I was called and told that we already owed for one year and asked if I would like to cancel the second year and I told them yes cancel the next thing I know we got a bill, and now a " collection agent" that has my voice spliced in saying I was responsible for the bill.  I will not pay them, he kept telling me that the courts have the info and I kept telling him it was a scam.  I finally hung up on him and will be reporting him to the authorities

sent copy of the bill to my State Attorney General's office who sent them a letter and within days I received a call and letter from 411 reversing the charges and calling it all a "misunderstanding"....ya right...

Tried BBB of Florida and 411 never even responded to them.  Looks like you need something higher than BBB.

They called our office and to verify our company information and offer us a free listing for one year if we pay for a listing the second year. A clerk in our shop agreed. They then sent us a bill for $459.95. I thought it was a scam but they had a recording in which the price was quoted and our clerk said that she was authorization to place the order. I emailed them the same day explaining that she was lying, she did not have any authorization and that we did not want the listing. I also asked that they place us on a Do Not Call list.
I received an e-mail from them two days later confirming that they had cancelled our invoice and placed us on a Do Not Call list.

They turned us in.  We have never been turned in to a collection agency.  Yeah, the 411YellowPages.com operates out of Florida and uses a collection agency in Delaware to collect money from a business in Indiana?  Sounds more than a little suspicious to me!  We were invoiced...for a service we never asked for and from a rep we hung up on.  The invoice had no contact info or description of services.  Just pay 499.00 to this address and business.  Yeah right.  They will turn you over...but what can they really do outside of that?  However, we have contacted our attorney and are going to take action.

Our business was harassed by this company who pilfered our business information off of our REAL advertising site.  They called and asked my husband (the owner) to verify the address, he did.  Then they asked him if he was authorized to make purchases, he was.  When he realized the call was from a solicitor and NOT our real Yellow Pages Ad. company, he told them NO and hung up.  We had repeatedly hung up on them in the past.  They are deceptive and call businesses who advertise in the AT&T Yellow Pages and begin the conversation by telling you they are calling to verify your Yellow Pages information.  It takes several VERY POINTED questions about who they are to find out they are phony.  They have now sent us a bill and say the voice recording verifying the address and purchase authorization is enough to make us pay.  We refused so they turned us over to a collection agency.  I AM NOT giving them a dime.  The have an "F" rating with the BBB and I am going to report them to the attorney general in Florida and in Indiana.  What a crooked company!  I cannot believe they are getting away with such ABUSIVE and FRAUDULENT practices! We never wanted their service and said NO many times.  The collection agency tried to settle with us for 299.00 and I refused.  This is unbelievable!

The 411yellowpagesdirect company has changed to 411yellowpages. I am the assistant, not a manager or owner of our company, and I received the sales pitch that everyone seems to have received as well. When I spoke the sales rep, he said that they would send an invoice to us and if we wanted to go through with it we would pay for it, if we didn’t want to go through with it, and then we could cancel. I then received the invoice a couple weeks later asking us to pay $499.95. (WOW!) I then got in contact with them to cancel and they said we had to pay it. If we wanted to cancel, we had to pay a cancelation fee of $399.95 (WHAT?!) I never heard that we had to cancel before we received the invoice of did I ever hear the amount of the invoice. They played the recording of me authorizing them to send the invoice and in the recording the rep said the amount (which must have been inserted because I never heard it). So I've spoken to a few people with the company and they did not back down at all and as well as I. We are not paying them anything because we did not want to go through with the subscription.
One big thing is, how can a company make you liable to pay something over a verbal agreement to receive the invoice? That does not sound right. If we were to make a starting payment or were to sign a document, then I would understand. But verbally is not an authorization to pay at all to me. Am I right?

Mike Davis is after me too.  I have received several calls from these idiots, and today I get a fax, that is poorly written, threatening to turn me into a collection agency - for an invoice that my company never received. They have this recording of me that is so obviously spliced together it is ridiculous. I'm sick of these guys and I have no intention of paying a dime.

Someone called my office a while back to verify our company info with one of my clerks who is unauthorized to make advertising purchases.  Also, they did not get a purchase order number which is totally against company policy.  I get a bill which I knew was bogus so I called to question these 411 people.  I told them I wasn't paying it, they said they were going to sue, I told them to have at it.  This was months ago and I am still waiting to see my name on any local docket or get served with some papers.  Nothing, they just send letters threatening.  I turned this over to my attorney to handle.  He called the 888.629.3633 number to speak with Samantha to request a copy of the verbal arrangement so he could turn over to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office.  She hung up on him.  He forwarded this website to me.  What a bunch of boneheads.

The person who called identified himself as Mark Miller from Yellow Page Direct.  He claimed that our company has not paid our bills for a 2-year contract for yellow page advertising.  The 1st number given was 1-888-369-3633, which did not work when I called it back.  Then he claimed that the right number was 1-888-629-3633.  Anyways, it is a scam...I called all the companies that I do advertise with and they said they are not affiliated with them.  Again, tried to call back no one answered the phone.  Oh yeah, he refused to send over any contract or verbal contract that we signed.  Furthermore, what company allows another to advertise with them and does not get their billing address or fax number!!!

The problem in our office is not that the person who 'authorized' the invoice was not authorized to purchase, it's that the recording of her supposedly authorizing the charge is quite frankly, bogus. They confirmed our information, address, phone and fax number and asked the employee if she was authorized to make purchases. She said yes, which is true. They then asked if it was true that we did not require purchase orders, the answer was also yes. Then there's a very garbled portion of this supposed recording that they cannot provide a copy of, followed by someone speaking very fast with what seems to be the dollar amount of the eventual invoice mentioned and then asking the employee what her title is within the company.

