 We received a call from West Asset Management in Idaho today, 04/03/2013.  The number on our caller id. was 208-758-0220.  We understand that this company is not registered to do business in Idaho.  Idaho is a "Closed Border State".  We do not have any bills, except our home.  It is not late and never has been. This is nothing less than harassment and by all accounts, under Idaho law, illegal.

A voice message was left on my office number to call Cheryl Reed at 888-560-0054 x3250.  When I called the number from my office phone they said in order to assist me they needed my name.  I would not give them my name and said I was returning the call.  They answered the phone West Asset Mgmt.

This is a collections company, West Asset Management Company. They have various phone numbers that show up on caller ID. They asked me to give them my SSN upon calling this number, I certainly would not. They didn't even want to tell me what it was about before I gave out my identifying information. They called me, so they can tell me who they are & what they want first. Turns out I was the wrong person with the same name. Make sure they send you something in writing first because it's the law to get written notice about a debt before collection companies start harassing you.

i received a call at school, and i have no idea how they got that number. they left no information other than i was to call them back. like i'm foolish enough to return a call to someone i've never heard of at a number i've never seen in my life...

First call i ever get in on my new line was these b*****ds.  wanting me to call them about a debt in 1990 well i was under the age of 18 in 1990.  They are scam.  and really bad to they will harass you to no end

West Asset Management is not registered to conduct business in the State of Idaho.  Idaho is a "Closed Border State", and as such, out-of-state businesses (including collection agencies) must be registered with the State of Idaho.

Let me tell you what West Asset Management did to me.   They caused my husband to have a stroke.   They claim they are working on behalf of the government.  When they first called my home, we told them politely not to call again.   They harassed us continually.  My husband was arguing with a jerk by the name of James Stoops on the speaker phone when I walked in. James Stoops called my husband and me all sorts of profane names and threatened to take our home and bank account and garnish the little salary that I make.   I waitress at the local diner and my husband has a hard time finding steady work, now he is disable because of the stroke WAM caused.  After we were done arguing with that jerk James Stoops, my husband suddenly developed a severe headache on the left side of his head.  I called 911 and to make a long story short, the doctor said he suffered a stroke.   No he is disabled.  You would thing that would stop the harassment, but no.  They are threating to take our home.  I am 49 years old and I work as a waitress in a diner, I have partially paralyze husband to take care of and not they are trying to take our home.  West Asset Management unscrupulous harassment and threats is in the name of the government, they say.  Hogwash!  What kind of government does this to their citizens.  I can barely afford to pay for my husbands medicines let alone enter into some type of DEVIL payment agreement with them.   If you get a call from 480-543-1173  DON'T ANSWER IT.

Collection agencies will call surnames quite frequently, and they are legally allowed to. Now, this is very simple; answer your phone, advise the collector (nicely) that you do not know the person they are calling for and to not call you again. From that point on, legally they can not call you again. Skiptracing is very common in this day. Unfortunately, bill collectors have to take harassment from people who do not realize that it is out government who has enabled us to create so much debt. Imagine this....the government passes a law that bill collecting is illegal; consumer debt goes to an all time high; everyone files bankruptcy; we have another enconomical depression; banks go under....you get the gist of it.

In sum, if a bill collector calls your house looking for someone else, be kind and just tell them to stop. If they don't, put your big girl panties on change your number.

NEVER CALL AN UNKNOWN TOLL FREE NUMBER FROM YOUR OWN PHONE, USE A FRIEND'S THAT YOU HATE.  

WEST ASSET MANAGEMENT IS A PROXY COLLECTION AGENCY.  DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION.   THEY HAVE NO LEGAL RIGHT TO HARASS YOU.

this lady calls at 12:00 noon and leaves a message on my machine for a Jennifer Glasscock with an ext 3850 to give her a call back. My husband and I were alarmed at the fact that no one here exists with that name and with all the identity theft going on were concerned that someone was using our number for their benefit. I called the number to find out that they were calling numbers with that same last name as ours trying to find some one after being on the phone several minutes with a guy who didn't know anything about the call. I asked what kind of a business they were about and he told me he wasn't allowed to tell me ......
