I had received 2 phones call on my cell today 2011-08-03 .
I only gave my cell number to 3 friends and my parents and not to companies or strangers) .
I have no student loan from USA firm, I live in a french province of Canada and I finish university 22 years ago!
The only thing I can think of: "This is a computer program who call randomly... "

harrassed to death 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
I, too am being harrassed everyday from 765-283-3020 and 866-493-6512. I am also looking for a job and cannot pay my payments. They said they could put me into forbearance if I pay 2 or 2 payments consecutively. But then it would for 2 months only. How does that help a person with no job. They are eating away at my cell phone min. which is the only phone we have. Lets all send a letter to the states attorney with copies to everyone we can thing of. Hey! (lightbulb)...Lets also start sending them letters everyday bombarding their mail system!

It's Sallie Mae and they will call you day after day after day if your payment goes over 30 days late. After 5 such calls with automated messages left which stated agents had ways "to help" me in making payments. I went against my better judgment and called them back. First they verified it was me and my address followed with your account is past due, how would you like to pay? I told the person that I was calling because I lost my job and was not able to pay.
The agent then tells me how much my account is past due and I said ...ok. She then goes so how do you want to pay that by check or credit card? So again I tell her that I'm unemployed and I cannot make the payment. The agent then asks why not since my payments are so low so I remind her yet again ...no job and no money. She then asks if I'm collecting unemployment and when I say no to that she asks if I have a co-signer and quickly goes yes you do can you get them to pay? I tell her that the co-signer was my Mom who passed away a few years ago. Not missing a beat she follows up asking, well is there someone else who you can get to pay it? Again I say no. She seemed deflated after that and pretty much just said ...ok thanks for calling.
Wow... whole lot of help that was Sallie Mae. I should have just followed my first thought to not bother calling back. They don't care that you've lost your job, don't care that your co-signer has been dead for years (which they'd know by the way since they no longer send mailings to the house my Mom used to live in). No, all they care about is the money and when they're going to get it. I would've expected better from a company that I've made payments to on time for the past 4 years! I would've expected some mention of putting my account into deferment or forbearance but no dice. They could care less about helping anyone but themselves so I'll just go back to not responding to their calls and when I can pay again I will.

Co-signer on daughter's loan who doesn't graduate until 2011. We've informed them of this repeatedly. Provided appropriate documents. Were told we have to pay on the load over the summer when she's not taking classes (!!!) Never heard of such a thing. Deferred should be deferred, but tire of fighting the issue, we paid for the summer months and STILL getting multiple daily phone calls, home, work, cell... Called them and said "We paid! Stop calling!" We are told, "yep, we see here in our records that you paid" ... it takes some time for the payment to show up in the system that generates the phone calls" !!! Funny... it didn't take any time for the automated system to generate the phone calls -- starting the day classes ended in May!
Angela 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
Yes. They call me at least 4 times a day... FROM DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I've explained to them that I have graduated, but the economy is so bad right now I can't find a job. They offer me a forbearance for a $100 fee... and I'm like, "Seriously sir? What kind of sense does that make? I know you don't make the rules, but it's idiotic that you would ask me to pay a $100 fee when I can't afford food OR those $150 loan payments."
OH. And dear goodness... if you want to talk to me, STOP with the automated messages when I pick up the phone. If you want to talk to me, then, dangit, talk to me.

I am the signer of a student loan for my daughter who doesn't graduate until May 2009. In Jan. 2009 I started receiving calls at work, home and on my cell from numbers described on this board. I've spoken with 7 or 8 different people and sent via mail and faxed proof of her graduation date and yet these people are still calling me 3 or 4 times a day every day on each of my numbers. This is plain and simple harrassement. I have sent a letter to my state Attorney General.

