You need to make sure that ALL your numbers are listed on THE DO NOT CALL REgistery, then after 30 days file a compliant, after enough complaints it will stop.

Same thing here -- "missed call" with no message.
I'm a Time Warner customer, as it happens. I phoned them back at that number and spoke to a nice fellow who readily agreed to put me on their list for no more marketing calls. He said it could take up to 48 hours.

The call is from Time Warner and the fella was trying to sell Time Warner digital phone service. The call is generated by using an auto-dialer and is originating from Albany, New York. I asked to be taken off of their call list and the caller wanted the last four digits of my social security number (I don't think so) but was happy with my account number with Time Warner. I inquired if there was a specific number that people could call to have their number removed from a calling list and he said that there wasn't. I called Time Warner Cable Customer Care here in Syracuse, NY at 315-634-6000. Try your local Time Warner Cable company to complain.

When are you people going to realize that the Do Not Call Registry DOES NOT APPLY to any company you "have done business with in the last 18 months" ???
Whether it's your cable or internet provider, a credit card company who "shares" your info with an associated company or just someone you called to request info from, they CAN call you for up to 18 months. The DNC list doesn't really do Shack Jit.

I was getting calls from this number daily for over a month. There was no one there when we did answer the call. I called the number back and spoke to someone who verified phone number and name on the Time Warner acct. They said they would add me to their do not call list and that there would be no further marketing calls for five years from them. They also said it could take 3 business days to have this go into effect. We shall see if this works to stop these calls. If not, my local Time Warner will be notified!

Today, Sept 21st. 8 calls so far... 10:02, 10:18, 10:32. 10:42, 10:57, 11:31, 11:42 and 11:57. It's 12:10 now. Never has that number been so relentless. We have the number blocked so it only rings once, Thank God.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE:
New Rule Prohibiting Unwanted "Robocalls" to Take Effect on September 1, 2009.
Telemarketers Must Obtain Prior Written Approval from Consumers Who Want to Receive Such Calls
Beginning September 1, 2009, prerecorded commercial telemarketing calls to consumers ? commonly known as robocalls ? will be prohibited, unless the telemarketer has obtained permission in writing from consumers who want to receive such calls, the Federal Trade Commission announced today.
?American consumers have made it crystal clear that few things annoy them more than the billions of commercial telemarketing robocalls they receive every year,? said Jon Leibowitz, Chairman of the FTC. ?Starting September 1, this bombardment of prerecorded pitches, senseless solicitations, and malicious marketing will be illegal. If consumers think they?re being harassed by robocallers, they need to let us know, and we will go after them.?
The new requirement is part of amendments to the agency?s Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) that were announced a year ago. After September 1, sellers and telemarketers who transmit prerecorded messages to consumers who have not agreed in writing to accept such messages will face penalties of up to $16,000 per call.
The rule amendments going into effect on September 1 do not prohibit calls that deliver purely ?informational? recorded messages ? those that notify recipients, for example, that their flight has been cancelled, an appliance they ordered will be delivered at a certain time, or that their child?s school opening is delayed. Such calls are not covered by the TSR, as long as they do not attempt to interest consumers in the sale of any goods or services. For the same reason, the rule amendments also do not apply to calls concerning collection of debts where the calls do not seek to promote the sale of any goods or services.
In addition, calls not covered by the TSR ? including those from politicians, banks, telephone carriers, and most charitable organizations ? are not covered by the new prohibition. The new prohibition on prerecorded messages does not apply to certain healthcare messages. The new rule prohibits telemarketing robocalls to consumers whether or not they previously have done business with the seller.
Under a previous rule that took effect on December 1, 2008, telemarketing robocall messages by businesses covered by the TSR must tell consumers how to opt-out of further calls at the start of the message, and provide an automated opt-out mechanism that is voice or keypress-activated. Prerecorded messages left on answering machines must also provide a toll-free number that connects to the automated opt-out mechanism.
After September 1, consumers who receive prerecorded telemarketing calls but have not agreed to get them should file a complaint with the Commission, either on the donotcall.gov Web site or by calling 1-888-382-1222.
The Commission?s 2008 press release announcing the changes to the TSR?s prerecorded telemarketing provisions and a link to the related Federal Register notice can be found on the FTC?s Web site at:http://www2.ftc.gov/opa/2008/08/tsr.shtm.
The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC?s online Complaint Assistant or call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). The FTC enters complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 1,500 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad. The FTC?s Web site provides free information on a variety of consumer topics.

I've been receiving at least two calls a day from 1-888-639-1724 for the last two weeks. I finally called Time Warner today after reading some of the postings listed here and asked them to please stop (even though I have to admit that I am not sure exactly who is calling). The representative that I spoke with said that she was not familiar with the number but apologized for the calls and said that she would check into my complaint. Are these companies really this hard up for sales. How annoying! This only makes me want to discontinue my TV and internet service with Time Warner.
Update!!! I just received a call as I was finishing this feedback. The call is from Time Warner and the fella was trying to sell Time Warner digital phone service. The call is originating from Albany, New York. I asked to be taken off of their call list and the caller wanted the last four digits of my social security number (I don't think so) but was happy with my account number with Time Warner. I inquired if there was a specific number that people could call to have their number removed from a calling list and he said that there wasn't. As I mentioned above, I called Time Warner Cable Customer Care here in Syracuse, NY at 315-634-6000. Try your local Time Warner Cable company to complain.

Got postcard offering free trip, etc... called and asked what company he was from. Shane hung up on me. I called again and asked again, and he said "Reservations." He then said they take reservations from all different kinds of companies. He wanted my confirmation number and then told me the reservation was from First Choice Destinations. I asked to be removed from the list. He asked for my name, which I hesitatingly gave. And then he hung up.

I keep getting these calls. When you answer no one says anything. Called the number back and it's time warner cable. Get 3 or more a day. Please do something to get them to stop this.
| Randy 2010-07-02 22:25:20 Unknown |
You need to make sure ALL your numbers are on THE DO NOT CALL Registry, then IF they call after 30 days, you can file a complaint. If they get enough, it will stop.
