this is legit wells fargo theft prevention.  am traveling in nyc and they thought my card was begin used illegally.  i called them back..they don't ask for any info other than the last four digits of your card and your billing zip code to verify you.  they ran 5 past transactions past me and found out my card was indeed being used illegally...

Got a call from this number and decided to call back. The guy told me someone tried to charge 752 dollars at a supermarket on my account but it was denied. I ended up getting another charge of 9.50 cents on my account  in which he said he would put a claim for  that. He then told me he would cancel the card and send it to me within the next couple days. After hanging up the phone, I was pretty skeptically of the phone call. so I went to the wells fargo website to call the fraud line. I talked to the representative and she said that there was no charge for 752 anywhere except for the 9.50 charge. I filed a police report along with a claim for my account. They're going to looking into my account closely to see if there are any further issues. If there are any other unauthorized transaction, they will contact me asap with any new information.

If you're unsure about the phone number, check with Wells Fargo first (number on website). The phone call sounded legit but just don't be too sure that is the real wells fargo fraud line.

I received a call from the number, at work. Claimed to be Wells Fargo and the automated voice claimed there was Fraud activity on my card and immediately asked for my Zip Code.  Suspicious, I hung up and immediately called the Wells Fargo 1-800-869-3557  and they said it is a Phishing scam.

NEVER give you personal information to any calling you claiming to be a bank, government agency, etc.   Get the information of the "company"  and go online for the legitimate direct number to call.

over the last 4 days I have recieved multiple calls from a number that has now been reported to the police and wellsfargo directly. The automated voice claims to be wellsfargo fraud prevention and asks for my zipcode. I hung up and called back to the same automated voice asking for my zip. Called 1-800-869-3557 THE REAL Wells Fargo number and my cards nor accounts were flagged. They forwarded me to the fraud prevention dept and they had made no such call. Tonight i got the same number calling and hung up. Called it back and actually talked to "A Representitive" He immediately asked for the card number I was concerned about. I told him what I thought and how i had reported the number to wellsfargo. He advised me to look at wells fargo as the number would be listed. It was not....I was already looking at it. I hung up and Called wellsfargo again. Here is the breakdown of what he told me. Wellsfargo will auto call you and tell you to call them. They will not ask for numbers, zipcodes or exp dates. Hang up we will note your account. File a police report for harrasment and fraud attempts and report all information to   reportphish@wellsfargo.com  but DO NOT GIVE OUT INFORMATION over the phone or by email when you did not call them first. If you have a doubt call 1-800-869-3557. There have been multiple numbers this same phishing scam has called from           ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^   This is the only number you should call unless told otherwise from an actual assistant from ^^^  that number

This number is Wells Fargo. I got a call from this number, was suspicious, and called 1-800-TO-WELLS (1-800-869-3557) to confirm. The lady (Jennifer) informed me that it WAS Wells Fargo trying to get a hold of me. But, even though this is the case, I would STILL always call their 1-800 number just in case. Can't be too careful. By the way- Wells Fargo is a great bank.

This is legit. I called Wells Fargo from the back of my debit card just as someone else did who posted here. It turned out I had about $700.00 in false charges made to my account. (I am now overdrawn by almost $400 and can't get any money until they straighten this out which can take a couple of days!) I got everything addressed with Wells Fraud Prevention. After I did all that thru the number on the back of my card I called this 888 number just to see if it was legit and it is, in fact, Wells Fraud Prevention automated service warning you that potentially fraudulent activity has taken place on your card. If you have been called by this number but are afraid the number is a phishing scam, but you have a Wells Fargo debit/credit card call the number on the back of your card NOW and check your account. I was glad I did.

This is part of a very elaborate scam. Basically, they have already stolen the card numbers, but know they won't be able to use them. So they try and get additional information, such as the billing zip code, to defraud customers. If you get this call, hang up, call Wells Fargo's main customer service line, and tell them to cancel your card and issue you a new one.

This is a legitimate #!  I called the # on the back of my card & they saw the fraudulent transaction trying to be made on my account. It would have to be a pretty sophisticated stammer to have all my information & automated too. Besides...I never had to give them any account #s. It's sad that we have to be soo paranoid...even about the bank calling us but I'm glad to hear people are being cautious.

SCAM SCAM SCAM! I called the number on the back of my Wells Fargo card. They said there was no fraudulent activity. If there was, they would just put an alert on my account so no one could use my card - including me - and they would expect me to call Wells Fargo to reactivate it.

Do not call the number back! Call the number on the back of your card.

