unknown caller says he represents the yellow pages and wants to verify the information for my listing. when asked why it comes in as unknown caller if he is from the yellow pages, he says "it's internet calling". gave me 888-666-8193 as the number he is calling from. told him no need to verify my information, and hung up.

pi 2011-06-06 21:05:52 Unknown
New Message from C.U Customer Departament: account Frozen, for details call at 8886669135
admanc 2011-06-06 21:05:52 Unknown
Just got this on my phone and was highly suspicious due to spelling errors in the text. I am also a T-mobile customer.
Private 2011-06-06 21:05:52 Unknown
Called TMobile and reported the message. All cell phone companies have a procedure for reporting these types of phishing scams to FCC for investigation.
The text read "New Message from C.U. Service: acount Frozen, for details call at 8886669135
Scary thing is, my 18 yr old is so naive, he would have fallen for it. I texted him immediately and told him not to respond if he got the same or similiar message.

I got the same message. I'm calling TMobile too! It looks like the authorities could simply look up who has that number and shut them down!

To the one that said that tmobile said they have .com instead of .net at the end of their email thingy....are you sure about that? b/c i received a few w/ both endings.
neways this week i have gotten over seven of these messages. SEVEN. and i usually get that at the same time every day. funny thing is, i never heard of credit union until i got one of these, so i KNEW they were a scam.
i've received these messages from: credit.union@tmomail.net, c.u.alert@tmomail.net, 566@tmomail.com, 80004@tmomail.net, and a few more but i deleted those already.

I just got one this morning while in the shower.
From 3671.
300082@tmomail.net//New Message from C.U Departament: accunt Frozen, for details call 8886669135.
Figured it was spam; the typos had me amused.
I'm guessing there's a bot or something scouring for phone numbers from forms on the net, or else I didn't read a TOS as well as I should have sometime and they shared my number. Oh well, it's temporary anyway.
I'm on prepaid with T-mobile.

I just got it to on my Verizon phone and I have text messaging blocked. Verizon couldn't tell me how it was able to get through.
Diana 2009-09-03 22:14:27 Unknown
My husband and I both got the text on our phones at the same time today. To the one who attributed it to Facebook, my husband doesn't have Facebook. I called our cell carrier directly as it seemed fishy...not thier phone number and the message had several mispellings. They confirmed that it was a scam.

Rec'd text msg from '3670' stating that my credit union account is temp. frozen. DEFINITE scam, my CU doesn't HAVE my cell number, and wouldn't text me even if they did.
Mike 2009-09-03 14:49:54 Unknown
Never rec'd a text like this prior to adding my cell to facebook in order to u/l photo's. Called number on text & auto voice asked for 16 digit cc#. Typed in various numbers & received replies that it was incorrect. No kidding, as if I would type in the correct numbers!
Text rec'd from: 10802200@txt.att.net .. Message states "Svfcu: account Frozen, for details call at 888-666-9135. Phishing scam out of country obviously due to the typing in the text.

My goddaughter and I both got this same text message (our phones are in her family plan). We are Verizon customers - - anyone else? Wondered if someone had gotten ahold of Verizon's list of phone numbers because cell phone numbers are not published. We didn't call, figuring it was a phishing scam. I will ask her tomorrow to report it to Verizon.