While making sure people who are not authorized to purchase do not claim to be authorized is important, it's also important to listen very carefully to their interesting "Quality Control" recordings.

We had a similar problem in our office, (everybody wants to be the boss here). They called and spoke with one of our office clerks who said she had authority to approve the purchase and she accepted it. When we received the invoice the boss got angry and refused to pay it, thinking that it was a bogus invoice. The person whose name was on the invoice denied that she had approved it, but when we called they had a recording of the conversation in which she said she had authorization and gave her approval.

Although they understood the situation they would not cancel the invoice.
BUT I went on their website and found that they had a cancellation policy. If we had cancelled within seven days of the confirmation there would not have been a charge. But since it was 3 weeks after the fact we had to pay a $250 cancellation fee.

If they say that it’s not possible, tell them that they have the cancellation policy on their website and the have to accept it.

But the best thing to do is to make sure that nobody it your office claims to have authorization to make purchases when they don’t.

If and  order is confirmed cancel by an e-mail within the first seven day and refer to their cancellation policy if they argue with yoy.

We were scammed by these people. They call people who are know nothing about  the supposedly first call for the free service. The employee agrees to the invoice even when they don't have the authority to make that decision. 411yellowpagedirect.com states that this person said they could send the invoice and thta they had the authority. They will not get a penny from us.

I received a call from Yellow Direct.  Same techniques as listed above- recorded call for authorization, claims of sending invoices, and collector calling threatening to send to collections.  I've reported a claim to our bank and now I'm having to try to track down the address of this business to report them to the BBB and PA's Attorney General's office.  DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

We have dealt with this company in Deerfield FL as well. They call to verify and "renew" your subscription. So you verify and they record you talking and change your tape. Then continue to call and harass you. It's gone on here for 6 months now. I usually get a call once a week for them asking for the person I let go for verifying this. Even though I explained they are no longer here, they still call. Then they proceded to call under a different business name. Telling me the worker that I hired just a few days ago, agreed to a service 2 years ago. Isn't that crazy, so calmly I asked to be emailed and mailed how this was agreed to and told them I had some red flags. They never emailed me the info or anything, just still call for the employee I let go. Now they call from unknown name and number.

we have received an invoice as well as a commercial collection from THE CREDIT BUREAU!!!. They call everyday and have never spoke with anyone in the company about using their services. I called and got only a recording that stated to leave a message, which I did requesting proof that we ordered this and a copy of their webpage to which we are listed. We have now received another collection notice which I also think is a scam.

The411YellowPages.com in Deerfield Beach, Florida

Same as everyone else, sales person called to "verify" information to renew a subscription.  My assistant asked "is this something we've done every year?"  The sales person says "yes" so she verifies information tells her the price and hangs up the phone.  She then tells me about the call and i told her she was just scammed.  15 days later we get the bill, I ask her to call and cancel and explain she was misled into believing this was a current subscription and that she is NOT authorized to start a NEW service.  The supervisor at YellowPages threatens her with legal action so she put me on the phone.  I told the YellowPages the same thing, she was not authorized to start a new service and "they" (YellowPages) misled her into believing this was a renewal.  He then proceeds to tell me I should hear the recording with her stating she is authorized, and I told him, "how can you even hear it, you told us those tapes wouldn't be available for an hour" he then says, "I train them all in they all say the exact same thing" so I then said, "so you train all your sales staff how to fraudulently dupe people into signing up with YellowPages?"  He then said he was going to record our conversation, so I said "I am not agreeing to record this, our conversation is done, send me all transcripts and complaints via mail" and hung up the phone.  He harassed me with at least 4 or 5 more calls which I continued to say "I will not agree to a recorded conversation, send all transcripts and complaints via mail" and hung up on him until his last call when I said, "Now your harassing me" and hung up.  Which he didn't call back.  Our attorney happened to be in our office when this all went down and my attorney said, "If he calls again, tell him to sue you and when you win and he has to pay all your legal fees and his company gets shut down for fraudulent sales tactics he can then record thoughts while sitting behind bars"

DO NOT PAY THESE FRAUDULENT SALES TACTICS.

these guys are playing the old trick of getting you to accept something quickly enough that you don't actually think about it first.  We should all call them and ask them to accept our offer of a listing on our websites for only 495.99 and see if we can get them to say yes really fast before they think about it.
then we could bill them and send them to collections, too.
Then maybe we can all send some big thug named Guido over to "collect" on the debt by breaking their kneecaps.

I got a phone call from Mark Miller who introduced himself as a quality assuarance representative to confirm information and he said that our company agreed to a 2 year advertising contract and that we owed $479.95. Apparently I agreed to this 2 years ago and the funny thing is that I wasn't even employed yet! They had the nerve to let me listen to a recording of myself agreeing to this 2 year contract and I immediately told my boss. We refused to pay them trying to explain calmly that there was a problem with how they obtained their authorization but the guy in the collections dept flipped out and threatened me. Two weeks later I got another phone call with the same threats and then a letter from David Stratus, a Legal Assessment Officer who sounded exactly like the guy yelling at me in their collections dept!!!! I'm contacting the BBB as soon as I finish typing this message!!!!

This is a total scam.  The recorded conversation are dubbed.  They take parts of the words and move them.  They get you to say "yes" to something like your address and they take that and put it as a confirmation for service.

Do not pay them anything.  They are a total scam company.
