I sometimes threaten them with a drone attack when they call me and I call 'em back.     Keep 'em on the line for a while, then thank them fore staying on the line,  and tell them the US National Security Agency has monitored the call and their  call center has been located and placed on a drone target list.  

They hang up really fast.

Scam from India or the U.S. (who seems to be allowing the whole nation of India immigrate) using Indians (not American ones). Uses American sounding names and speaks the "Queen's English" in their high clicky accent. DO NOT fall for these idiots. It is a shame we can't send drones to neutralize these companies.

It is Wal-Mart. If you look on the back of a Wal-Mart gift card this is the customer service number to get your balance etc.. it may be legitimate after all.

Usually these numbers change within months, but I see this thread started in 2010!  I got a call 7-11-2013.  Didn't answer.  A few people said the scammers already had some personal info, such as an online Wal-mart purchase.  Sounds to me like someone in an overseas processing center is stealing info to use in their scam.

I had one call me the other day and when that thick accent ask for me I started to pretend like I was crying and said he was one sick sob and why would they ask for somebody who dies last month. He hung up in less then a min with no goodbye or sorry or anything and they never called back

May 21, 2012, I kept getting calls from "unavailable" on my mobile phone.  I finally answered it, knowing it was probably someone trying to scam me.  "Mark Brown" id no. 78950 who had a very heavy Indian accent claimed he was with Wal-Mart, calling from Wal-Mart headquarters and he went through his spiel: my number had been randomly selected and I was to receive a $500 gift card from Wal-Mart with no strings attached.  All they needed was my mailing address and a bank card to charge the one-time $4.95 shipping and handling charge.  He gave me an address and phone number which he claimed was Wal-Mart headquarters and the address was in Bentonville AK (702 SW #83 Bentonville, AK 72716).  After keeping his waiting a few minutes (didn't want to waste my mobile minutes) I declined the offer and requested they take my name off their calling list- ha ha, we'll see if that happens.  I googled the phone number after I got off the phone and found this.  This is a scam, do not ever give out personal info over the phone, ESPECIALLY FINANCIAL INFORMATION LIKE CREDIT CARD NUMBERS!

they were so pressed to get my information and more importantly my voice verification .... the rep called from a private number and then the verification person called from 6613803000

got the call this morning from 2064560661. all i know is nothing is free in America! plus i don't give out my info over the phone. EVER!!

Dang, we thought it was legit too!  Very heavily accented man, Aadrian Gill, said he worked for Wal-Mart  Gift Department.  Said if we pay USPS 3.95, we will receive a $500 gift card and a $200 gas card.  He told us which Wal-Mart we shopped at, and even had information about an on-line purchase we'd made at Wal-Mart.com.  Like the man says, you never get something for nothing.

This number just left a message on my sons prepay cell  number saying they were WASTE MANAGEMENT and there was an urgent problem with his account. Yeah, I'm sure my too young to drive child has an account LOL

I just the call today,  I let him go on on on on on as I logged onto my computer, to check and see if it was a scam, and when he finally requested if I wanted the card I said NO,  he then started to cuss at me HA..

Wow. Am I glad I hung up on this guy. He was obviously from India, representing himself as an employee from headquarters of Walmart. I listened to him, skeptical. He asked for my address, saying I wouldn't have to pay any shipping until I received the free 400 dollar gift card. I started asking him questions, he starts yelling! "Just give me your address"! Click. Crazy.

The first time I saw this number was on the back of an old walmart gift card. At some point, this WAS a legit number for checking your Walmart gift card balance, but when I called it to check my balance I got a "you will soon receive a text message about the number you are calling" and by the time I hung up I got some text saying for 9.95/mo I can subscribe for 20 lookups/mo

Look up what? phone numbers I guess. Pretty elaborate scam though if they are using what was a real walmart number

I as well as everyone else got this call.. The number came up as (425) -998-1533.. I happened to be on my laptop so I traced it to a landline in WA. Same story as everyone else, he asked for my card number to pay for shipping. I said ;) I don't have one with me. He asked if a family member had one I could use. lol! Oh geez. big tip off. I should have said right there, " You're not a very convincing scammer".

I reported it to my local Walmart. Said they would call me if they needed more information.
Not the same number but, Indian accent and same story..

As soon as he said, i need to provide him my card details so that he can charge shipping fee of $1.95 to it, i was dead sure it is a scam. But since i was not doing much back then, so i played along.... and just killed his time. Asked him all kinds of dumb questions under the sun and kept asking by the time he really got pissed off ;)

On a serious note, please be aware of this scam. Nothing comes for free. and if someone is actually willing to give you $400, they wouldn't be asking you for $1.95 shipping fee.

I got that same call on friday and they said tht my card was gunna come and all i gotta do is pay 1.95. my dumb mom gave them a card # and they were supposed to send the card yesterday and i never got it

What let figure out why he is lying is that he asked me to pay $1.95  for shipping a walmart gift card with $400   which is absolutely unlogical ...

southern CA today.  got the call, let him talk. told him I would use a Master Card, when I start the number 1 2 3 4 5  he said Master Card begins with a 5!   I told him I recorded the conversation and he was a scam.

I recieved the same call today with the india accent. At first he didn't mention the payment until I gave him my name and address. Then he told me to give him a card number at that moment I said thank you because I knew it was a scam. He gave me Walmart head quarter office address and his job ID.  But Is there a problem in giving out my name and address? I'm worried..

I managed to keep the idiot on the phone for over 25 minutes--it was like sport fishing; let out a little line, reel them in, let it out, reel them in...
I even got him to transfer me to his supervisor!   I finally said, "Dude, this has been a great time and I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have.  I knew when I answered and I know now that you're a con artist, but at least I kept you from scamming someone else for nearly half an hour and had fun doing it.  I was hoping to make it to 30 minutes but I have work to do, so bye."

I received a phone call today from India 5109969583 (John) very heavy accent; claiming that I had won a 500 dollar gift card to wal-Mart and other electronic stores, it would be in the form of a Visa card. I did give him my info, but after I got off the phone I researched the call a little more and found this post! So I thought that I would let everyone else in on my experience today. Scammers, I did however cancel my card a few hours later, and luckly I was not charged from these people.

Same  call, same thing, same people... gave them my card info and after the call immediately cancelled my card. Thanks to you guys i caught it just in time on this site.  : )

I just received the same call and did not go for it.  These guys from East India are like snakes and they lie cheat and steal.  Don't ever trust a East Indian!!!!!  People are trying to get your credit card information and use it to their benefit, please be careful out here in the world we live in today.!!!!!!!!
