Except that this number is for the underwriting department and the number on the back of the card is not so if an underwriter needs to talk to you about your application saying to call the number on the back of a card you don't have yet doesn't help much does it?

This is the number for Chase's credit card underwriting department, people need to stop posting that this is a scam they are causing people to be declined or have their credit taken from other cards by not answering and providing the underwriters the information they need to proceed with granting the requested credit.

I don't think it this number is Chase because I called their main number back, and they said they had no records of anyone calling me. I also went in earlier to ask a question, and the banker and financial adviser both said that leaving a message was a sure indication of fraud. So I guess I'll go back in once I get my card.

Debt Collector
WOW! How about this Ron Lewis jerk just called me asking for someone who does not live in my household and never have. I tried to tell him the person their looking for don't live here and he started telling me bogus lies about he's a process server and he was going to serve the person he's looking for a summons to appear in court and he have some legal documents he needs to get out to her right away. FIRST OF ALL....why will you call someone and tell them you going to serve them, why not just do it moron.  I told him to stop with the scare tatics cause its not working with me but oh no he was presistent. He violated the FDCPA big time. I told him I was going to record the conversation and he will be owing me some money and he hung up quickly. Now that's what you call a shade tree collector. I wonder if people actually falls for the garbage they be saying. He want be calling back!!!! IDIOTS!!

This number is definitely legit.  I applied for a credit card and Chase Bank is the holder of that card.

The number is legit. It is not a scam.  But you never go wrong when you check it first with the chase.

1) This number is an legit.
2) You SHOULD NEVER give personal info before you are 100% sure that the other party is legit.

I had the same story, I told them that I don't wanna give me info for them so they told me to call the chase main number 1-800-955-9900/

I have been getting this caller too. I have been ignoring it until after reading here. I recently applied for a Chase card and I am sure they are trying to reach me to verify it was me who applied. I am a good customer of theirs

I got a phone call yesterday and just called to the contact phone number from Chase.com. I was be able to verify it's a legit and chase representative simply connects me to them.
So my suggestion to everyone is, always call their official number to get things done.

That is exactly what happened to me, too. Two missed calls from them but no voicemail left. I called back just out of curiosity, and if it truly was from Chase bank, it would have said so in the automated introduction like, "Welcome to Chase." It didn't say anything like that but it instead immediately said, "This call may be monitored or recorded." I then hung up because if it was a scam, I didn't want them to have any of my information, even my name. Be careful out there and don't pick up any number you don't recognize and never give out personal information to anyone unless you know it is a trusted source. Good luck!

I received a voice mail from 888-609-7805 and they left a reference number.  I called back and gave them the reference number.  I had applied for a Chase credit card through Southwest Airlines. I had other Chase cards and they wanted to balance the credit line among the cards.  They were courteous and efficient. This is a valid number.  Definitely not a scam.

I called the number and it turned out to be an Amazon.com credit card I had applied for, not knowing it was through Chase Bank. Amazon should disclose that informaiton to avoid this confusion. This number is legitimately Chase Bank.

"Mike" at "Chase Bank" left me a message claiming it was in response to an inquiry I made. He gave me reference number 120102515935. I have never made any inquiry to Chase Bank.

Regardless of whether 888-609-7805 is legit, you should *ONLY* call the number on the back of your card and *NOT* a strange number.

NO YOU ARE NOT SAFE!!! You must *NEVER* give out any info to a stranger who calls you. Your bank has your personal info and will *NEVER* call you for info it already has. You must take immediate action to protect yourself from money and ID theft. Call your bank ASAP, tell them what happened, and ask what you should do.

I declined to provide info too, asked for the number to call, called the # on the back of my Chase Freedom card and asked for "Chase lending services". Turns out this call WAS from them. 888-609-7805 is legit.

I just received a call from this number saying they were from Chase and asking for my employment info.  I went through Chase's web site and called--they had all my info already, so this is a scam.

It is from Chase's lending services department.

Three days ago I applied online for a Southwest Airlines card. In order to open this card, Chase wanted to transfer some limits from my other Chase cards to this card, which I agreed to do.
Now, I better get my $50 bonus for applying for the card!