Dear friggin idiots! At least half the posts on this site are from the scammers themselves!!!! Just like the call I got today, by appearing to jive with what is happening, they seem to glean supposedly not-important information such as: confirming the person who answered the phone has the number attached to the card, also your zip code, and I have also seen posts on another site where some fool gave the 3 digit number on the back of the card. That is the ultimate when it comes to stupidity! Today I received a call from this number. It was an automated message that said it was alerting me to suspicious charges and asked me to press#1 if I was "My full Name" It said my full name including middle initial. I am suspicious of incoming calls from anyone claiming to be a creditor but seemed harmless so far so I pressed #1, then it asked me to enter my zip code to confirm. Seems harmless on the surface but I know full well when I make charges some stores will ask for a zip code so I promptly hung up. Wells Fargo Insists it is NOT THEM, and I was indeed a victim of a phone phishing attack. Here's the most aggravating part! I live in California, some fool in New York tried to make a three hundred some dollar charge at T-mobile. Wells Fargo refused to follow up with T-mobile and cooperate to alert authorities, and so I called T-mobile and they refused, saying it's my bank's responsibility!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we know how and why this flourishes! The thieves are being aided and abetted by the system! Way to go corporate America! Mother F'ers!!!! In a way I have to pat the thieves on the back and say Well Done! for taking advantage and robbing the store 'cuz the door and the till were left wide open and the store owner went home for the night and hung a sign up saying we don't prosecute thieves, or so it would seem. Think maybe tomorrow I will alert my senator AND congressman. This $#!+ has got to STOP!!!!!

A privet number called me this morning and left a message to call 1-888-644-5575 or they were going to deliver  order actions important papers to my place of work, business, doctors, and all of my know addresses. And that I needed to call them back with in 24hrs to stop request actions and claim numbers to the contact clients. And if I didn't call them back the would move forward with all procedures! They lady that left the message said her name was Miss Banks... Now it got my attention, because I was thinking is was like court papers or something. But the lady that left the message sounded kinda ghetto and unprofessional, like reading from a script. So I looked up the number and found that it might be a scam! So I called the number and the recording said the were Wiseman & Associate.(lol) the lady asked for my phone number and read slowly my brother name. I told her no my bother doesn't live with me, he live in another state. She asked if I had his number or address and I told her no. She replayed "Well then I will take your number off the list" and then just hung up on me!... To me it sound like a bill collector or a scam.

Got a message on my home phone saying I needed to call Wells Fargo Fraud at this number.  I called, but then hung up and called a number on the Wells Fargo website.  Wells Fargo said the message was not from them, and we verified that there had been fraudulent charges on my account that same day.  This 5575 number is part of a sophisticated scam.  Because they actually did make charges using my check card "account," that was debited out of my checking account, but then called to alert me that that's what they were doing, in order to get more information out of me.

The phone number 888-644-5575 is indeed Wells Fargo Prevention Department.  I received a message and called the number back.  I was a little leery, but the automation part did not ask for any personal information, ie full SS number, Pin number.  The person I spoke to did ask for the 3 numbers on  the back of my debit card to identify me.  I must say this made me a little unsure, but after she told me what my last valid transaction was on my acccount and that they had blocked a transaction this morning at a discount store in Orlando, FL.  THIS WAS NOT ME!  Card was blocked and I was told a new card would be sent.  After calling I googled the number and found these blogs - some saying this was Wells Fargo, others saying this number was a fraud.  So, I called Wells Fargo.  They did verify that my card was blocked and a new one issued.  They assued me this number is valid.

Please note: the banker I spoke to said it is always good to double check by calling your bank immediately back to verify that the call was valid.  He said by doing so I did everything possible to protect myself.  This number is valid, but there is always a possiblity that you can receive a call about fraud and it is FRAUD. All is well due to my card is blocked now, but if I had a "do over", I would have called Wells Fargo FIRST at a number I could verify as valid from their website or my bank statement and ask them to transfer me to their fraud prevention department.  This would have removed all doubts.

This is a scam because there is an entirely different phone number for the exact same department they claimed to be. Not to mention, every one of the few times I called to check if it was a scam, the same exact person answered the phone. I called wells fargo, and they denied any connection to that number. wells fargo does not use 888. Anyone can sign up for an 888 without much question of what they're doing and most big companies like WELLS FARGO...would not use a phone line that is less professional than 800 or 866 which 888 definitely is. 888 is mainly used for advertising. It is definitely, without one single doubt in my ever-researching mind...a SCAM. Anyone who claims that it isn't a scam is probably a scammer trying to cover their tracks.

This is not a scam, or fraud, or phishing. It is wells Fargo fraudulent claims. I returned the call from this number and the identified attempted purchases that I definitely did not make. After speaking with the lady, who canceled my card, I got concerned that it was a scam, so I called the number on the back of my wells Fargo debit card. Sure enough the rep said that my card had been canceled by the fraud department and I was being issued a new card due to those attempted purchases, which he verified. If you get a call from this number and think it's a scam, don't call them back, whatever, I don't care, but at the very least, don't be stupid. Call the easily found Wells Fargo toner service number and talk to someone, just to make sure nothing fraudulent is going on with your account.

I called Wells Fargo. The call definitely was NOT from them.

It's a scam, plain and simple - and a DANGEROUS scam.

To the people who said it was Wells: either you experienced a coincidental convergence of a scam at the same time Wells was concerned about your account - or you work for the scammer.

BEWARE!

It wasn't from Wells Fargo.

It was from a scammer - someone looking to pull money out of your card, or to steal your identity.