Ya my husband has been harrassed constantly and also they've (Sallie Mae) has been taking money out of his bank without his consent. So now were a negative in the whole because of them. This company shouldn't even be allowed to be out there. But yes we constantly get calls from them after 5 months of actually talking to a real person saying we don't have jobs and can't pay what they ask they still harrase him. This shouldn't even be allowed. Also i have some more numbers to add that they use.
765-238-3176
866-517-3063
866-215-1261

Yep. SLM Corporation, aka "Sallie Mae." For those of you who don't know, their CEO Albert L Lord has his own private $30 MILLION golf course in Maryland named Anne Arundel Manor

one question:
will any of these counter-actions actually do anything to help out the loans we need to repay, or the interest that is adding up daily? i'm considering giving them a taste of their own medicine, and calling them 10 times a day asking for help and forbearances and reduced pmt plans etc.
answer to Mooseman 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
Yes, I'd love to.
Brandon 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
I have kept a running tally of this, and as of Thursday, October 9, 2008, I have received at least 30 calls from Sallie Mae since Monday the 6th, and I'm sure I'll receive at least another 10 in the next day or so.
I understand I have a student loan debt that I need to repay, but I've constantly expressed to Sallie Mae my financial situation, and they insist I pay them or expect the phone calls to continue. They offered me a forbearance, in exchange for paying a $100 fee. Ummm...the point of a forbearance is to delay the process of paying a loan that you're in over your head on. If I had the money to pay the fee, I might as well pay my bill!
This is just harassment

It's Sallie Mae
Laela Owes2 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
Yes Sallie Mae has now decided to call me every day, at least 3x a day. I suspect this is another one of their numbers.
Also, 765-283-3176 and 888-272-5543.

There are three certainties in my life:
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. A call from this number EVERY DAY
Dee 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
Yes! This is Sallie Mae. They call all day and night; even after they have talked with my son who is a college graduate that can't find a job! They have three different numbers that call my home all day and night (Sunday - Saturday) until 9:00 pm. Apparently, these idiots don't talk to each other. He has talked to these "people" and told them that he is actively looking for a job and that he fully intends to pay he school loans when he gets a job. One day, he talked to them and they called two times two hours later. All on the same day! Here are the two others numbers that they use: 765-283-3176 and 866-215-1261. It's sickening. One day they called seven times. They should not be allowed to harrass people like this.

I got a voice message from 1-317-578-6000 asking me to call 1-888-629-0189 because I was listed as a cosigner for a student loan and they needed some information, I called and they managed to get my address and the last for digits of my ss number too late I reliaze this was a scam. Now I am going crazy thinking what else they know and what else they will do next
rf 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
calling me constantly. I finally answered. The message said if I was so and so please press 0. I did. Someone came on and I told them that I never went to college and had no loans. (True). She said that they must have the wrong number. Ya think. The only Mae I know is Ellie Mae from the Beverly Hillbillies.
Justin 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
It's Sallie Mae alright. Its funny though, I always pay on time, but yet they always call me right after I pay, I dont know why, I never answer. All I care about is that I pay and the payment is posted a day later. So legally they have nothing to talk to me about. Although, my luck would be that they were trying to contact me to tell me I never have to pay again because a rich benefactor wants to pay my loans off, and I am ignoring them. HAHA that would be my luck.
Dave 2011-06-06 21:05:50 Unknown
Well im happy to hear its not just me being called by the 765-283-3176. Since the first call two days ago i have successfully missed 13 of these calls. The automated voice states on my vmail that i should wait to get transferred to someone and then its says its important that they talk to me.
1) Never heard of Sallie Mae
2) There is no way the loan office has my cell phone number
3) My parents deal with it so they have no reason to call me
1+2+3=Stop calling me you a**holes

Here I go reporting them once again. This is my call log for this morning alone and it isn't even over yet.
776-528-3176 8:15
765-283-3176 8:59
877-770-4157 9:17
888-629-0189 10:28
Sallie Mae does not know how to update their website, or train their employees to give correct information over the phone. i was told once I set up the select step program that the deliquent would be backdated as it wasn't even there and they never fixed that! And the phone calls would stop, again they STILL CALL ME!
I have told them I reported them to the FTC, BBB and I called the attorney general's office in PA. And I am filing paperwork against them. I am including a very long letter to the attorney general to take action for them to follow the rules, etc.
If you do have a loan with them, write down everything they tell you! And get their name. And if you dont have a loan with them, please save yourself the aggravation. Dont do it.
