Debt Collector
Received a call from this number asking for someone who I happen to live with.
I asked what the call was in reference to and she said it was a personal business matter.
The lady calling was actually quite nice.
I explained that the number she reached is not the number for the person she is seeking to communicate with.
She said that she would remove the number from the contact list.
I explained that I do know the person in question and that it was quite possible that they gave my number so that I might intercede on their behalf as they are quite ill (currently in the hospital for the past 5 days).
She said they could not communicate with me regarding a personal business matter without her permission.
I said that in that case they might need to speak to her attorney and she
"OK" and we thanked each other, said goodbye and hung up.
Because my friend is sick and has substantial medical bills piling up I surmise that the call is likely to be a debt collector.

Michigan Healthcare Collections Inc. 29777 Telegraph rd. Southfield MI. 48034  ph. 248-352-9052. That is what MHCI stands for. They work for both Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI & Garden City Hospital in Garden City, MI. I know for sure because I owe Oakwood over $10,000 & Garden City almost $2,000. I had a heart attack & they put stents in my arteries. My health insurance would not cover it. Sort of like how Obamacare is going to be. Guess I'm too old. (60). My question is why would a hospital allow a procedure to be done without checking if the patients insurance would cover it? The stents were done at Oakwood. The heart attack was at Garden City hospital.  Not my fault.  I hate to say it since I have always had a credit score of over 800 for the past twenty years. Lower than 500 now. Lost my job in 2006. Was very depressed. Went back to school in 2009 to be a medical assitant & had a 4.0 GPA. Couldn't get hired because I needed 1-2 years experience. LOL.BTW, you taxpayers paid $14,400 dollars for my education that didn't help me at all.

Now I am working part-time as a caregiver making $9.50 an hour. No health insurance now since my employer doesn't want to pay fines if she doesn't offer it. I only work 24 to 28 hours a week & want more but I never get them. Just like my screen name says, it's all "crazystuff".

Just sue them .. if you can't afford to pay your medical bills and you don't want these phone calls anymore .. just document every phone call. THEY ALWAYS break the law..  contact your district attorney (in your state) .. after you file a complaint .. go to your local courthouse and get a phone number/address for Legal Aid (free legal service) .. that's what we did .. with the DA's help even. They didn't even show up for the hearing .. not only did we win a case against them, our medical bill with Doctors Hospital was re-evaluated during the hearing and a bunch of ridiculous charges were removed saving us a further $900.00. We used the money we won from the collection agency to pay the bill and had a few hundred left over... don't let these idiots s*** on you .. document everything ( i even record every phone call.. not that I needed it but do it anyway .. f*** them)

I get repeated calls from this number and never answer. The call goes to my voicemail and when I check the message all I hear is dead air then a sudden burst of noise (nothing ledgible) and then a dial tone. If they can't learn to leave a decent message then they will never hear from me and I will continue to ignore the call.

Mr. Jones, your post here is not legal. I suggest you read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Beware, I have recorded your number, copied your post and turning it in to the proper people in charge and you will be without a job soon. Have a nice day!

Called and asked me verify personal information without explaining the purpose of the call. When told I would not be verifying my address or any other personal information until she could prove she was calling from a legit establishment, she hung up.

The official address is: MHCI (Michigan Healthcare Collections Inc.) 29777 Telegraph Rd., Southfield, Michigan  48034. The real ph. #248-352-9052. And just take them to court but keep a record of ALL calls and memo of each one. You can sue them for crossing the line under the Fair Debt Collection law.  They are not even listed as a business but, i'm going to the city clerk's office and county clerks office to get the information and owner of company because it's public information.

This particular company already has a long list of complaints with the state.

Please, if you feel your rights are being violated begin by recording all future calls.

"Who must give permission to record a telephone or in-person conversation?

Federal law permits recording telephone calls and in-person conversations with the consent of at least one of the parties. See 18 U.S.C. 2511(2)(d). This is called a "one-party consent" law. Under a one-party consent law, you can record a phone call or conversation so long as you are a party to the conversation. Furthermore, if you are not a party to the conversation, a "one-party consent" law will allow you to record the conversation or phone call so long as your source consents and has full knowledge that the communication will be recorded." - courtesy of http://www.citmedialaw.org/legal-guide/record ... d-conversations.

IF you are involved in the conversation (if they call you, you are a party to the conversation) you DO NOT need to inform them that you are recording.

Once you have recordings of them violating the laws of your state, (which should be easy considering they appear to be idiots) .. You will then proceed to file a formal complaint.. If you live in Michigan: http://www.michigan.gov/ag/0,4534,7-164-17331---,00.html. This is the State of Michigan Attorney Generals website.

Contact your personal attorney or register for legal aid in the county where you live if you cannot afford one. It's very easy to shut down illegal collections, the hard part is gathering the evidence to do so as most people aren't even aware their rights are being violated. Remain informed and use the system to your advantage, it actually works.

I just received a call from 888-642-4669 requesting to speak to my husband.  I stated I was his wife and he again asked for my husband...I asked what this pertained to...but he continued to ask what my address was and again I asked what this pertained to....he told me he was not at liberty to say and I said than I am not at liberty to answer any of your questions  and I hung up on him....very rude....If you want me to tell you what my address is or whether or not this address is correct or this phone number is correct...you better tell me who you are and why you are calling me...if not....you are not getting any personal information from me....this was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE.
