rep from Raffino, Garrison & McCoy stating that they were representing a law firm and that they were investigating 3 cases against me for outstanding payday loans which I have paid off.  I refused to give them information and requested that they provide detailed information regarding the debt(s) in writing and they refused.  I then informed them that I would be contacting the Missouri Attorney General's office to initiate an investigation on them.  The rep become very irritated and hung up on me. It is truly a SCAM!!!

I would also suggest you educate yourself about the FDCPA.  You don't need to worry about these crooks.  They break  many rules with every call.

This company is claiming to be from Racine, Garrison, and McCoy and the investigator is rude and will not give me any information. She is threatening to have me arrested and she is calling my family members and harassing them. I have asked them not to call them and she threatened that she would continue to do so. This is the number 1877-725-5312.

I received a message from this number stating I was a defendant in a case. Did not leave a company name or name of person who was calling.

They called looking for my daughter and now they are looking for my other daughter for bank fraud?  Would not give me info on them, told them to send me info and day 4 and still not received any info.

I received a call today from Ruffino, Garrison & McCoy out of Altanta, GA. They were calling my number because it was listed on my sister in law's case. When I got someone on the phone and questioned her, she hung up on me. I then called back from using my office number. I asked that my cell phone number be removed from their database and she was rude and hung up. I am reporting this number to the AG's office.

We got called with basically the same script as others have mentioned here; threatening legal action and arrest, which is obviously impossible in a civil case like this.  As others have stated it's a clear case of fraud.  Has anyone had any success filing police reports?  It might be best to report to the Atlanta police as well as in the jurisdiction that you received the call in.  I don't know how likely law enforcement is to follow up on it but they might at least be able to subpoena phone records and engage the authorities in the jurisdiction that the calls were placed from.  While the crime can be prosecuted from either jurisdiction, where the calls were made from or received, the fact that the victims are so spread out it would make success more likely if the authorities in the jurisdiction that the calls were placed from were engaged as they can amass a several different charges from different cases and are in the same area where they can find and arrest the perpetrators.  If anyone does succeed in getting law-enforcement engaged to subpoena phone records and establish the location of the perpetrators, please share that information so that others may file reports with the proper authorities in that jurisdiction.

Just so you know -- for them to threaten you with arest is a crime. I would report them to the FCC.

I "committed" check fraud in 2009 through a former bank for a payday loan company that doesn't exist in the regional area. Loan amount was $440.they were going to activate a warrant for my arrest (illegal threats per fcra)
Four "investigators" hung up on me. The first after I began bringing up illegal threats and requesting them to forward the documentation to verify the debt. The last one after I refused to giver her (invest mills) the last 4 of my ssn (claiming they had the 1st 5). I was being argumentative an uncooperative. I'm not an atty but I have attended the 1st year I law school. They didn't like me at all. I'm waiting for the next call and vm.

They are scam artists.  Ignore 'em.  No way any judge is going to issue any kind of warrant on the basis of a civil debt to a debt collector company.   Warrants are only granted in criminal cases and that on the basis of an application by  public prosecutors.   They are spoofing the law firm's name.

Received a call from a lady calling herself Investigator Mcmillian identified themselves as calling on behalf of Alameda county warrant and summons division that there were three cases pending of fraud with warrants attached and we're to contact the claimants at another number in order to resolve the situation and possibly avoid detainment. I researched phone number that the call came from and it's not the county office but a law firm in Atlanta Georgia

this is a scam. do not pay them... anyone who  has paid or wants to report them, please go to the Federal Trade Commission website and file a complaint.   There is already an investigation under way.  DO NOT PAY THEM>..they are making false claims to entice you to pay.  They are conducting an illegal business.

I have been getting a call from these people for about two years off and on. its always the same thing. message is this. I am investigator golburg  with Raffino, Garrison & McCoy and associates. I have two charges on you u need to call me back today or i will send this to the sheriffs department and we have been in contact with your hr department. I dont know about you all but in my experience with bill collectors . if they cant get u over the phone they go on and sue you for the money. thats if they are real. Dont let these people scare you they cant put you in jail over owing money and they have to go through the proper channels to get said money. also as for my knowledge they cant pretend to be an investigator , police officer , and can not tell u that u will go to jail .    

Called a friend of mine that lives in another state stating they were looking for me but referred to me as "defendant"  and then my name.  They provided some phony case number as well.  Also on their website they list their address in Atlanta GA, but have listed a local number (which is a cell phone) of 1 (406) 420-6612.  If they are in GA why is the area code in MT and why is it a cell phone.  Report them to the FTC here - https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0341-file-complaint-ftc.  I also reported them to the FBI as right on their website they claim to be working with the State Department.  "At Raffino, Garrison & McCoy, we are able to utilize online capabilities with the Secretary of State and national credit reporting agencies to access debtor information."  They are a scam!!!!!!!

Received this same information about a payday loan from investigator Denise Cook, she said that I was a fraud gave me information that they would summon me to court and that I would be arrested. She was very rude and disrespectful.  She called my job harassed me several times after telling her that I had paid the loan she still continued to call with threatening to arrest me.  So I looked them up on line and when I mention that she hung up on me.  Now if this was a legitimate firm none of these tactics would be allowed.  This is by far a scam don't fall for it.

I got the same phone call today along with my brother.  Ive been dealing with these scammers for years.  They dont like it when you tell them that they are being recorded and that a police report has been filed.  Good luck everyone on getting them to stop.

This is not a law firm. They are not lawyers, couriers, process servers, or anything else. They are scam artists.

Now, I know we all hate dealing with collections, but we have to. However, this company 100% illegal. Do not disclose your personal information to them for any reason. Follow up with your creditors and collectors and maintain your files to ensure you are paying the correct people.

Called me as well, but did not leave a voice mail this time...I have been dealing with these "so called" debt collectors for 2 years now...my information keeps going from one bogus company to another.  Getting very old and frustrating!!  I have been trying to report, but they keep changing names and phone numbers.

These people called and harassed me saying they were going to arrest me saying that this was an outstanding warrant.  This supposed inspector 127 was saying that she was going to put a warrant out for my arrest when I had this paid off.  Even after I contacted the local sheriffs department and filed a report. This woman would state her name so fast no one could understand it and when we asked for paperwork for this debt and they refused to give this to us and refused to listen.  From what my sheriffs department said they have to give you information and proof and WILL come out to talk to someone before anything is done. This scam artist kept hanging up on me every time we wanted information we called them back 16 times and they get caught and hang up. There story keeps changing saying all of a sudden they don't exist and they do.. Don't believe them file a report with your sheriff or police department ASAP!!!

A lot of these slawyers use godaddy to register their domains.  I've heard lots of really interesting things about how godaddy conducts business (although their Superbowl commercials are epic).  So I wonder if this is a commonality amongst slawyers.

My story is pretty much the same as yours. I had a payday loan, it went to collections with another company and I paid it in full last Sept. I also have a pd in full letter which I was happy to fax them today. Let's see what happens...

I received a call from my father stating that this 'Savanah Grant' said if he wanted his daughter to stay out of jail he better make sure I contact her.  I was supposedly wanted for fraud.  I called right away, stated I had paid my debt over 2 yrs ago..a whole $200.  She said it was never received and now owed $4000...but they would accept $1200 and settle out of court.  I called my bank and retreived the payment info so that when she called back this morning I could prove it.  When she called this morning at 7:15am I stated that I had spoke with the Sherriff's Dept and as soon as I stated that she hung up.   I was sure to call my father back and tell him to hang up on those calls again.  'Savanah Grant's' direct line...678-430-8737.  fyi
