I didn't get a call but there was a charge to my checking account for $49.95 from PropertyInvestors in Orem, UT.

It looks like they did it the next month as well, but this time from 888-672-4182, for $14.95 from DirectInvestors in Orem, UT.

These are the SOB's that are charging your account. I signed up with them for a free trial and cancelled before the trial period was over...all was well, haven't heard from them until now!
They have been debiting my account for 3 months at $14.95 a pop and transactions read "Invest00" or "Direct OREM" different phone numbers for each but same company.

I guess it's not a bad gig if they can charge all this money each month...invest that money for a nice return, then oh sorry hear is your "borrowed" money back. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Same amounts out of my account but it was through the credit union.  $49.95 in Dec and then $14.95 for Jan, Feb and Mar. The Property Investment Magazine ($49.95) and the monthly Direct Online Investment newsletter ($14.95)are parnter investment companies. I called the 888-674-6805 and talked to Shane who canceled my "subscription", gave me a cancelation # and said that he would refund my money back to my credit union account.  I asked him if he was the same company that charged the $49.95 fee he told me that was an investment partner and transfered me to them.  I talked to Josh.  He also canceled my "subscription", gave me a cancellation # and then said he he would refund my $49.95 within 5-7 business days.
In short:

Call 888-674-6805 (just plan on waiting a LONG time)
Tell them you did not request nor authorize this transaction and ask them to cancel it...they will cancel it
If they don't give you a confirmation #, ASK THEM FOR IT!!!!
They WILL NOT OFFER to REFUND YOUR MONEY but will do so UPON YOUR REQUEST...so, YOU NEED TO ASK THEM TO DO THAT!

Then ASK TO BE TRANSFERED their partner company for the $49.95 charge for the investment magazine. Do the exact same thing as stated above.

GOOD LUCK!

got charged the same amount on 12/24/08. Mine was on a Chase Card. I think there is a glitch like Jessica said or could be that they need the money and did wild charge. I diputed the transaction, and will call them tomorrow. Guys, make sure you write there name , time when you call them, and if they say they gonna refund it, ask them how long it gonna take and write it down.

I finally received an email response:

"You are currently subscribed to Property Investor Magazine and you were billed to renew your annual subscription. Since you have already put in a dispute with your bank, the only thing our company can do is cancel your subscription and our accountant will follow up with your bank. Your subscription has now been canceled."

I wrote back and sarcastically said 'the Customer Service Representative I spoke with two and a half years ago must have just forgot to cancel my account like I requested.' I guess they charged my account last year, but I just didn't notice it. So all in all they have taken $150 from me - unauthorized. I doubt there is anything I can do for the first $100 - but I will get the most recent charge back. I guess I'll get a new debit card, just to ensure they can not bill me in the future; this will be a real pain - but I don't want to have to worry about them charging me again. I'm sorry we're all having to go through this. Good luck to everyone.

THIS IS FRAUD.
We are on the phone with our bank now. Transaction was for $49.95 on 12/29/08. We've tried calling the company & emailing them but get no where. We have no idea how they got our information. As a precaution we are cancelling our bank cards.

I received the same charge as well on 12/29/08 for $48.12 and $1.83.  I contacted Property Investor who stated I signed up for a subscription in Feb 2007 through Realtytrac.  My husband and I signed up for a month, but cancelled our membership. She stated she would refund the charge, but I have a feeling it may not happen. I contacted Realtytrac as well and they stated that I signed up.  I know for a fact, I never signed up for this subscription.  Realytrac broke its relationship with Property Investor back in early 2007 according to a rude manager at Realtytrac.

I have same charge on my Bank of America checking account on 12/23 identified as: 8886719367 PROPERTYINVE.  I had a paid subscription to RealtyTrac over 4 years ago and did not renew.  I am curious if there is a connection here.  Bank of America has turned this over to their fraud department and is investigating.

Thank you for the information. It was very helpful.   I too had a charge on my Bank of America Check Card for $49.95 on 12/26.  I just noticed it today while reviewing my account online. I called my bank after reading your note and had my card cancelled.  I'll deal with getting the charge reversed on Friday.  Thanks!

Hey all, I did drop an email to the publishing company to advise that it was charged in error.  CustomerService@FreshWaterPublishing.com
I received a response from a rep advising that she could cancel it.  Which is such a vague response to a large issue, but effective.
I've sent her another email with our names to determine what name the subscription is under as I wouldn't know since we didn't subscribe.  I've even given her this site so hopefully she'll take it to her managers to explain that this could be a larger issue that they may need their tech guys involved in.  Anyway, I would suggest everyone send an email to them too and maybe if they get enough, they'll actually take care of the problem.

About two and a half years ago, when I was looking for a house, I signed up for a free trial online to access foreclosed properties. I cancelled before the trial ended and they still charged me $49.95 anyway. I called the company and it was supposed to have been taken care of back then. They never credited me the money over two years ago, but like a fool, I just let it go. Now they have charged my account again. Might be a good thing I can not get through to them now because they would be receiving an ear full. I am disputing the charge through my bank.

I have it too... It's a pending charge on my bank account of $49.95 and 8886719367 PROPERTYINVE is what shows in the description. Going to throw a note to my bank to dispute it and I'll be sending the merchant an email customerservice@propertyinvestormag.com.
My husband has done property investments and I'm wondering if this company had a computer glitch and recharged a bunch of old buyers. I know he hasn't bought a magazine in years.
