yes you do I thought the same thing I was sadly mistaking but some people need to learn like me.....lol..no really if you know that you took it and never pay it then you should know and as time goes on it doesn't get better its gets worst!!!!!

Scam scam and double scam. They called my phone stating I took out a loan and such when giving the date I was laughing and informed him that I wasn't even in the us at the time.  Luckily I was already at the police station to file a different conplaint and asked the man on the phone if he would like to speak to the nice officer in front of me, well I got hung up on. Pls report this company immediately and don't give them money. IT'S A SCAM

I think this is an attempt to harass me about a bill from 10 years ago.  They threatened criminal charges and jail time.  They also said if I don't get right back to them, I'd be served papers today.  Don't know how legit their threats are because you don't get warnings when you're about to be served.

I just got a call from lydia told me that someone would be out to my house between 4-8pm today to serve me with a summons to court for a case that is being processed in civil court against me. She asked me if I would be available to receive the summons. I told her yes, to have someone delivery it. She then when on to explain to me that she was obligated to give some info on how I could find out who was taking me to court and she gave me this number: 888-53-9738 with a case # and told me to call them to find out what info they could supply to me for the charges. I told her that I have never heard of anyone getting a heads-up on courts paper before they are filed and she told me that it was being done as a courtesy to me. What a bunch of Bull!! I told to them to be sure to bring the papers and i would be waiting..she hung up on me. LOL

Are you sure this is a scam? I received a call from this number this evening and I am really freaked out about it!!!!

I was recently called by this number and was told that I was going to be served papers if I didn't call back. When I called them, they told me my ss number almost right away and I was confused as to what was going on, considering I know I didn't owe anyone any money. I told them I will see the, in court. After getting off the phone I relized that this was a scam by a cole things I caught the man saying, he made me feel like I was a criminal and I'm not.

I recieved a call on Tuesday 6-25 from Ms Jones, saying they were a Liaison form the Department of Legal Services and they had received a fax to issue a supeona for a case against me and left a case number. I called the number back and was transferred to another gentlemen who proceeded to tell me a case has been issued on me for illegal check fraud and a felony for issuing a bad check over state lines??? I asked for what and he said a payday advance from cashnet in 2007, I said 6 years ago? He said law states they have 7-10 years to file a case on these matters. He gave me my bank account info, ssn, my old email address and said they have video surveillance of me taking the cash out. I told him I use to get these loans all the time and I never remembered one that was returned, he was very persuasive and told me that the charges were over 4,000 and that it would be on my permanent record as committing fraud. I started freaking out and he said let me talk to the attorney and ask if you were willing to pay the original amount if they would stop the filing of the papers. Her then came back and said the attorney said if you could pay $515 that would settle the case. Well not thinking clearly and obviously freaking out I gave him my cc info I know that it was dumb now after doing some research. I called my bank and they said this happens all the time and not to be ashamed and they cancelled my card. He told me that if they sent in for the payment and it was returned they would go ahead with the case and I would be a repeat offender and that this call was being recorded and would be used against me in the court case. I will be reporting them to the attorney generals office for illegally trying to collect a debt. If I did owe this I would think I would have heard something about it in the last 6 years.

A lady called me and said I was being served court papers and to call this number 1-888-530-9738 and gave me a case number. They said I was being charged with check fraud and I had to pay 300 to stop it.I gave them my card number today and now putting a hold on my card after reading these , they can send me court papers all they want. I wont be ripped off...This is scary s***. I care for my 2 children and my disabled marine vet husband. What is wrong with these people...

It's a scam - don't pay them anything.  Report the call to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  NO ONE gives a heads up before they serve you with court papers.

This screams "scam".  They are violating the FDCPA by talking to someone else about a debt you allegedly owe.  The law requires them to mail you validation of the debt.  They are trying to scare you by demanding payment in 24-48 hours.  Debt is a civil matter, not criminal.  Read up on the FDCPA and learn your rights to combat this crook.

Received a call from this number today, June 24, 2013 telling my grandmother that I had a case against me and that I had to pay within 24-48 to keep from having a felony charge against me.  It was supposedly for a check from a check cashing place over a certain dollar amount.  Not sure if this is legit?  Hope to file some sort of police report.

I got a call from this number telling me they had a case on  me as well and wanted me to answer questions they would not provide any info as to what was the reason for their call other than a legal case against me no one has my personal number I don't know who these people are nor what they want FRAUD WATCH OUT

did not leave the nature of the call, except for that i had a legal case and they would drop off paperwork to be signed tomorrow

I got called by this number as well and said they were from a company that serves legal papers and I had a case number but the only people that have my number is family

Same here except they claimed to be from the Dept Of Legal Services and had a case number on me for something.

I got this call as well.  Claiming to be "NCA" with a claim number for a case opened against me.
