The removal number on the unsolicated fax has the same 'French' accented
female (not from France, however) - recording says I've already been removed! This apparently is untrue. Very frustrating and annoying. The faxes keep coming ...

Unsolicited Fax. Can find no reference to company.

The FCC connected the map guy with the junk faxes.
Here is an excerpt from the FCC filing of November 2010:
1. In this Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture ("NAL"), we find
that The Street Map Company ("Street Map") apparently willfully and
repeatedly violated section 227 of the Communications Act of 1934, as
amended ("Act"), and the Commission's related rules and orders, by
delivering 11 unsolicited advertisements, or "junk faxes," to the
telephone facsimile machines of 11 consumers. Based on the facts and
circumstances surrounding these apparent violations, we find that
Street Map is apparently liable for a forfeiture in the amount of
$55,000.
...and a link to the document itself.
You will find Patrick Keane of "The Street Map Company" in Wilmington, DE listed in the last paragraph.
http://www.fcc.gov/eb/Orders/2010/FCC-10-190A1.html
Through research, I have found him under at least six different business names, a dozen phone numbers, two lawsuits and six websites.

I know I'm getting carried away here, but the FCC report established that our Patrick Keane is the map guy, just like my junk fax, which has made connecting the dots somewhat easier.
This reference was found on Page 4 of a newsletter by a group called Maptrade.org.

OK- Here's what I discovered.
I received a junk fax today, December 27th, 2010, from "Trump Map Co." A line at the bottom reads "CALL (866) 282-8543 to be removed". When I called, I heard the same french/ english voice others complained about.
I dialed *69 on my fax machine and learned the last incoming call was from (302) 543-4136. I called that number only to get a constant busy signal.
Then I did some research with a reverse number service and learned that (302) 543-4136 belongs to:
Patrick Keane
Rockford Map Gallery/ The Laminating Co.
1800 Lovering Avenue
Wilmington, DE 19806-2122
(302) 998-6009
I also learned that Patrick Keane, listed as the contact person of "The Street Map Company" was named in a "NOTICE OF APPARENT LIABILITY FOR FORFEITURE" filed by the FCC on November 9th of 2010. File No.: EB-08-TC-998
Here is a link to the FCC document.
http://www.fcc.gov/eb/Orders/2010/FCC-10-190A1.html
Part of that document reads:
1. In this Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture ("NAL"), we find
that The Street Map Company ("Street Map") apparently willfully and
repeatedly violated section 227 of the Communications Act of 1934, as
amended ("Act"), and the Commission's related rules and orders, by

telephone facsimile machines of 11 consumers. Based on the facts and
circumstances surrounding these apparent violations, we find that

$55,000.

Please help us stop this weasel scum.
Report your solicitation and junk calls to the FCC.
If any of you live in the Wilmington area, go pay a visit to Mr. Keane and post his picture here.

I filed a FCC complaint in 2009 on this company. I followed up today and called the FCC and they said when they get enough complaints they take action and he encouraged me to keep complaining.
I asked him about the out right scam faxes. He wasnt as optomistic about them because they change there numbers very often

Another way to reduce mail and telephone solicitations is to contact the Direct Marketing Association to request that your name be placed on its "do not call," "do not mail" and "do not email" lists.
Association members agree not to solicit consumers who have requested that they not be contacted.
To have your name removed from direct mail marketing lists, write:
Direct Marketing Association, Preference Service Manager, 1120 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036-6700.
To have your name removed from telemarketing lists, write:
Direct Marketing Association, Preference Service Manager, 1120 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036-6700. To "opt out" of receiving unsolicited commercial email, use the DMA's form at www.e-mps.org.

They are braking the law. For what it's worth you can file a complaint online as ftc.gov.
You can also get even by programming your fax machine to fax this junk back to the VOICE number they conveniently provided to you, with max number of retries. This raises the cost of their criminal enterprise and at least begins to give them what they deserve.
| JBeek 2010-01-02 21:23:46 Unknown |
We've gotten a couple of these (for NJ Maps), and as we are a local history collection in a library I considered ordering - but after reading these comments I realize I shouldn't encourage this waste of people's toner.
Anyway - the address and phone number match those on the website for "Nixon paper," which offers (only) rolls of paper for credit card machines. The website seems pretty bogus, too. But here'e the "contact us" link: http://nixonpaper.com/contact/contact.php?departmentid=352
